The Children's Farm Home is home to some of the most caring, compassionate, and passionate caregivers I've ever had the pleasure to work with. When a child or teen needs support they answer the call and give it their all to keep them safe, develop critical skills, and optimize their medications so they can thrive. Residential mental health services will always be a hard environment for patients and providers alike but you can rest easy knowing that the people who work at the Children's Farm Home truly care and do their best every single day. They have incredible doctors, nurses, therapists, and staff and you won't find a team more dedicated to helping children anywhere.

My experience at the Children’s Farm Home was not only impressive, but inspiring. Their multidisciplinary team strives to create solutions for all aspects of their patient’s lives, and goes above and beyond other facilities I’ve seen to provide thoughtful and compassionate care. The providers there deliver not only medication management, but also address the underlying issues and layers of trauma these children have faced through a variety of therapeutic modalities. And the countryside setting allows children to experience parts of life they may not otherwise be able to, offering unique opportunities such as equine therapy, gardening, and other outdoor activities to provide a means for self-exploration and esteem development.

My daughter was at the Children's Farm Home for almost a year. It has changed her life and I finally see hope for her and her future. Her therapist and Dr. were so helpful and we finally got the help and support that she needed. It was a very hard experience for us both and I hated seeing her there but without their help she would not be doing as good as she is doing today. During her stay there I never felt like she was not safe or uncared for by her care team and I feel that most the staff really care about and want to help the kids. Her therapist went above and beyond to help her and our family!

I've been here once back in August for a total of three weeks.
It was actually very nice but I am needing to return/go to another inpatient facility.
Has this place actually changed for the better?

Edited(7/16/18):
Staying at Mallett until I was 18 was one of the best experiences for me in my life regarding mental health. The staff are very caring and understanding and help you through things if you wish to.
My therapists(one for residential, one for day treatment) were also very good at their job, and I aspire to be like them one day.
Thank you Trillium for helping me as much as you could in the 3 months before I turned 18, I will never forget what the staff(and the clients) did for me.
You have changed my outlook on Mental Health and the way I see things now.
Thank you for teaching me that in order for me to get help, I had to WANT to.

As a former employee of the Children's Farm home, I can honestly say that this place is special. The training we received prior to our first shift was intense, yet it prepared me very well for the the job.The comradery I enjoyed with my fellow co-workers was also nothing short of exceptional. Lastly, all the interactions I saw and experienced with clients were caring, purposeful, and trauma informed. I left the farm home to pursue other academic interests but my time there left me with a positive impression of Trillium Family Services and the important work that they do.

Edit: my son did end up going there and I really think it saved his life, the staff was great and the program works! I wish I had revised my review a long time ago. He was 16 and now is a few months away from being 21😊 I hope the program is still as great and I hope it helps others like it helped my son.

Great my son is being sent here next week, I'm scared to death now with all the bad reviews, please tell me it's changed since some of these bad reviews😭

So I went there when I was 14. At the time I didnt appreciate it as much as I should have. I wasnt doing so great in that point in my life and had gotten into a lot if trouble. I will admit my first time there I didnt take it to heart. But the second time I was there I really appreciated it. I know by law I had to be there. It wasnt my choice but that's how it is when you're underaged. All the staff there were super nice and tried to make it as comfortable as possible. As long as you comply they would support you in what you needed to do. I loved it there of course I wanted to go home but it was very stress relieving. I cant remember what cottage I was in but I know it was one of the less restrictive ones. I cant express how helpful it was to have a therapist, pyschiatrist and helpful staff whenever I needed. Yes doors are locked but that's to ensure we didnt self harm, purge our food, or do anything to hurt ourselves or others. I think it was for the best and they were all super kind to me. Most kids there didnt want to be there and didnt comply most the time which made their treatment process harder. The more you refuse the help the harder it is to be okay with where you're at. But from my experience all the staff were amazing. And I wish I could talk to them again being in a better state in my life. EDIT: Cottage was mallet.

So blessed CFH exists. It was not at all a comfortable experience. Some of the most difficult traumas and emotions we're faced here. However, the compassion and care received from CFH is unparalleled. I can't say it was easy being apart for so long, but serious changes had to happen, and did.
My baby got her life back.
I can't thank you enough.

Honestly working here can be super fun you get to hang out with the kids and help them develop good communication and coping skills that they can use for their entire life. It’s amazing being able to see all their progress in real time!!

I am giving Farm Home 5 stars because while I was there for around 14 months I learned a lot about myself. I made great connections with staff and my peers. The only thing I have a issue with was my discharge. Not only was I wasn't really ready because I was self-harming and making suicidal ideation, but they told me an hour before I discharged! Luckily, I got to say my goodbyes to my friends/family but it felt rushed. But besides that, I loved it there.

Also shout out to the Sister Wisters!!! Sister struggle!!!

My sister was at the FE building for several months. During her stay the treatment team helped our family learn how to better communicate, and now my sister leads a happy healthy life. Thank you so much for all of your kindness and support!

I don't know how the Farm Home is now but back in 1996 I was placed here from Feb to September. This place was amazing back then. It would have helped me if I was willing, but I played the "fake it till you make it game. Hindsight really is 20/20.

I was here back in 2000. Really felt like it helped change my direction in a good way. I know it was a long time ago but it was a positive experience for me. Found myself thinking about it today and looked it up.

This place saved my life a number of years ago. It was the home that taught me how to breath and gave me the tool box to succeed. I have no idea how it is ran now but I would be honored to step foot on that campus one last time.

Honestly the best experience Ive ever had the staff are NOT physically mentally emotionally abusive the staff are amazing they gave me the life I should have and wanted they helped better me, I'm so glad I went they are doing the right thing I don't understand why people are making up crap about what happens there (probably because They refused to cooroperate and follow rules ) if you have the chance to better yourself here DO IT 🙂🙂🙂
