Where do I begin? It has been quite the long journey since I was served divorce papers.  I knew I needed to hire an attorney, so I did a Google search on “Best Divorce Attorneys in Metro Detroit”, and I came across BEST INTEREST LAW. I read all the (good) reviews and also noticed the high Star rating. So blindly going into the process of divorce, I called. I nervously spoke with Dennis over the phone and discussed my matters with him within an hour after I had left him a voice mail. He told me what to expect and advised me to begin preparing for certain steps and phases of the process. He helped me in every possible way from the beginning all the way to the end. He would always make sure that I fully understood some of the verbiage that was written before me. He always guided me in to making the right decisions both on professional and personal levels. He was very supportive and took the time to listen to me when I just needed someone to talk to regarding the difficult hardships of divorce. Dennis is a fantastic divorce lawyer who truly cares about his clients. He will work tirelessly on your case and he will not leave any stone unturned. I hired family law attorney, Dennis Germain, to represent me in a motion to modify child custody in Macomb County Circuit Court. I hired him after being unsatisfied with the services of my previous divorce attorney. Dennis had a painstaking intake process to collect information and secure supporting documentation and witnesses. It took some time for us to be fully prepared to initiate our case, so I had to be patient. But I recognized that this leg work was putting us in the strongest position to achieve our goals.

Once we were satisfied with our preparation, Dennis sent initial proposals to my ex-wife and her attorney, of which they rejected outright. In response, Dennis filed a motion to modify custody with a supporting brief and documents, and we went on the attack. We were much more prepared than my ex-wife and her attorney, and we dominated at the referee hearing on my motion to modify custody and parenting time. For every argument that opposing counsel had, Dennis and I had a better counter-argument, along with the supporting documents, corroborating examples, and witnesses on deck. The referee ruled overwhelmingly in my favor. When my ex-wife and her attorney objected to the referee recommendation, we had to go in front of the judge, and we dominated again. Dennis was much more prepared, he knew the law better, he knew the facts better, and his written work product was exceedingly better than our opponent’s.

After getting backed into a corner and being repeatedly demoralized in court, my ex-wife had nowhere left to go other than losing to us at trial. She folded and gave in to the custody and parenting time arrangement that I had initially asked for (the one that she had initially rejected), plus I was awarded a few other concessions. As icing on the cake, I also had my child support greatly reduced. Dennis was communicative, fair, and always made time for me. I strongly recommend his services, and I have even recommended family and others to him following my case.

Words cannot convey my gratitude and appreciation for Attorney Dennis Germain.
Unfortunately, to fully understand the magnitude of the service he provides his clients, I must share some of my story.
After many years of marriage, I was blind-sided to learn of my ex-husband’s infidelity and illegal activities. I spent a great amount of time in denial; hoping to correct the problem within my marriage; but he wanted a divorce to pursue his new interest. I was emotionally drained, and close to a break down.
My ex was in an prominent position and could afford to hire a top attorney, while I am disabled with a limited income. Not knowing where to turn, I went on referral and chose another top attorney. The process turned into a nightmare, with his high-powered attorney dominating the divorce proceedings, and me just being another of my attorney’s many cases. Months went by with my ex emptying bank accounts and leaving myself and my children without adequate funds. Motions to rectify the situation were adjourned countless times, until I just gave up. My attorney on record advised me to just let it go.
A year after my divorce was finalized, I was still waiting for the terms of judgement to be met. I went to many other attorneys who confirmed the wrong doing, but would not take my case due to the complexity and prominence of opposing counsel. I was at my wits end, when I was referred to Dennis Germain from a representative from the Friend of the Court.
Upon meeting with Dennis, he discussed the difficulty with my case, and outlined for me the correct procedures and actions necessary to achieve a favorable outcome. He admitted my case was a nightmare, and at first declined to take the case. It bothered Dennis the neglect for the law, so he contacted me and did take my case.

My ex and his attorney attempted every trick possible; even threatening to have me prosecuted and jailed for stalking, if I continued with my motion; as I had hired a private investigator to confirm and document my ex’s wrong doings. Dennis would not be intimidated, and assured me it was only a ploy.
Dennis researches each aspect of your case, and has a great understanding of the law. He cannot be bullied, or threatened; and despite the age, prominence, or nature of opposing counsel, knows what is right and stands up for his clients. With Dennis as my attorney, I was no longer badgered or manipulated. Dennis is a force to be reckoned with in court, and thoroughly prepares for each encounter. He is highly detailed and has the facts and case law to support his claims.
Dennis takes his time for his clients. You are not pushed aside, or become one of his “many” cases, he makes you feel as if you are his most important client. He treats you with respect, is extremely professional, and his attention to detail impeccable.
Dennis is a gem, and without his assistance, I would still be waiting for relief from the court and fearful of the “next” ploy my ex would use to dominate and manipulate me. Needless to say, with Dennis Germain as my counsel, I am no longer harassed and I am finally living a happier life.

