Dan was fantastic, very professional and honest.
I rushed into his shop late one night when my car started shaking and wobbling down the road. Dropped my keys with a note in the box and crossed my fingers.
I thought for sure it would be something terrible. The next day he had it looked over by his mechanic and got back to me with in a couple of hours of the shop opening and let me know it was mechanically sound, just that my tires were splitting causing the wobble. He offered me a very fair rate for a new set and could get me back on the road safely in a matter of hours. He also explained the status of my brake pads and gave me a fair rate to fix them as well, but was honest in telling me I would be safe to wait a little bit. I ended up getting my tires taken care of by their warranty at a tire shop, and waiting on the brake repair.
He wrote up an invoice for me so I would know what was recommended and didn’t charge me for the rushed diagnosis, I am so thankful to have found such a great auto shop and will be keeping them in mind for the future!

My 2006 Toyota Tundra was riding like a lumber wagon. I was recommended by a good friend to check these guys out. Dan and Paige are the most friendly people. They found a few issues and gave me a more that fair quote to repair and get me back on the road. All I have to say is amazing work, it's like a new truck! I will be back with my other vehicles.

Have taken two of my vehicles to Automotive Enginuity, and each time I've gotten in quickly and received excellent service, at rates that are more than reasonable! Very, very helpful. I was traveling for business in an Audi and had a coolant leak. Called Automotive Enginuity because they were the closest place to where I broke down. Dan the owner, suggested a tow company and they showed up in less than 10 mins to tow me in. Once the car was diagnosed, we decided I leave the car for a couple of days to perform the fix. Dan then drove me to the airport to catch my flight home. Flew back up to Minneapolis on a Sunday to pick up the car to drive back home to Chicago. Once the car was under coolant pressure, there was a pinhole leak from a hose and still was losing coolant. Drove back to the shop and Dan came out, on a Sunday, to fix the hose. Problem solved. But, because Dan didn’t want me to get stranded if anything happen on my 6 hour drive back, he gave me a gallon of coolant, some hose clamps, a wrench to tighten the clamps if necessary, and some rags. Holy cow, what service!!!!!

If I was from this area, I’d get every vehicle I own serviced from Automotive Enginuity!!! True professionals and great service! Thank you very much Dan and the team at Automotive Enginuity.

The story: One bleak Saturday, I was driving along the highway, when all of a sudden white smoke started billowing out of the hood. Frantically, I took the first exit I could find. Fortunately someone at the gas station knew about Automotive Enginuity--I would have been completely toast without them.

Dan doesn't work with cars as a simple day job--he has a passion for cars, and it really shows in his work. He knew my car inside out, and had every widget and gadget ready in his shop. He takes special care to make sure that his work is good for the environment: collecting oil in a special drain so it doesn't go to run-off, recycling tires, and using special washes that won't trash the planet.

It was a miracle that this was the *first* place I could drag my car--this is literally the best car service I have ever received and I would drive out of my way to get there. After hours of service, I was expecting a huge bill, but Dan hardly charged me anything!

It's the kind of amazing place that only happens when individual entrepreneurs take business into their own hands instead of working for the big corporations. Thanks, Dan, for being there in my hour of need!

First and foremost Dan is a great guy who will do everything to find your problems before they become a major problem. He will fix your problem in a timely fashion and will give you a loaner car, so you're not stuck without a car to get to places. He serviced my car with excellence and I'm very happy he's the one who has done it.
I had a issue where my car wouldn't drive pass 45+ mph and I thought it was a transmission problem. I gave it to Dan, he did so many different tests to pinpoint the cause. He could of just told me to replaced my transmission, because the car is at 196k and would make sense that the transmission was the issue, but he figured out it wasn't my transmission. He continued to test what else could cause this problem. Dan had to do a test that Acura/Honda cars would never have problems with, because they are so reliable, but I guess my car was the one in a million with this issue. The problem was my fuel pump was failing after reaching 45+mph. Dan called me and told me the problem and he fixed it. The car drives perfect now. I'm very happy I met him and his fine establishment. I would recommend him to all who want a trustworthy person to fix your problems.

Dan is one of the most knowledgeable mechanics I have ever met. The first time I had him do some work on my vehicle, he told me to come back into the shop so he could show me what he had to do and what the old parts looked like. SOLD! He is the first mechanic I would trust with any make and model car I will ever get. Dan has done every major repair to my 04 Silverado. The front differential, 4x4, transfer case, rear differential, oil changes, tires, brakes. He does it all. And his integrity and honesty are very much a breath of fresh air in the automotive repair world. If you have brought it to a mechanic and they can't figure it out, you NEED to bring it down to Automotive Enginuity. Thanks Dan and Paige. You guys rock! Keep it up.

Extended Review: This review is long overdue. Hands down the best mechanic I've ever been to. I brought my Lexus SC400 in there for the timing belt and a misfire when nobody else could figure out the misfire. 3 shops, even the Lexus dealership I brought it to refused to acknowledge the fact that I even had a misfire, coming and going 3 times each time being told 'Runs fine for us!' and sent on my way.

So by suggestion of one of my coworkers, I brought it to Dan, hopeless, down-and-out, ready for him to also be unable to help my scenario. I'm going to do some blatant foreshadowing by telling you all that my car is sitting outside right now and runs flawlessly. It was a long, time-consuming process that once completed and I picked up my car I nearly cried of joy. My car was an absolute nightmare, and honestly I am shocked that he stuck to it to the very end. There was no getting this car to behave, it just refused. It became a personal vendetta of his; he went in on his days off, didn't charge me labor for it, was a start-to-finish sport about the whole thing. He's the only person that I've come across that could figure out the problem, and I'm more thankful than you could imagine.

The customer service is great, the employees are great, and the prices are great for such an artisan mechanic, but that isn't what really drove me to write this review. Dan is a man who loves what he does, and it shows in his work. My car was fighting him and not cooperating but he wasn't having any of that, he was determined to know what was causing it, it almost seemed like he wouldn't let it leave the shop until he knew what was causing it, he NEEDED to know, because it was his job, and he loves what he does. He put in more work and charged me less than any other shop I have ever been to, and I would recommend them to anyone, everyone, and I will.
