Big Ray's

Going to Big Ray’s was THE BEST decision. My group landed in Fairbanks with most of our layers, but two of us were missing snow pants that didn’t arrive in time. We walked in expecting a standard outdoors store, but were lucky enough to be greeted by Eli.

Eli talked us through everything — pros and cons of snow bib vs. snow pants, the ins and outs of different brands, and what to expect at Fairbanks. We talked about what we brought with us to get a second opinion, and he was super helpful and honest. He even showed us the best way to put on toe warmers and hunted in the back for a missing size! Really went above and beyond for us.

Every night we’d go aurora chasing, the happy customers in our group would comment something like: “Dude these pants are life changing. I can’t believe I feel pretty good in -10F weather. Shout out to our guy Eli!” It became a running joke, but in all seriousness — thanks Eli! Will be returning to Big Ray’s for our next Alaska trip.

Went to Big Ray’s to do an exchange today. They were out of couple items I needed for family since Christmas. I was able to find all the items I needed. The associates are so nice knowledgeable and friendly. The man helped find all the items, carried them to the front of check out. I had hand surgery a week ago, so it was nice that he helped me. Big Ray’s had more sizes and selection for men, which is nice. Not all great men are small. Their selection for women and children is great too!

They help me alotttt when I first move to Alaska in 1990s see I came from LA this would be my first winter anywhere so they ask me how warm you want be help me to pick up my snow gear I don't know the owner know the person that help me was a woman I have give huge shoutout

Great store that is much larger than it looks, prices are on par but the staff makes this the place to go for your outdoor wear needs.

Stopped by today to purchase my fishing license 20 minutes before they closed. The help was great, as always! Love coming here and chatting g with the guys upstairs. Really friendly guys and very knowledgeable. Keep up the great work!

I stopped in to grab some much needed chest waders and met Mike and Max. Both of these guys fish and have plenty of field experience to talk about gear and fishing equipment. I’m very happy with the experience and gear I purchased. It’s nice to have an outfitter with staff who uses the stuff they sell.

The downtown location has alot more to offer than the airport location. I really like the fly fishing gear selection. They always recommend the flies that get ne fish. Thanks

The best place in Fairbanks for not only winter gear but the best stuff for every season. It's heaven for big guys looking for comfortable fits as well.

The best kid’s Baffin selection is amazing. I like that they are out on display to help with those picky kids. You don’t have to ask for 7 pairs to be brought out in the box and try out. Makes it quick and much easier for kids.

They also have Reima snowsuits which are high quality and a very reasonable price at $135.

The work wear selection is great for men or women. They have a solid selection of True Grit and Carhartt.

Custom embroidery, hunting/fishing gear (reels, ammo, firearms), great selection of cold weather apparel for the entire family and decent prices. Staff was welcoming, friendly and helpful. Parking can be an issue during the busier times.

I shop here randomly for things I need but what's really great is I go here during their yearly winter gear sale and outfit my daughter for the entire winter and it does the job well and lasts all season. She never gets cold in the winter with their gear, and that is what matters.

Big Ray's has everything you need to have for your time in Alaska. Everything! The staff takes their time to help you find what you need. I was shopping for a good pair of winter boots. They young lady working in that department was knowledgeable and very patient and helpful. Any time I go in, I have the same high quality experience.

Went in looking for boots. Spent about an hour trying on several different pairs. The whole time the guy working there was patient and didn't say anything when I kept asking to try a different size. Defintely going back to find a good coat.

There are tons of great brands to choose from for keeping warm in the snow.

The employees in the fishing department are pretty knowledgeable and are happy to share it with you. Caught a bunch of fish thanks to their lure recommendations.
If you wait for a sale the prices are pretty close to what you can find on Facebook marketplace, but new.

Always find what I need. Competitive prices. Staff always available to help. They transferred 3 items from their Anchorage stores in a timely fashion to meet my size needs. Thank you
