Guitar Lessons with Ryan

I have been taking guitar lessons with Ryan for about 3 years, and my experience with him has been nothing short of amazing. The idea of taking lessons and learning an instrument as an adult was very intimidating, but from day one Ryan has been encouraging, helpful and understanding and has made the process engaging, fun, and rewarding. He has taken me from just barely knowing a few chords when I started to now being able to write and record my own music. Ryan has an unparalleled passion for music and for teaching and it comes across in every lesson. If you are looking for a great instructor, I cannot recommend Ryan enough.

I’ve been taking guitar lessons from Ryan for over a year and have improved significantly more and at a steadier pace than I was able to accomplish on my own by “self teaching”. Ryan had a knack for knowing what each student needs in any given lesson and can shift the overall focus of a particular session on the fly if needed, to overcome a hurdle in a challenging part of a song or theory. Ryan also has such an extensive background in music and guitar that he not only teaches chords, scales, and learning songs, he also informs the learner on relative notes and chords and their relationships to one another to enhance the understanding of the theories behind the music, and also gives the learner guidance in creating their own music and songs through applications such as setting lyrics to a piece he’s created or by constructing melodies to lyrics or poems already in existence. I thoroughly enjoy each lesson with Ryan Jerzak—one quality of a great teacher is they don’t just teach, they DO, and Ryan is a teacher that that also DOES. Every week he mentions a new piece he’s been working on, whether alone or with friends, he’s constantly creating.

I’ve been taking lessons with Ryan for a few years now and it has been amazing! I have learned so much with him over the past few years and the things he has taught me have gotten me more interested in music. The lessons are fun, the topics are interesting, and Ryan is a good dude that knows what he’s talking about. I couldn’t recommend him more.

I have been taking lessons with Ryan for almost a year now and it’s the first time I’ve actually improved out of the few times I’ve tried learning guitar in my life. Ryan breaks it down to where I get to learn the basics and actually understand what I’m playing. I have the worst a.d.d. so it’s hard for me to stay focused on anything but Ryan always makes sure to use music I have interest in so I’ll stay interested which really helps especially for me. Also it’s just a fun and chill environment with Ryan there’s literally no pressure he just wants to see you succeed :) !! I would recommend him to anyone who is interested he knows what he’s doing and how to make it enjoyable also !

I started guitar lessons with Ryan online during the Covid pandemic and even online lessons greatly improved not only my playing, but also my knowledge of music more generally. Ryan is a very patient and understanding instructor, and is very good at sharing ideas in a palatable way, regardless of your playing or knowledge level. Ryan is now offering in-person lessons at Forrest York Guitars in Murfreesboro, TN. I definitely recommend lessons from Ryan if you are looking to improve your musical skills! It is obvious that Ryan has a deep appreciation and fascination with music, and that passion carries over into his lessons.

My daughter started guitar lessons with Ryan at six years old. At fifteen, he’s taught her guitar, bass, and now piano. She’s not only learned to play, but to read, and compose her own music. All this from one amazing, kind, brilliant man! She loves her weekly lessons, and I am truly thankful we found him!!!

My son has been taking guitar lessons from Ryan for several years. He is a wonderful instructor! My son has truly blossomed under his instruction! He not only has become an awesome guitar player, but his love for music and playing it has grown tremendously.

I signed up for lessons with Ryan as an intermediate guitarist with high aspirations. In a few short months my playing has increased in ways I never deemed possible. Ryan has taught me ways to “break down” the guitar and really understand intstrument. He has turned me into something much more than just a “guitar player”. Ryan has taught me how to become a musician.

I have "sort of" played for 40 years. The first three lessons with Ryan and I was amazed at how much I had learned in such a short period of time. There are guitar players who know a few good licks and can sound out a song by ear. There are those who have some training. But they can't teach. Just because one can play, does not mean they can teach. Ryan has the education, background, knowledge and skill of an excellent guitar player. He also has the ability to teach. He inspires me to want to learn and be a better player.

Ryan's an incredible teacher and I've learned so much from my lessons. What's set Ryan apart from my other music teachers is that Ryan is a truly excellent teacher and he listens to what you want to accomplished. I've asked him several questions on music theory and he's always answered my questions in terms that I can understand and then apply to my playing. I highly recommend taking lessons from Ryan if you have an interest in music.

Been studying guitar with Ryan for about 2 1/2 years. My only regret is that waited so long. I’ve played since early teens but never bothered with anything except cowboy chords. Ryan helps make sense of music theory and how it applies to the guitar even for the novice like me. Anybody interested in learning to play or to play correctly, I’d highly recommend Ryan Jerzak.

Started with Ryan a couple months ago and honestly I was super nervous starting out.. he quickly helped me ease into guitar. He knows his stuff very very well. He is super helpful not only in playing the instrument but learning about the development and theory of it all! He is super friendly too-makes me look forward to guitar every week! Super awesome!

Ryan is the second person I took guitar lessons with from a very early stage in my playing until today where he helps support my musical endeavors. He’s a very heartfelt guy, a great guitarist, and an outstanding instructor and friend.

Ryan has been giving my son lessons for the past 3 years. I have watched my son ability to play, jump from leaps to bounds! My son has learned so much from him, more then I have ever expected! Ryan is a virtuoso guitar player who can teach in a relatable way to us regular Joes. I've played at a mediocre level (or worse) for 30 years - I've always referred to myself as someone who "plays songs on guitar", but never a "musician". Last year I decided it was now or never and committed myself to becoming a real musician. YouTube vids were never going to cut it, so I searched for the right teacher to take consistent lessons from...then the pandemic hit. I found Ryan but was skeptical about Skype lessons. I took the plunge anyway, and...wow...he has opened all the doors that I thought would never open. My technique has improved and my knowledge of theory and ability to apply it has me finally feeling like a true musician. My only regret is not finding him 10-20 years ago!
