Delicious food at a great price. The atmosphere was amazing with the live music going on next door. There was plenty of outdoor seating when we arrived. We came here for a quick lunch snack and weren’t disappointed. Great little area to walk around as well and checkout the nearby shops and bakeries. Before you leave, get a paleta!

Love the food the gorditas and the piña coladas where amazing. Nice place. We spend around 40$ 4 gorditas 2 piñas coladas and some nachos with queso. The gorditas are big , bigger than your average gordita they are about 3.50-4$ each .

Food first of all is great! I come from a heritage of real Mexican food and this gets close, even though it's the Midwest. Service was great, facility was clean. Only downfall is the surrounding area is a mix of races who I'm assuming all live in this area, whom don't seem to get along. Just and observation from an outsider. Rid the place of crime and or relocate. Either way I still rated it high cause we're used to these situations.

My partner and I wanted to celebrate our short trip to St. Louis with a night out and we stumbled upon this restaurant unexpectedly. It was a welcome surprise! The customer service was so friendly and I felt like they really cared about the quality of the food they were putting out. Waiting in line took a bit longer than some may expect, but that was mostly due to people coming in not wearing masks then having to be asked to put on a mask before they continued their order. We appreciated the employees’ efficiency getting our order put in and read back to us to make sure they heard us correctly. Super awesome people across the board. A great selection of proteins for your tacos and their rice is awesome. The flavor was outstanding on everything we got and the portions were huge. We both also got the jumbo size house margarita and they were SO good. We ate the orange slice that came with it and stole a sip before we snapped a pic, sorry!!! Overall the pricing was fantastic for the flavor, quantity, and quality of what you’re getting. The employees even had some disrespectful customers in the time we were there and they handled it smoothly and with so much grace. This will be a spot we are bound to return to when we get a chance to come back to STL in the near future. Thanks for treating us so well!

Wow!! I have found my people! Best authentic Mexican food I’ve found to date. Great place off of Cherokee street. We ordered the fish tacos, a chicken (pollo)burrito, and some street beef tacos, and even some chicken tenders with fries for the children. Everyone was happy with their bellies full. Seriously, can’t wait to try more other items. Their guacamole was good too. Very happy with this place. Also, I would like to proudly State their containers are 100% biodegradable. That is fantastic!!

I had the cachete, lengua, and cabeza tacos, they were very solid choices - I would’ve preferred them as more of a street taco style with just cilantro and onions, but they were very tasty. As a 200lb man, that wasn’t enough food, I’m probably going to have the torta next time because of the larger portions. My michelada though was the best I’ve had in St Louis so far and would be worth returning back for.

Their customer service was excellent and their ordering system was very quick and people were getting their food fast. Overall, I would highly recommend !

We were trying to go to the Tacos and Ice cream joint down the street…which says its open til 8 on google…we arrived at about 6:45, parked, walked up and found out they were closed (luckily for us). Our disappointment turned into enthusiasm when we saw La Vallesana basically across the street. When I say I have never had street tacos so flavorful, fresh, and filling. Plus our drinks have had us laughing for hours! My kids CLEANED their plates and we got homemade Ice cream to go that we’re too full to eat. I can’t WAIT to go back!

Absolutely love this place. Lunch date with my sis. Had a great time. Atmosphere always nice, even on Cinco de Mayo. Food is always good. They gave us the wrong chicken instead of hot wings they got us our wings quick. Awesome customer service. Drinks, omg the drinks were so bomb. Get it in a pineapple, even better. This is a must try! Please try the shrimp tacos. Those were the absolute best. Omg so fire!! Forgot pic of hot wings lol. We tore them up.

La Vallesana

Hey! This place is solid. You can count on a freaking awesome plate every time. Tacos, quesadillas, tortas and way more than I'm going to mention here…. My go to is the camerones al diablo (well, currently, anyways) and I have decided that between the quesadilla and the torta, the torta wins. It's the grilled bread with crispy cheese edges and idk how they do it but this is a sandwich that keeps me coming back for more.

I've been coming to this place formerly known to myself and others affectionately as The Taco Stand for over a couple decades! It seriously used to be a one room shack on the corner of California and Cherokee. Now the enlarged building multiplies its size by at least 10! The outdoor patio on the corner is larger than the whole joint started out.

It's now formatted so you order and seat yourself, which works out well as far as I can tell. And takeout is just as easy. IT DOES GET BUSY, so if you suspect you're in a time crunch you could always go to another spot nearby and grab Mexican at a (potentially) less busy spot.

ALL of the Mexican restaurants on Cherokee have great items on their menus and and it's worth exploring all of them to see what you like where. But basically La Vallesana is my go-to when I'm not being particular and maybe want to go be anonymous somewhere.

The last thing I have to say about La Vallesana is that you might want to think about dessert first, so you can save room. When you enter, all the house made ice cream and aguas frescas like horchata are also not to be overlooked. Plan ahead.

Saturdays seem to be busiest and I am here on a Tuesday after lunch rush, and there's still a steady flow of customers. 5 stars out of 5 here. Glad to support local growth and a minority owned business on Cherokee Street.

Grabbed a quick bite from this authentic Mexican restaurant. The Al pastor taco are amazingly delicious! They have grilled pineapples in it, which is my favorite! They take the liberty to pile on the protein. Super affordable tacos for $2.50 each.

Had a great time! They had a nice dining area in the back of the restaurant and a cute open patio space as well. The strawberry frozen margarita was delicious, as well as the pork tacos and rice. Will visit again!

For a more authentic experience walk across the street and snag a taco from one of the taco stands, but during the warm months this is a great place to go with a group of people to have good Mexican food.

Authentic Mexican flavors and atmosphere. The tacos were perfectly seasoned with just enough spice. The guacamole was perfection. Great service.

The food and service we're top notch! Prices were reasonable and our Server Maria was great! It was a limited menu due to Cinco de Mayo and I am excited to go back and see what the full menu has to offer. The guacamole and carne asada quesadilla were delicious. The patio is adorable and you get a real feel like you are in Mexico. A great authentic Mexican restaurant in St. Louis!
