New River Junction

We camped at New River Junction campground last weekend! Absolutely beautiful location right on the New River. Jake, the owner was great. Very helpful and friendly, plus he is a very hard worker. We will definitely return and will hope to have friends join us next time ! Great place to camp for a Va Tech home game or just for a fun weekend tubing down the river.

Went earlier today with my girlfriend and we had a blast. The staff were very friendly and it was an easy check in process. It wasn't busy at all. We were the only ones in the river for a while, so we loved that lol and the rapids at the end were very fun. Would definitely recommend if you're in the area.

What a gorgeous campground and the owners Jake and Mom, Bernadette were so pleasant! It was simply paradise. We fished and rode our bikes along the river and watched a million stars. Thank you so much!!

If you want a safe river adventure for all ages, come to this spot. It's shallow and gentle, with some rapids if you feel courageous, or stay close to the shore. The river is clean and you can see through to the bottom. Water shoes are recommended. The campground is beautiful with the view of two mountains with its yoni center.

Beautiful place to go fishing, RV camping or just camping. Lots of open spot to spend a couple days away from the city. You can also go tubing here with a group of friends. The breeze was very nice while eating at the picnic table. You can also BBQ which was great! The path to exit I will say it is narrow so please be careful driving through here.

All in all I would recommend this to anyone

Beautiful river with an amazing view. Shoes are heavily recommended because the bottom of the river is very shallow and rocky.

This was a great spot! My wife 5 year old daughter and I could not have been any happier with the view, the tubing, the fishing, the everything! Look... camping is not usually "perfect" not all campgrounds are created equal. Sure this place did not have the "newest" facilities. But what it was lacking it made up for in beautiful views an awesome tubing experience and super friendly staff!

I have seen a few complaints about the trains and I mean what do you say? Trains are loud. They let you know in the website that you will hear them. Of course they woke me up , but then I went right back to sleep. But on a more positive note: One of the friendly staff told us to stand near the road where the train operator could see us and my daughter got him to honk the horn which of course she LOVED!

The tubing was fantastic! My family loved it. if your a camper you can launch your tubes from your campsite for a slightly extended ride.

The first morning at our campsite I caught a whopper of a smallmouth! check out the pictures. The fishing was not so great the rest of the trip but that first one was awesome!

This campground gets a 5 out of 5 from my family and I because of the awesome scenery, fun water activities and friendly staff. I'm not gonna knock of stars because of old bathroom fixtures.... your camping get over yourself ! If you have running water, electric hookups and a bathroom w/showers then you've got it made!

This was my 4th time there. I plan to go back every chance I get!!! My favorite place to be!

Easy to find and a great time - if you're on a date or with your family! We rode tubes down the river last weekend and had a blast. Gorgeous scenery, friendly team members and you can rent tubes to float the river in. Next time I'll probably take my own tube (they'll blow them up for you and it's a little cheaper to do it that way).

Great price and I really liked that we could take our own tubes and they still bring you back up. Great value.

Been happily tubing here for years and years. Have utilized their camping only once, but had wonderful experience. I must say, over the years, it was always frustrating to go to their Facebook page and see that their updates were soooo far behind, sometimes weeks behind. They finally have someone responsibly and continuously updating...as well as even commenting and pisting pics on their FB page, which makes a huge difference. If you've nit been tubing at New River Junction, I highly recommend it and promise you wont be disappointed.

Great camping, fishing, and boating. The railroad runs nearby and it’s fun to see the trains roll by. But not in the middle of the night—the trains are pretty loud. Small price to pay for this otherwise perfect campground.

Leisurely river float! We went when it was yellow status this Sat, May 21st. Water was a little cold but felt nice with the sun out. They post updates on facebook about river and opening status, so check before you go. About a 20-25 min drive from VT (out Price's Fork, right on McCoy, right at the end of that, and it is down on the left hand side a little ways.) They have a grassy parking area ($2 parking), bathrooms where you can change, and picnic tables at the start and end of the tubing run. People brought coolers for lunch between floats that they kept in their cars nearby. You can bring drinks, including alcohol when you tube - it just can't be glass. The river can be low in spots, which means you can sometimes get a little bit of a workout getting unstuck or relocating to a better flowing area, but it is a nice way to spend an hour or more, floating downstream and enjoying the clouds, the views, and the occasional Norfolk Southern train or curious dragonfly. Take water shoes, because there are rocks. Also, swimsuits may get mucky, but can always be rinsed/washed (so don't wear your finest). You can go over the rapids and walk back and do them again if you want. We skipped, but people seemed to have a blast doing that. Good day out!

Amazing place, the river was awesome and the staff were great!! Having their wifi saved us loads of trouble.
Their bathrooms were rustic, but kept very clean.
I've gone camping loads of times and this is the first place I've had no complaints about.
