La Pergola

This is a beautiful restaurant. Came here to celebrate a birthday. We sat outside in the garden and it was perfect. The lighting and mood was very warm and inviting. We brought a few bottles of wine and champagne. It was 6 of us. The menu is very small but they did have daily special that the waiter was more than happy to tell us about. Thats how we got the delicious and crispy fried calamari. The sauce it came with, we were fighting over. Very delicious. So was the chicken parm that is served on a cutting board. Very fun! My favorite was my dish the gnocchi with short ribs. Amazing! Every bite was just so good. This would be a wonderful place for a date night. As a group it can get pricey. But the birthday event was worth it. Would love to come back and try some other dishes or just get the same dish again.

Excellent Italian restaurant. The ambiance, service, and quality of food are top notch. BYOB makes it excellent to bring your favorite bottle. The chicken parm is a must!

This was AWESOME!!! Went here to get pizza and was told they did not have pizza so we order the Chicken Parmesan that came with a side of ziti and what a SURPRISE!! it came out looking like a Pizza...❤🥰
The New Parm Pizza🤣. This restaurant is also BYOB. The waiter we had was excellent with going over the menu and very attentive to our needs. This is white linen and fine dining at its best. If you're looking for something new and different you must try this!! I almost forgot the sauce was thick and the taste was EVERYTHING 😋❤

La Pergola is quite simply the most outstanding Italian restaurant I've ever visited. The first time I stumbled upon their outdoor garden, I mistakenly thought someone was having their wedding reception there. But no, it's just that beautiful.

Every dining experience we've had here is exquisite. I reserve this place for special occasions, or for when I'm trying to impress loved ones from out of town. You can't go wrong with the burrata or arugula salad apps. The mezzaluna ravioli special is delicious and perfectly-portioned. (Once, I asked if the ravioli was on that evening's menu. It wasn't, but the staff insisted on making it for me anyway.) And the chicken parmesan special is out of this world.

I recently ran into the owner while I was walking around downtown. He remembered me and said, "Come into the garden for some coffee and dessert! It will be my treat."

Tonight, my partner and I took his parents here for the first time. His father is a chef and has worked in a kitchen for most of his life. Here's his verdict on La Pergola.

Eggplant rollatini: "That's a masterpiece."

Arugula salad: "This dressing is perfect. It's flavorful but doesn't step on the greens. You can taste every single piece of this salad."

Lasagna bolognese: "Wow. That's elegant."

Gnocchi: "These are like real pillows. You can tell someone made these by hand. These are special."

"You definitely didn't oversell this place. If anything, you under-sold it. In terms of Italian food, this is one of the best I've ever had."

Millburn has some good Italian options, but La Pergola is by far the best. The service is excellent. Every app and entree we've had has been our favorite version of that item we've gotten anywhere (especially the burrata, arugula salad and eggplant parm special app), but La Pergola's chicken parm special is truly a standout. It's pounded extremely thin, the breading is light and crispy, the sauce is the best I've had anywhere, and the cheese on top is perfectly torched. The portion is so generous, they serve it on a wooden cutting board. The gorgeous presentation is complete with a sprig of rosemary. It's the best chicken parm in New Jersey, hands down. We come here for special occasions, like Valentine's Day and birthdays, and we have never been disappointed. The food, ambiance (you have to see their beautiful outdoor garden) and service can't be beat.

The service and food are fantastic!! All our dishes were amazing but hands down the Gnocchi with Short Rib won the day. The black fettechine with shrimp fradiavolo was also incredible. The indoor seating is very tight and moving in/ out from your table is a challenge.

Literally the best Italian meal I have had in several years. The customer service is incomparable, the food is exceptional and the environment is so relaxing. If you are in the area do yourself a favor and go! You won't be even the slightest bit disappointed.

Also it's BYOB but no worries there is a lovely wine store right down the street.

I was so thankful that they welcomed me at the last minute. The service was excellent; so many staff members roving to see if anyone needed anything. I had the caesar salad to start which was simple, fresh, and delicious. The lasagna bolognese was some of the best I have ever had, comparable to what I've had in Italy. The tiramisu was also really good. I'm so glad I came here after a matinee.

Beautiful outdoor seating and they were so accommodating to our dog! Quick service with very welcoming knowledgeable wait staff. The food was incredible, we got the chicken parm special and the spinach fettuccini with mushrooms and filet minion tips. Both delicious and unique.

Hands down one of the best Italian restraints this side of the Atlantic. Original Italian dishes made with fresh ingredients and excellent. There is both indoor and outdoor dining. Dining on the back lawn area is dreamy and romantic - it’s the white twinkle lights that create a hint of romance under the stars. I’ve been so many times I’ve tried everything on the menu and have never passed up a special…like their chicken parm! It’s absolutely delicious and there’s always leftovers. Great restaurant for groups, date night or a romantic dinner like Valentine’s Day. Not to be missed!

We visited La Pergola last night before our play at Papermill. It is probably our 20th visit over the years.
It remains our favorite Italian restaurant. We ate inside - enjoying the beautiful ambience. We arrived a little late and every effort was made to get our meal completed in time for the play.
Our food was delicious ( chicken parm and pork chop)and has remained that way over the years. The service was impeccable and friendly.
Highly recommended.

First of all, La Pergola been a go to restaurant in our town for my family. Second, my Dad had passed this passed Sunday. Anyone who has gone through a sudden passing of a loved one know your mind is going 1000 miles per hour. So I called La Pergola as I knew my Dad would want a celebration of life reception post is Funeral Mass service. Within two hours I had La Pergola booked and the owners set up the most wonderful reception for my dearly departed father and his entire family. The restaurant was perfectly located for us and the food was soooo good everybody raved. And my family has strong opinions. :) From the family style served appetizers and salads, to a very nice choice of entrees', right through dessert, EVERYTHING was perfect! A perfect afternoon which allowed us to grieve, laugh and love the memories of my Dad. Thank you La Pergola for hosting this most special event in such a short time. Go there for dinner, lunch, or call them for a special event. You will not go wrong!!

Delicious food, don’t forget to bring your own beverage. BYOB… it’s very romantic when you sit outside. Two of my favorite dish is the pear salad and spinach fettuccine with filet mignon in teeny tiny pieces.

This place was so wonderful. The courtyard was very romantic and followed social distancing guidelines. Service was wonderful, everyone including the hostess, waiters, and busboys were sweet. Didn’t wait long for food. The baby arugula salad and zucchini fritters were delicious. Very reasonable prices for this nice of a place.

Very nice atmosphere! Great service and food. The owner welcomes his guests like family.
