Covid19 really took a hit on the prices of ammo and firearms in NY - not in a good way either. Prices were gauge to the point of doubling of prices. During March prices for firearms was crazy. It's May now and Long Island Ammo still managed to be fair. I been always a believer on practicing your rights and due to the frenzy of panic and rise in crime in my area. I decided it was time to purchase a HD (home defense) shotgun. Again, I called/visited many local gun shops and a lot of them do not show you the time of day unless you are ready to buy. I got frustrated to the point on shopping online due to these elitist attitude towards new clients. I know the social distancing rules applies and they want to sell items quickly but at least show a new gun owner some time. I finally found a friendly and nice shop in the town of Huntington NY. Even with the inflation of prices these guys still manage to keep the prices fair and close to a lot of internet prices. They are stocked on AMMO from 9mm to .410 ga shotgun 000 bucks. They got shotguns, rifles a lot of hunting items you will probably need if you are going to hunt for wabbits.
Meet Alan - a very professional, honest (painfully), and very knowledgeable owner who wants people to know the responsibility and safety behind gun ownership. I came in there yesterday and door was closed. Alan walks in and just welcoming from the start. I was in and out of the store in 20 minutes with the confidence I did the right thing with my purchase.
The shop itself is behind a hardware store. So you have to ask if you are not sure. The parking lot is huge. Restrooms are clean and fully stocked - just don't steal the tissue paper as per Alan hahahaha. Again I invite all my elite members who are looking for a reliable shop to get their firearms and ammo from. I truly appreciate the time Alan gave me.
Call them if you have questions and come on by and pick up your gun needs. Maybe pick up some nails, hornet spray or whatever hardware items you need. And they also have a brewery! This store is ready for the zombie apocalypse.

Great knowledge and service overall. They're always willing to help me out and solve a home brewing problem. I now have two all-grain brews under my belt that turned out great thanks to their advice - and I have ten more planned for the coming year. The hardware store staff is also very helpful with advice and supplying the right tools for whatever job I have at hand. +1 on the music in the store. Highly recommended.

Courteous and helpful staff. Fair prices. They treat their customers with respect and integrity. I’ve never had a bad customer experience with Karps.

found that customer service was excellent. picked up plumbing supplies, bought a gun at a great price and picked up ammunition at a great price. I found josh very helpful and patient. would recommend anyone to this store for hardware, guns, ammo and ect.

This is a great establishment! They have everything I need! The staff has always gone above and beyond to be extremely friendly and informative.

The 1 star reviews are laughable. I would completely ignore them. "I showed up when they closed" "the guy called me out for returning gear, I had no idea what he was talking about... oh wait now I remember".

Unfortunately we live in an outrage culture where a weird or average experience means slandering a locally owned small business? People are 5x as likely to complain online than they are to give a good review when they have a good experience.

Karps and LIAmmo have always taken the time to answer all of my questions, and have never been rude! This is a gem of East Northport and they have earned a customer for life.

We have been going to Karps for over 40 years. They always have the most obscure parts that we need, unlike the big box stores/ The staff is knowledgeable & efficient. We love it!

This is the real deal. A full blown old fashioned hardware store. Creaky wood floors and all. Incredible amount of stock! I'd been to four places including Home Depot with a problem nobody was able to solve. Walked into Karp (the first time I'd ever been there) and in about 5 minutes - problem solved!

Love Karps. I have been going to Karps since I was 7 years old, 1956. My dad had a shoe store down the street and he used to send me there to pick up screws and hardware for his machines. No hardware store can even come close to the courteous and friendly service you get at Karps.

Customer service is incredible, within ten seconds of walking into the store someone is helping you. Prices are good, and they have pretty much everything you could need. If you haven't been inside definitely check it out, you won't leave disappointed.

I have been coming to this shop over the past few years and the experience has been a complete 180 for the better since the ownership changed hands to the DeFeo family.

Best homebrew store on Long Island. Alan is very knowledgeable and helped me for about an hour and a half. I had a keggle system that needed finishing because I bought it half finished. Alan was able to think outside the box after he looked at our three keggles and was able to come up with a solution. Anyone that is starting out or is an experienced brewer should go to Karp's because of the attention to detail they provide. They might be busy but they will take care of you and get you exactly what you need. Their prices are reasonable and I will gladly pay the extra couple bucks to buy in store as opposed to online for the sole reason of their customer service and experience in the hobby

Great neighborhood hardware store - if they don't have it, they'll get it. I've bought screws, nut, and washers by the piece for like 6-9 cents each - that's something you won't find at ACE ! Good background music. too.

The hardware store always has what you need. If you have some obscure item you are looking for, they will probably have it. The firearms section is great and the people are helpful.

I've done some transfers here and it's a great place to do business. Great people, never had any issues and they have a pretty decent selection of Milsurps if you're into that.

Charming old-school hardware shop. Customer service is very good. Place has a lot of what you need.

Great store with knowledgable staff. Best place around for hard to find hardware..metric,fine thread,grade 8,stainless, galvanized etc.

Karp's is my go to store for hardware and ammo supplies. They are very knowledgeable and friendly.

Great selection of Hardware, Firearms and home brew. Why shop the Big Box stores when you have Karps right here.
