This was one of our favorite tours in Savannah! Our tour guide Max was phenomenal. He was very knowledgeable about the house and its past residents. I very much appreciated his commentary about the book Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. Highly recommend this read before you visit Savannah.

Make sure to go around back behind the house to the gift shop to buy your ticket. We got there at 10:30 to get the 10:30 tour but it was already booked. So we got the next one at 10:50. Did not wait long at all. This was on a Tuesday in March.

The Mercer-Williams House Museum made famous by the book "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," is a lovely home designed by a NY architect and completed in 1868. Sadly, no one from the Mercer family ever lived there; however, Jim Williams purchased the home in 1969 and began a two-year restoration. The Williams family still owns the home and live there. The incredible first floor and garden are open to the public for tours; however, photos are prohibited. Most of the furniture and art were part of Williams' private collection. He was a master restorer and is credited with saving more than 50 houses in the area.

On our last trip to Savannah we toured several museums, and the Mercer Williams House was by far our favorite. Our tour guide was amazing, he was very knowledgeable and I have to say I left with a great wealth of knowledge for the home, the family, and the history of the area.

What a beautiful and historic home! Max gave us a wonderful tour and was very knowledgeable. We watched the movie, Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil, after the tour to see more views of the home. It's 30 minutes and worth the time!

Short but informative tour of the first floor of the house. The docents are clearly passionate about the (in)famous house, and the building has been incredibly well maintained. I am still thinking about the gigantic and gorgeous pocket doors. Would absolutely love to see the kitchen and second floor!

Visited the museum over Halloween weekend (10/29). Blair gave the tour and I must say, he was AMAZING! So knowledgeable of the history of the home, the architecture, and furnishings of Mercer-Williams House. I had my kiddo with me and he made her feel included and so welcomed. We had such a lovely time. Blair was absolutely the best guide and we really lucked out!

For those who are visiting for the first time - I recommend the gift shop. They have some cool unique curated items. We got some beautiful candles and vintage-like perfume bottles. The man and woman managing the gift shop were absolutely lovely as well, with great style. Just all around a great experience for our first trip to Savannah. Thank you!

Visiting Savannah for an extended weekend and I’m so glad we did this tour! It was a beautiful house with extensive history. Very cute little gift shop in the carriage house too. It’s worth it to check it out! Only bummer is you cannot take any photos in the house itself….

My dad and I toured the Mercer Williams home and we agreed that our tour guide was the best tour guide we've ever had. He was so friendly, informative and a good story teller.

Thank you, Max, for a wonderful tour. While I have not seen the movie, the tour was fascinating nonetheless. I was disappointed that pictures were not allowed, but I understand because someone still lives there. This is a shorter tour, about 45 mins, consisting of only the first floor. There are some really cool pictures, paintings, and pieces of art that are worth seeing.

Very cool tour of Mercer Williams home with a very knowledgeable guide. You’ll get to a see gardens and downstairs of the home (as Susan Williams still actually lives in her family home). Very strict about no photos but totally understandable. The connection to the Midnight in Garden of Good and Evil book/movie makes this worth the stop for any fan!!

Oh and be sure to watch The Swamp Thing 2 for inside house features. 😁

We LOVED the house! Just wish we could have seen more. We only saw 4 downstairs rooms, because somebody is living upstairs. We were told to rent the movie if we want to see more of the house. Our tour guide, Max, was wonderful and very knowledgeable!

A truly interesting tour of one of Savannah's oldest homes. It was restored and has a unique and amazing history. The tour guide was phenomenal and really knew his history. The house is exceptional and a must see for history buffs.

I loved being there, in one of my favorite cities - inside the house where one of my favorite movies was filmed!
I hated not being able to see the entire home or take pics but it was still worth the visit for me. If you're a lover of old Savannah mansions & fan of Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil like me, I definitely recommend.

Super cool historical home. I loved seeing a painting by the same artist who painted George Washington on the US dollar bill. 7 and under are free for anyone out there with "older looking" 7 year olds. No photos allowed in the house but I did get a pic of this cool vase in the gift shop. Gift shop is located in the carriage house before you enter the tour. Lots of cute items, albeit pricey. Ultimate "old money" feel.

Wonderful tour! Blair did an excellent job of explaining about the house and its history. Went at a good speed. Only negative is the same spot you purchase tickets is in the tightly packed gift shop register line. It would be nice to have separate lines.
