Hickory River Smokehouse Decatur

This Texas style BBQ is delicious and offers all kinds of BBQ meats, daily sides and more. We had the 2 meat dinner and it's enough for leftovers. Will go again next time we're in Decatur/ Mt Zion

Edit: 11/28/2023: Since my earlier review, I've eaten again at HR, and my pulled pork sandwich was perfect this time around! My faith in HR has been restored! On another note, we ordered the Thanksgiving dinner from HR. The turkey was prepared to perfection and delicious. The side dishes tasted just like they were home-made. We've been ordering Thanksgiving dinners from HR now for several years. The dinners have been exceptional every time. I admit we've strayed a couple of times by ordering from the big chain restaurants like BE and CB. Eh, they were okay I guess. Neither hold a candle next to HR for flavor, quality, and value for the money. Family members ask for leftovers and there's always plenty of leftovers to send home.

These awesome ppl worked on Thanksgiving to make sure our families had a feast. They were so friendly, brought the food to the car, and for 130 bucks fed my whole family. Highly recommended and a HUGE THANK YOU to all of you at Hickory River!

In town for work & was lucky enough to stumble upon this gem. Food was EXCELLENT! I tried nearly everything on the menu & found it all to my liking. Staff members exceeded expectations as they were friendly, courteous, and just the type of people I'd trust to prepare a great meal. I have been to other Hickory River locations & this one blows them all out of the water. Thank you for making my stay better Eric & team

Hickory River Smokehouse is one of my FAVORITE places to eat. If you go (and you should) you need to try their 'Cue Shoe. It takes the fan favorite horseshoe to a whole new level. The best part about Hickory River? They have a drive through! Not only can I get my 'Cue Shoe at lunch time, but I don't even have to get out of the car to get it. The staff is friendly and the service is great.

Brisket was tuff, asked for mild sauce got hot instead, asked for potato skins plain got a Hugh potato cut in half. It was hard to cut. Took it home and recorded it. Left brisket for their garbage, but the pepsi was good. Won't spend 55.00 there again for brisket, I get the rubbed chicken wings instead

Incredibly delicious. I have eaten at barbecue joints in dozens of states and this one is among the best I have been to. Even an hour before close the brisket and pork were fantastic. The corn bread brilliant. While it may cost above average, it’s huge portions and worth every cent. Mild bbq I’d buy by the gallon.

Brisket was amazing! Everything was so good, even the smell when we walked in! The staff is friendly and helpful.

Good food and good service. I had the smoked ham sandwich with the honey bbq sauce and a side of scalloped potatoes which were also full of ham. They were both really good. Most of the time I get the pulled pork nachos but decided to try something different. Love their brisket too.
