UC Medical Center

I've been having to come here for almost a year now for multiple procedures and have gotten so many different nurses and Dr's but they have always been really kind and compassionate and helpful. I don't have a voice, just a whisper, but they manage to try and listen as best as they can to help get what I need. Granted I'm a low maintenance patient, so that probably makes me easier to work with, but the times I've been a little more dependent, they have been awesome. Like all hospitals these days, they may be stretched thin, but they make up for it in kindness, professionalism, and hard work. Idon't ever feel like I'm a nuisance asking for something. I'm currently in the ICU and all the staff are just amazing. Thank you for caring about your patients. :)

This Hospital is absolutely amazing. I was hospitalized on the trauma unit and everyone on that unit is an earth angel. I received the most caring, compassionate, and prudent medical care. The entire staff and system is awesome. They made an extremely scary, painful, and difficult time a positive, healing, and stable time for me. I am thoroughly impressed with the process and professionalism of everyone involved in my care. I am also impressed with the trauma team follow up medical professionals at Piedmont Ave 7th floor. Everyone including the counselors go way above and beyond. I have never received better care and I will forever be bragging about UC hospital staff to everyone I know. Cincinnati UC hospital did Amazing spinal back surgery some years ago.
The care was awesome. Praise the Lord Jesus Christ.Their Chaplin ministry is excellent.

My husband has a massive heart attack and went into cardiac arrest ,he was transferred to this hospital from Mercy. , I can honestly say this hospital and staff are the most compassionate , knowledgeable, caring nurses and Drs. I recommend this hospital highly.

The NICU is AMAZING. I was there every day all day for a week because my baby brody boy had to stay for that long... while I was there I witnessed not nurses, but ANGELS taking care of these babies. They each cared for them like their own babies. So gentle and warm.... and when they weren't caring for them or charting they would just sit and hold the babies 😭 makes me want to cry because it's so special to know that there are places like this out there that look after your babies in such vulnerable states. The residents and doctors were phenomenal at communicating which if you have had a baby in the NICU you know how important that is .... they made my heart a little more at ease in easily the hardest time of my life as a mother. They took care and healed my baby and for that, I will be forever grateful.

Truly a wonder set of staff members that will diligently work to figure out what is wrong with you and get you on track to healing. I credit this place for saving my life and have since switched ALL of my providers to UC Health. So fortunate to have a top leading medical center in our city.

"Extraordinary Care at the University of Cincinnati Hospital"

I recently had the opportunity to experience the professionalism and kindness of the staff at the University of Cincinnati Hospital following an unfortunate ankle break. While this was certainly an experience I would have preferred to avoid, I cannot overstate the dedication and warmth that the hospital team showed throughout my time in their care.

Firstly, I want to extend my sincerest gratitude to Shawna Erter, my primary nurse, while I was housed in room 9031, who became my cornerstone during my stay. Shawna exemplified what it means to be a nurse, going above and beyond in providing not just medical care but also emotional support during a stressful time. Her competence in managing my pain and assuring my overall comfort was accompanied by a spirit of genuine care and kindness that helped ease my worries. Her patient-centric approach was remarkable and much appreciated.

The ER team, who was my first point of contact, deserves a special note of thanks as well. Their prompt action and clear communication made a world of difference during those initial frightening moments. It is a testament to their skill and professionalism that I was able to be admitted quickly and without complication.

And of course, I can't forget the sweet lady, I believe her name was Herschel from the A6 circle. Herschel, with her cheerful demeanor and the candy she offered, lightened up the atmosphere and provided a welcome distraction from my discomfort. Her gesture, while small, left a huge impact, serving as a comforting reminder that empathy and kindness are at the heart of patient care.

I would be remiss if I didn't also mention the transport team. While I believe they could use a few extra hands to better manage the patient flow, they were always efficient and courteous, even under clear pressure.

In closing, my experience at the University of Cincinnati Hospital was defined by an impressive blend of professional competence and genuine care. A heartfelt thank you to Shawna, Herschel, the ER team, and every single member of the hospital staff that assisted me during this challenging time. Your dedication to patients is deeply appreciated and truly makes a difference.

