Tad's Chicken N' Dumplins

Such a cool historical restaurant. The music is old school 20’s to 40’s the view is amazing. This place has been around since the Great Depression. The staff is friendly and the food is amazing. The portions are large and taste comforting like grandma used to make. I would eat hear again in an instance. Family of 4 is going to cost you $100 but worth it. 5 stars.

This has been my favorite restaurant for decades!! The prime rib was excellent & cooked to perfection. And my friends pan fried chicken was delicious. We'll definitely be back!!

Wonderful dining experience. Great PNW atmosphere along the river just off the scenic highway. Amazing classic comfort food. Check out the photo of the Chicken N' Dumplings. Restaurant was busy but we were seated and served quickly. The wait staff was amazingly efficient yet friendly and worked together extremely well. Restaurant is up for sale. Owner's been working there for 55 years. Hope new owners keep everything just as it is.

Cute rustic looking. We shared chicken and dumplings order. There was plenty for sharing and they bring extra big home made dumplings and extra gravy. This is a must stop when in Troutdale. Sorry I didn't take a picture of giant dumplings

Outstanding service and scrumptious comfort food at Tad’s.

While you might think they only serve chicken and dumplings, they also offer salads, pasta, seafood, and beef dishes.

Large chunks of light and dark meat chicken are hidden under dumplings that are like puffy pillows smothered in chicken gravy. One order will feed two people. Frankly, these are better than Mom used to make!

Wonderful historic restaurant on the river. Chicken and dumplings are very good as are other items on menu. A little pricey but with it. Enjoy. Usually a wait to get in.

Go hungry. The portions here are large and filling. They're known for their chicken and dumplings, but the have so much more, including a really good selection of seafood. Yum. Ask to sit in the lower level if you'd like to see views of the river. This is an especially great option to see the sun setting over the mountains. Bob appetit

This place is amazing! Like an old time roadhouse from the 50's with wood paneling and fireplace. The chicken dumplings are shareable by 2 people for a small $2 sharing fee but plenty of food.

Amazing space and location right on the Sandy River. Great staff and delicious comfort food. Feels like stepping back in time. Lived in Portland all my life and just got the chance to get here recently. Wish I had been sooner.

Old fashion road house eatery with friendly service reminiscent of small town life. The chicken and dumplings were outstanding! Generous portions perfect for sharing. Go before sunset the view of the Sandy River is breathtaking!

Had a wonderful meal here. I had the fried scallops, fresh and sweet, perfectly fried; not rubbery. Everyone else at the table loved their food as well. Did I mention the dumplings? Ok, so I am a Yankee, so I don't know diddly about dumplings (disclaimer), but I do know heaven when it is in my mouth. Doubt me? Then just take a drive over the Columbia River if you happened to be in the vicinity of Gresham or Wood Village, OR and let heaven bloom in your mouth as well. And if you find that your gandma makes a better dumpling... send me the darn recipe, PLEASE.

Always great service and the food is fantastic!! Everytime we come into town we have to come to Tad's!! Sorry, we forgot to take pictures of the food because it is always so darn good.

Great service, wonderful food, home style just good food. Our waitress was adorable and very thoughtful.

Lovely crispy coated oysters! Lots of buttery sauteed prawns in a green/red/orange pepper and mushroom sautee with chicken broth sauce.

Excellent food even after 40 plus years. Haven't been here in over 12 years, and the food us still as amazing as I remember it if not better.

Went on a busy Saturday night (8/27/16) and were fortunate enough to get a parking space as someone was leaving. We expected to wait however, were offered a choice of inside or outside seating by a Hostess who seemed to be very much on top of things as she knew what she had available without having to refer to a chart. The service was very good and the entire staff seemed to be in sync. Dishes were cleared promptly and drinks refilled etc. at the appropriate times...just enough attention without over doing it.
The Chicken & dumplings were excellent and many of the other dishes that other patrons ordered seemed to be well prepared and appealing. I thought the menu had good value throughout and it made for a very good visit.

Comfort food to the max! Chicken and Dumplings to die for. Super friendly waitstaff. Went on Father's Day, so very, very busy. Parking sucks but the food is worth it. Great view of the Sandy River if you get lucky enough to get a view table. Love it!