I hired attorney, Dennis Germain, to assist me in my custody case. I am a mother of a young daughter. At the outset of my case, my daughter had been residing in Michigan with the family of her paternal father for quite some time, while I had been residing in Indiana. The child’s father and his original attorney initiated the custody case with a sneak attack. I contacted many family law attorneys in the Macomb County area inquiring about how to win primary physical custody of our daughter, and how to have her primary residence moved to Indiana with me. Every attorney that I spoke with essentially informed me that I had no chance of achieving my goals. Even the custody investigator in our case advised me that I had no chance for success. Finally, I was able to get in contact with family law attorney, Dennis Germain. Dennis informed me that achieving my goals would take a miracle, and would require a lot of patience and hard work on my part. He made no promises about results, but stated that he was willing to do everything he could to give me the best opportunity to achieve these goals. I hired Dennis and he did do “everything” and more to put me in the position to regain custody of my daughter. In the end, we pulled off a miracle, and I am now thankful to share that we succeeded in my goals! Dennis filed a motion to have Father’s first attorney removed from the case for conflict of interest, leading to the first attorney to voluntarily withdraw from the case. Once Father obtained a new attorney, Dennis went on a relentless pursuit of discovery. Dennis sent out subpoenas, interrogatories, requests to admit, and requests for documents to Father’s attorney, and to Father’s witnesses. Dennis and I conducted our own private investigations to get every piece of evidence available to support my case. Dennis conducted days of depositions, we gradually dismantled Father’s theories about the case. We caused Father and his witnesses to severely incriminate Father about important facts related to the case, and we shattered the credibility of his witnesses. Dennis engaged in hours of legal research with regard to the complicated aspects of my case. Dennis attacked Father and his attorney procedurally with motion after motion, outsmarting the other side and fighting for every inch to get us in the best position for trial. When Father repeatedly refused to comply with discovery and violated court orders, Dennis was able to get the judge to sanction Father to pay portions of my costs and legal fees. At the start of this case, Father and his attorney treated the case as an easy win for them. However, as the court case went on, and Father was handed one procedural loss after another, his morale began to weaken. At trial Dennis and I appeared with an extensive, organized trial brief, boxes of materials, exhibit binders, deposition transcripts, and demonstrative diagrams outlining our theory of the case. On the day of trial, Father folded and stipulated to 50/50 custody! About a year later, we started the case again, and Dennis and I were back in action. Again, Dennis did a complete analysis and intake regarding all of the factual updates to my case. We went to mediation highly prepared with the goal of persuading the mediator, Father, and his attorney that Father was going to have no chance against us at trial. And that is exactly what happened! Father eventually conceded and signed a consent order in my favor. I was finally able to achieve my ultimate goal of gaining primary physical custody of my daughter in Indiana, particularly during the school year. Dennis had a very deliberate, complex, and long-term strategy from the start. It was difficult to be patient, but we stayed the course, trusted the plan, and a little over two years, it paid off. We won!I am thankful for Dennis’s services. I am highly satisfied with his legal services.

I am a mother who works somewhere in between part time and full time.  I hired Attorney Dennis Germain for my divorce case in Macomb County.  I am completely satisfied with his family law services.   My ex-husband also hired an attorney.  Mr. Germain did a very great job of being cooperative yet aggressive at the same time.  Mr. Germain was very clever in his approach which allowed me to get what I wanted out of the divorce without making it ugly or completely alienating my ex-husband and his attorney.  I was awarded primary custody rights, a more than fair property and debt award, payment of most of my bills for a set period of time, spousal support, and child support.  These extra awards are helping me to get better integrated in the work force and making the transition to my post-divorce life much more manageable.  Plus I still have a decent relationship with my ex-husband, which is, of course best for the children.  Due to our arrangements and separation goals, my ex-husband and I had some very unique requests in terms of custody, cohabitation, payment of bills, and support.  This was no problem for Mr. Germain who offered creative drafting solutions to our unique needs.  My husband was the one who hired an attorney and filed the case as the Plaintiff.  But when I hired Mr. Germain, he jumped right in and took the case over.   He was in full control of how it was all going to go down.  I am very happy I hired Dennis Germain as my lawyer.  He is a great family law and divorce attorney.