I cannot begin to adequately explain the level of treatment, care, and service that I have been shown @ UCMC starting with the moment that I checked in last Thursday at 5:15 am. From the check in desk itself, to Kristen @ surgery prep, to the team of doctors and nurses who calmed me and gave me a full understanding of the procedure before entering the OR; continuing with Tyler in recovery and then on to all of the nurses who cared for me all week. Wow. Incredible. Almost unbelievable. It is clear that there is a culture here that cannot be surpassed in my opinion. I cannot thank all of you enough for the tender, professional, compassionate and beyond reproach care that you have shown me and my wife. We are so blessed for you. Dr. Valerie Sams is the finest Dr. and Surgeon I have ever dealt with in my life. Her skill level is beyond impressive. I was turned away by 8 different surgeons before she stepped up to take this very complicated case on. The surgery was a total success. I am forever in your debt to the Doctors, nurses and staff at UCMC.

Great hospital and very professional in all of their fields. Explain everything in full details and this is very important especially when you don't understand the much from dealing with the fear of losing a special person in your life. And they definitely make sure every question is answered then and while they are doing the surgeries to save life's. I have had nothing but great Surgeon, Nurse's, Social Worker's and the rest of the VERY caring Staff Members. I would love to thank each and every one of the Angels that Did the emergency SURGERIES ON MY FIANCE ON SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2021. HE HAD A TERRIBLE MOTORCYCLE WRECK IN ADAMS COUNTY OHIO AND HAD TO BE AIR LIFTED BECAUSE OF ALL OF THE HEAD INJURIES AND OTHER SURGERIES HE HAD A TERRIBLE TBI TO THE POINT THAT HE WAS IN A COMMA FOR OVER A MONTH AND EVEN THOUGH HE WOKE UP HE STILL WAS NOT THE MAN THAT LEFT MY HOUSE AND NOT EVEN 2 MILES FROM MY HOUSE HE WRECKED HIS MOTORCYCLE AND NO HE DID NOT HAVE A HEMMIT AND IT WAS SITTING RIGHT ON THE PORCH HE FROM TO GET ON HIS MOTORCYCLE. WELL I WILL HAVE TO SAY UC HOSPITAL DID EVERYTHING TO SAVE HIS LIFE BUT NEEDLESS TO SAY 11 MONTHS LATER HE PASSED AWAY FROM A HEART ATTACK AND INFECTIONS IN HIS BRAIN AND HIS ENTIRE BODY. GOD TOOK A VERY SPECIAL PERSON FOR HIS REASON THAT WE ALL WILL KNOW WHEN THE LORD IS WAITING FOR US. THANK YOU UC STAFF FOR ALL OF YOUR PRECIOUS WORK EACH OF YOU DID FOR SHAWN JEREMY CUPP TO SURVIVE THE TERRIBLE TBI AND MULTIPLE OF OTHER INJURIES EACH OF YOU ACHIEVED THIS TERRIBLE SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2021 AROUND 8 PM. I APPRECIATE THE TIME I GOT TO SPEND WITH JEREMY AFTER ALL OF UR ACCOUMENTS WITH OUT EACH OF YOU THIS NIGHT JEREMY'S LIFE WOULD HAVE ENDED ON SEPT 1 BUT WITH ALL THE TIME AND EFFORT AND LOVE EACH OF YOU DID TO SAVE THIS WONDERFUL MAN FOR ANOTHER 11 MONTHS MEANT AND MEANS SO MUCH TO ME. I TRULY GOT TO FEEL ALL OF THE LOVE THIS MAN HAD FOR ME. IT MAKES ME FEEL SO SPECIAL TO BE IN HIS LIFE AND HE REALLY SHOWED IT COMPLETELY. I FELT LIKE I WAS COMPLETE WITH THIS MAN AND I ABSOLUTELY LOVE HIM FOR LETTING FEEL LOVE LIKE IT IS TRULY GOT TO FEEL. I WILL NEVER FORGET THE EXCITEMENT HE HAD WHEN I WOULD WALK INTO HIS ROOM I FELT COMPLETE LOVE. GOD KNOWS I MISS YOU MR. CUPP BUT I WILL BE WITH YOU ON THE OTHER SIDE. My grandfather is currently in UC. He was a transfer patient. He is in the 2600s and I try to ring his phone and he won’t answer. So I try to ring the nurses station, and they won’t answer either. For 3 days I have been trying to get ahold of someone but the only person I can get ahold of is the supervisor in the tower. It’s really irritating and really worrying considering I have to talk to him about important stuff.

