Ella Mae’s Soulfood

We came close to closing time, but they had everything we ordered except for collard greens. That was fine because everything was delicious. The ancestors would be pleased. We ordered the meatloaf, mac-n-cheese, and cabbage. Nothing was a disappointment. The mac-n-cheese was heavily seasoned, but you wouldn't know it by looking at it. The seasoning was good, tho. This is not a complaint. The meatloaf was so big it can easily feed 2.5 people. I gained 3 pounds just reading the menu.

First time here and the owner was friendly,personable, and nice. The place has a relax warm feel and very clean which is important. I had Catfish,Mac and cheese and greens. All was good and mac cheese superb so cheesy the way I like it. Support this black business she is on top of things.

1st time ordering using door dash. My catfish dinner with sweet potatoe and Mac and cheese was delicious and very filling. I will definitely order again. Thank you for my loving lunch today.

This food was hands down the best soul food I’ve ever had. Generous portions.

Everything was absolutely delicious.. I wanted to save some for later but I couldn’t because I couldn’t stop eating it.

Now this is what I’m talking about, Real Soulfood, the best restaurant in Ohio, “I said it”, Ohio….! Best food ever, Best service, Food so good, it will make you smack yo grandma…. For now on, “She Auntie Ella Mae” Me and my wife agreement was every two weeks, ain’t no more Sunday dinners in our house, “We at Auntie Ella Mae’s”….🫡

I love ella maes with all my heart! I’ve became a regular lol the pot roast is my absolute favorite and I will get it every time!❤ I always recommend Ella’s maes to anybody who ask.

Someone brought me a 3 wing dinner with greens & mac and cheese…. I think they must have Grandma working in the kitchen! This was the BEST I HAVE HAD IN CLEVELAND that wasn’t cooked by my momma!!!!

Ella Mae's Soulfood is a welcome addition to University Heights. A clean, modern, eatery with warm, friendly staff, and tasty homestyle cuisine.

I highly recommend the turkey chops which are breaded, juicy, and spectacular. The rice and gravy is warm, soft, and hearty. And the greens are just perfect.

I am excited to return and try the beef dishes!

This place is a hidden gem! Best soul food in the city, and they forgot one of my dressings but I don’t even care cause the food was amazing! Hands down waaaay better than any I could ever imagine! Please go you won’t be disappointed

The food was cooked fresh like I like it. The service was great and I was able to order, pay over the phone and when I arrived, it was ready for pick up with no weight.

Service was excellent. Potroast yams macaroni greens cornbread bowl was absolutely fire!!! Will definitely go back and get the exact same thing again. Big proportions of everything.

Praise the Lord, my mom is like Gordon Ramsay and has something to say about EVERYTHING but she has not said A WORD since she recieved her meal from Ella Mae's. Thank you🥰🥰

This place slams, and you can’t tell me otherwise. I had the fried turkey, baked beans, and collard greens. My wife had fried catfish, mac and cheese, and green beans. Everything we had was perfectly seasoned, even the cornbread was classic. Called in the order, it was made exactly at the time they said it would be, and neither of us even finished our food because of the portion size, and it was still great the next day.

Dang I’m glad I live almost within walking distance of this place, I think I’ll be needing to walk off several meals from here in the future.

EDIT: They stop taking phone orders at 730 pm, and you have to pull up in person to place an order. House rule for their own safety.

Today was my first time trying it. It was so good taste like somebody grandma in the kitchen. The chicken was a little salty but it wasn’t bad at all. Great customer service also. I’ll definitely be back currently my favorite soul food spot in the city.

1st time here.. Was recommended this place by a coworker. When I got there I was recommended the beef roast and got greens and Mac n cheese for my sides. Omg them greens were the best I've had in a very long time. The beef was so juicy n melts in ur mouth. Definitely going back for other meals.

Overall great typical soul food. The greens were awesome and Mac and cheese was amazing. The fish was a tad bit salty, and the dressing was extremely salty that I could eat too much of it. I got my corn muffin which was awesome but my husband didn’t get one with his meal. We waited over 30 minutes.
