Benson Branch, Omaha Public Library

It’s a smaller library, but the space is nice & clean! Very accessible to get to in Benson.

I came in to sign up for a library card, and the librarian who helped me was very sweet! She got me set up with my card, answered all of my questions, showed me the online website & app features, and then pulled a book from the back to be shelved that I had been looking for.

There is a children’s section, teen space, parking, bathroom, elevator & stairs, and a self checkout. I will definitely be coming back due to the space itself & friendliness of the librarian!

Love the OPL zine collection! If you make a zine, you can submit it. The Opera Omaha poetry and music project is a really cool one- all kids Kindergarten through 12th grade can submit poems, then it is turned into a zine and a copy is given to OPL. Selected poems are also used to compose a piece of music performed by UNO music students and Opera Omaha members! Check it out!! :)

Very nice space. Larger array of books from diverse authors; quiet place to relax and enjoy reading and working on projects, and the kids area is superb! My favorite part is the meeting rooms and the fact that you can eat at designated tables while you work or read.

Free WiFi. Older building with a good variety of physical books. They also have paid printers and free access to desktop computers. There is also a section that allows for food consumption which is not something I’ve seen in a library before so that makes a convenient option.

What can I say, it’s books that you borrow. But no, it’s more than that it’s about a very appreciative staff and I always enjoy going there.

I found just one of the books on my list, but the wonderful librarian printed out an entire 11 page PDF of authors in the same genre in which I was looking. She also encouraged me to suggest titles for the library to buy that I would like to see on the shelf. She was incredibly friendly and kind. We chatted about the books we were currently reading and just had a nice conversation in general. We love librarians!! Not only that, but there were lots of teens hanging out in the teen section reading books, laughing, and just hanging out after school. What a wonderful environment these librarians have created for our community!

We love the library The people are so nice here I've been Benson library. I love the high ceiling with beautiful wood that was built in the 1930s. They also have seeds that always grow when you plant them if you have a library card you can get 15 packs of seeds a month we're growing pretty flowers right now. That's pretty big and some toys to play with.

We take our four, six, and eight year old boys every Saturday for the Music and Movement class and our four year old every Tuesday for storytime. We then hang around anywhere for an hour to two hours afterward. I think it's necessary to have these free services and events in order for the people be able to do well for future generations. It teaches them so much, from the earliest learning onto the elderly generations. Even I'm learning how to better understand utilizing Omaha Public library systems that I didn't understand when I was growing, and I had anxiety to ask or even attempt for fear of looking dumb. I'm happy to be able to share this with my children so that they may have greater skills and resources than I had at their age. Now there is a survey going on to ask what the people would like to see in their OPL systems. I'm super happy they're interested in what we have to say. I'm hoping it's a true interest in us and that our responses will make a clear difference in the future development of our OPLs. Great location.

The atmosphere of the Library was great. The staff was very helpful. It hurt my soul to see that there wood pieces in th he doors because of vandslism.

I know you can go on your smart phones and look up a lot of stuff but there's nothing like going to a library and actually looking for books to read from children books to young adults to adults

Great library use it often, very friendly and helpful staff, plus many other things offered and can get involved in there.

I love this library! I'm so glad it exists in Benson. Great staff and beautiful architecture and interior set-ups. No complaints here. Everything is bright and open. From computer areas to study rooms, sectioned off very well. The people who work here and the items available are all amazing resources.

My son loves it there!!! Amazing selection of books, movies, cds, ect.! Lots of fun programs and activities throughout the year. Just a great place all around! Thank you!

It was very quiet during my short visit. I easily found the book I was looking for. I knew it was there by checking online first.

My kid's favorite Benson spot! Has a separate teen room, and other separate study rooms for enhanced quiet and privacy.

It's The Secret Room where Warren Buffett loved to read and spent many hours with books he checked out of.
