Uncle Julio's North Ave

Had an amazing lunch after a family 5k in city. Server mentioned fajitas were their specialty I totally agree. We split the shrimp fajitas paired with a spicy Nina margarita and had the piñata dessert. Just enough no frills lunch. They make the tortillas in main dining area pretty cool and delicious!

Such a nice atmosphere food was good and the dessert was awesome!!! I liked the tortilla machine making fresh tortillas. The waiter was nice he could have checked on the table more often but overall I'll be coming back. Only negative is the valet parking we literally parked our own car in the lot 20ft from the restaurant and were charged $12 to park.

Been coming here over 20yrs.... and never have been disappointed. The service is great, food has changed a bit in quantity, but still great.

We had the table side Guacamole (customized Guac) special in which they will make the Guacamole in front of you. It was the best Guacamole for me. The service was very nice. Our waiters was all nice and attentive. They make their own tacos. They have a taco machine and you will be able to see how they make. It was sp entertaining to watch them make food.

The assistant manager Lindsey, was very pleasant over the phone and in person. She was very warm, kind, and went above and beyond to be helpful. She packed my order herself and went over everything with me to make sure my order was correct. When the service matches the food you can't go wrong. Great experience all together.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in the city. The food quality is amazing
…the meat is perfectly seasoned and cooked… and the customer service is beyond expectation.

I’ve been here probably 15 to 20 times and I’ve never had a bad experience so I’m hoping that streak stays up!! lol I would recommend this place to anybody who wants to try some good quality taco meat and a reasonable price. They also have a great lunch special

I got the steak and chicken fajitas for one. The steak and chicken were perfectly grilled in a buttery baste. The rice and beans were solid and the chips and salsa were a tasty appetizer. The only downside was the guac which wasn't salty or acidic but worked well within a tortilla. Overall combining all the elements together made for a delicious, filling dinner.

Walked in, waited to be seated, and observed Mexican authenticity. I had the Carne asada well done, steak was tender, not chewy, and presention was eye-catching. My wife had the chicken breast tender, not dry. My daughter had the kid meal beef taco. All in all, we had a pleasant time there.

Augustin is the best!! I came in for a quick bite during happy hour - I only had a little bit of time and he was super attentive and went out of his way to get everything bagged up for me. The hosts were friendly too and accommodating as I came alone and asked to sit outside. The deals for happy hour are great, $5 for a frozen Swirl which is my favorite!! First time at this location and I’ll definitely be back for Augustin!! <3

Walked in and got a table in 20 mins. The food did not disappoint. The service is great and this location was filled with birthday parties. They are known for their fajitas and margaritas! Give it a try if you are in the area. Definitely recommend!

This was my very first experience eating at this restaurant after having heard so much about it. The one thing I was told to try was the Swirl. It DID NOT disappoint, but I'd like to gush about the guacamole. I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it's freshly made RIGHT THERE AT YOUR TABLE. And the guy that made ours was so informative and he also provided tips. There was so much that I wanted to order on the menu but I didn't have any room left in my tummy. I will be trying this again!

My first visit, I wanted something different so my son suggested Uncle Julio's . I enjoyed the experience everything was hot and fresh. And Michael our sever was very helpful, kind and friendly. I will return

Finally got to try this place after driving by it so many times. Well worth it! Valet parking is required; you’ll pay $7 for lunch, $10 for dinner. I find this a bit excessive but the parking lot is small so this is probably necessary.

We were warmly greeted and seated immediately for our Sunday lunch. The service was great! Our waitress was attentive and personable. The chips and salsa were addicting 😂 I had the vegetable fajitas with the mesquite shrimp added. My sister got the pulled chicken quesadilla which is an appetizer but certainly enough for a meal! The food was incredible and the portion sizes were sufficient for the price.

We got the grapefruit margarita and Swirl drinks. So tasty!

I highly recommend this place and am excited about going back!

Best Mexican food I have ever had. The guacamole was greater than I could have ever imagined, and I easily got full on the chips. I appreciated that we were provided two different types of salsas.

When they offer complimentary beans, they don’t specify what kinds of beans you get. Everyone in my party expected refried beans, but we all got whole beans. Some of us had spicy beans, others had regular beans.

We ran out of water several times and it took a bit longer than expected to get a new pitcher. The bathrooms were a completely different vibe from the rest of the restaurant and could use an update.

Great food and service. Very limited parking. Drinks are spot on and food came quickly. If you can walk there, your better off. Chips and salsa are very good too!

We had a terrific experience at Uncle Julios as always. The service, food, Margaritas, and music was beyond satisfying. I’ve always visited Julios in the early evening when it’s bustling with patrons. Last night we visited in the late evening and was surprised to find a near empty restaurant. This was perfect! It felt as though we’d rented the restaurant for a private dining experience!

The salsa and white queso made for perfect appetizers, follows by our selection of avocado taco salad, and sampler entree. The Platinum swirl was amazing! However, there was one thing that really stood out more than the music, food, and drinks. It was the option to digitally settle the bill electronically out at your table. In a world where security isn’t secure at all, this was a great expression of Julio’s level of awareness and desire to maintain the trust of it’s patrons! We never had to hand our card Over. We were handed a device that displayed the charges and gave the option to pay with our card.

Walked in on a Saturday an hour after opening, not busy at all. Waiter was prompt and provided house chips and salsa. I had a jalapeno margarita with chicken/steak fajitas. Fajitas were good. The margarita didn't have much heat, but was delicious. The restaurant has a parking lot that is $7 valet. I left a bit after 2pm, and the crowd had picked up by then.

I had the delicious seared tuna tacos with a virgin piña colada. Guacamole made from scratch right in front of us! Everything tasted great. Service is super awesome and our waiter was very friendly. Best of all, no opposition to me breastfeeding at the table. I think no one even noticed. Hope to swing by this place again if we go back to Chicago. The piñata dessert looked like fun to eat!

Happy New Year! I thought it was imperative that you are aware of the superlative, outstanding customer service that my family and I received at Chicago's North Ave Uncle Juilo's restaurant. Specifically, Mr. Kyle Hancock was professional, pleasant and delivered superb customer service. He exceeded my expectations and was willing to accommodate our large order with specific culinary requests. Mr. Hancock's leadership was commendable and admirable. It truly made our dining experience that much more enjoyable. The food was scrumptious!

I wanted to post my positive experience, so that Mr. Hancock receives the accolades that is well deserved. He represented Uncle Juilo's restaurant with the highest level of quality customer service. Updated Review: Unfortunately, they changed the flavor profile of pretty much every dish. I would no longer recommend this place to anyone. The food was ok, but there are much better TexMex restaurants.

Original review:This is one of the first texmex restaurants I tried when I first moved to Chicago and by far my favorite. Fifteen years later it is still my favorite texmex restaurant. The chips and salsa are fantastic and I highly recommend trying the original queso. I have never had a bad meal here.