Edit: After making this review, the nurses got me and my gpa set up so he could reach the phone and they helped him call me as well. Unfortunately my grandfather passed away. In this troubling time, the UC staff guided me to make the right decisions for my grandfather to make him feel more comfortable and as well as he could be. They got him to Dayton Hospice, and followed up with me. Even sent me a card if I’m remembering correctly (my grandpa went to a lot of different surgeries and each team and the hospice team all sent cards to us. Wishing him to get well soon or condolences. I cannot thank UC enough.

UC was extremely clean. As it was my first time there, I didn't know where my appt destination was. Then, a doctor came to me to help. He took the time to walk me to my appt destination. Big shout out to the doctor.

The nurses & Doctors in CVICU were phenomenal! The professional medical care, thoughtful & considerate care they gave our son for days on end was very impressive. Their concern for us was over the top. The staff made themselves available to all our questions, and there were many. They worked tirelessly around the clock to give our son the upmost care. It was amazing & so helpful as we were thrust into a world we knew nothing about. They were heaven sent. UC is a very cohesive staff from West Chester to CVICU to Drake to the “step down” floor. Unfortunately we have experienced all four. Thank you!

This hospital saved my dad after falling off of a roof. He had a bad brain bleed and had to have half of his skull removed for 6 months to take pressure off of his brain. His recovery time was quick. The only thing that he’s left with is one hearing aid and some hard days but UC saved my dad. UC also saved my mom when her back caught on fire and every other hospital denied her and sent her here. UC deserves 5 stars.

I had scans, surgery, and a stay at this hospital. I had a great experience as far as my stay goes. All of the staff were pleasant, the room was clean, and the food was even good. I would definitely recommend UC to others.

THIS AMAZING HOSPITAL AND STAFF...SAVED MY LIFE. BACK IN 2017..AWESOME, AMAZING DOCTORS AND STAFF!!! You that had a bad experience...well I can't hardly believe it. I was on deaths door...3 weeks at Bethesda North is what about killed me. My son was smart enough to have me transferred to UC Cincinnati...in 2 days I was awake from my coma and could go home.
So if you want the best care for what ails you go there!!! THANK YOU, HAVE A WONDERFUL DAY!!!✌

There are a few people that need recognition today and that is Sara, Emily, and both of their pca's Q, and I'm sorry I didn't catch the name of the other pca, it was the night shift. My family was brought in after a motorcycle accident and the people on the 5th floor and trauma, and plastics, and pt/ot and many others were beyond amazing! I can't thank these amazing hospital staff, from the housekeeping to transport to food people and all around for truly saving my family's lives!! Wouldn't go anywhere else for trauma!!

Nurse Teresa Derden made my stay run so smoothly! UC Hospital is very lucky to have her as one of their RN's for Labor and delivery. She is so kind, attentive, and personable. She made me being comfortable one of her top priorities, she was very gentle with my baby, and really, you can just tell when somebody cares about you or not. She truly is doing an amazing job ! Their isnt a bone in my body that is ignorant to the fact that she genuinley cares about her patients. If their is anything that she can do to help, or prevent something negative such as pain, and or swelling she is on top of it.
Teresa made my stay very special and memorable. The hospital as a whole is very thorough, and knowledgeable. Rarely , do you find all these qualities in one hospital. It truly has been a wonderful experience to bring my child into the world here at UC Hospital.

Brought our son from Indiana to be evaluated by experts... Experts is what we encountered here at UC Medical. I personally want to thank the Neurology team. Our son was in great hands with you all!! The nurses on the fourth floor were outstanding. We were overwhelmed with all the support from this hospital! Thank you all so much!!!! Miller family! Go Blue lol!!!!
