You cannot drive up to MT Evans past labor day! You can only make a reservation for the Lake itself. You can climb the ridge and we tried but had to do too many scrambles so we came back down. The views were gorgeous though looking out.

I do encourage people to climb the MT Evans trail at least until you get to the mail box up there or whatever it was. You pass these two like windows into the valley that are pretty. I'm not sure how to call them. I have a photo of what I mean attached.

It is really pretty up here and there are mountain creatures all over the place! So keep an eye out for them.

Heads upr reservations are $12 dollars. I do wish the trail to mount Evens was better marked that is the only thing I would wish for this place.

A glacier fed lake right below the summit of Mt. Evans, very beautiful and scenic. There is lots of wildlife to watch and wildflowers to enjoy. Not to mention the fickle mountain weather and cold winds, so be prepared accordingly.

Awesome place, loved it.. it started snowing when I reached the parking lot.. this is one of the best and must visit..there is an entrance fee and reservation is needed..there is no to less cell phone coverage so recommendation is to book in advance.. it's also on higher altitude so come prepared with layers of clothes..roads are narrow and on a foggy or Snow or rainy day viability is very less..

Summit Lake Park is absolutely stunning. You can go as far as you want and no matter the distance will be met with gorgeous views.

The drive to Summit Lake Park can be windy and have quite the turns. Take your time and just enjoy the views. If there are turn-offs I recommend using them to take a moment to snap beautiful photos.

This place is dog friendly but please be respectful of the wildlife. This is their home and we are just visitors.

Went off-season for the first time. Top of Blue Sky was closed - stop of here. 60 mph winds! It was crazy! Beautiful area though - will have to come back someday during regular season

Stunning views. We hiked the ridge to the right of the lake and the views down into the valley nearly blew me away. Air does get a bit thin up there so hiking in general was harder.

Gorgeous!! Decently clean bathrooms as well. To my understanding this area technically needed a separate day pass, but it was worth it to be able to go walk towards the overlook and spend some time at the lake. Be aware of changing weather, especially if your permit time is for the afternoon. Enjoy!

A fabulous place to take sunset and Milky Way photos... plenty of parking... the road gets very rough the last 1/4 mile to the lake so be careful

Amazing lake. I did the mount Evans trail from there and it was something else! Awesome views, the whole loop is about 7.5 miles.

I got luck and there was extra passes to allow me to enter the park. Amazing views once you get there.

Parking lot that holds maybe 50 or more cars with some road side parking available.

There are 2 bathroom huts here so you won't have to wait long to use it if at all.

There were some wild goats in the lot when we pulled up. If it's full there is a second lot about half a mile up the road as a backup.

We saw mountain goats for the very first time in Colorado at Summit lake.. In peak summer season you would need time entry pass to reach Mount Evans.. At Summit Lake you could hike to the top to see beautiful landscapes all around.. if you are a photographer and need great landscape to capture, this is the place for you..in June we could still see some snow..you could also see yellow bellied mormot on the roads.. drive very carefully as roads are not clearly marked and there are multiple black blind spots without railings at the valley end.. don't forget your coat and hats as temperature drops drastically..

What a beautiful place. If you’re in the area, this is definitely a must. You do have to have a timed entry

Such a beautiful place to take pictures and so many flowers. The hike to the lake is very short but if you aren't used to the altitude, bring water and go slow. A few of us got lightheaded but we had only arrived to Colorado

The drive to mount evans road can get very tricky during early summer. I planned to take the drive during mid June hoping that the road is clear but unfortunately the summit was closed and had to stop in the summit lake park. The park has good trails and even saw a mountain goat grazing. Overally highly recommend stopping here on your next trip to mount evans summit

This was great experience going on the trail to Mt. Evans. We could go up to the first mountain on the way and then returned back. The overall view from the top is awesome. The lake looks so beautiful.

It was amazing, yet terrifying drive. It's a 14er so if you haven't been that high up, take it easy. I probably needed some canned oxygen since I got a bit of altitude sickness up there but they are right, drink lots of water and take it easy.

I went mid June and roads were clear, snow melting so watch out for standing water. Animals are out eating so drive slowly. Summit Lake is beautiful.

There is a path that is packed gravel so those in scooters and maybe electric wheelchairs would be okay on dry days. Manual wheelchairs might find the path too hard, but each person needs to make that determination. I was in a heavy duty scooter and got most of the way down the path until it got a bit too steep for my comfort. There are wheelchair accessible restrooms although there is a good sized concrete hump to get to the door so you might need help even in a scooter.

Again, no regrets. Must see.

The trip up here is amazing and the lake doesn't disappoint. Be ready... O2 levels are pretty low. If you are out of shape (like me) walk slow and take deep breaths.

I visit here as often as I can. Beautiful place to see and relax with beautiful views. Today especially we enjoy it since we got to see mountain goats close and personal. They actually came up to the car. We are even walking with them next to us! 😄Enjoy!
