I'm visiting Hampton and I'm looking for a restaurant that captures the essence of the city. Let me tell you about this amazing place by the river. The views are breathtaking and the atmosphere is lively. They don't take reservations, so it's best to arrive early to avoid the crowds. Although the menu mostly features seafood, everything is cooked to perfection and tastes fantastic. I would rate the food 10/10, and the old fashioned drink was one of the best I've ever had."

The wait was about 45 minutes but everyone around us was telling us so many great things about the place. The waiting area downstairs was right on the pier so the view was beautiful and we didn't mind the wait. When we were finally seated, we had a gorgeous view of the sunset on the water watching sailboat float by. The waitress was really sweet and friendly and Gave us suggestions. We ordered crab cakes, she crab soup and key lime pie. Everything was out of this world. We will definitely come back again when in the area. Thank you Deadrise!
One note for improvement I hope they will make the stairs going up more accessible for guests with mobility issues.

Went on a Tuesday evening around 6, there was plenty of tables, however, the crowd picked up soon after. Minimal seating inside, but good vibes, good service, and most importantly…delicious food. I had the crab cakes entre and it was probably the best I ever had. My husband had the flounder and it was huge. We spent about $70 plus tip between the two of us (money well spent).

I wanted some great seafood while visiting the coast and I found it! ALL the food was excellent - some of the best I think I've had. I had the Rockfish, upon recommendation from the server, and was not in the least disappointed. I'd be tempted to fly 1200 miles just to hit this place up again.

Atmosphere is casual and it's not a big place. We had a large group and had to wait for about an hour, but it was worth it.

Thank you for great memories there and I hope I can come back when visiting family again. You'll be on the top of the list.

Our food was delicious. We had the flounder platter and the buffalo shrimp. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. We will definitely come back.

We went to Deadrise for a second time this evening. The food as well as service was just as amazing as our first visit. Our waitress Lee was one the best waitress we have ever had anywhere!! Despite it being busy she was very intensive and kind. We certainly come back for another visit.

We were having a beverage at the Oozlefinch Brewery, also on Fort Monroe, when I began to have a hankering for some crab cakes. Some real, delicious crab cakes with enormous chunks of jumbo lump in them. Lo and behold, I found a place with crab cakes on the menu, right inside the fort, and right on the waterfront. And the quality of the food matches the locale. The crab cakes were just as I'd hoped they would be: enormous, flavorful, crisped up on the outside, and loaded with huge chunks of crabmeat. The seafood trio enjoyed by my companion was no less incredible. To begin, we enjoyed the she-crab soup, which I regrettably failed to photograph. And we got to enjoy all this while sitting outside, a party to the nicest view of the sunset that you could get. It really was a sublime experience. They even had the very same beer from Oozlefinch that I had been enjoying earlier on draft. Top notch. It was a bit on the pricey side, but one would expect that based on the menu and location. I have no complaints and would most certainly return here.

A little pricey, but I guess everything is these days. Really enjoyed the food and the service. Very attentive servers and a very mellow inviting atmosphere. Would visit again.

Busy restaurant, and for good reason! The food was really delicious, and that bartender (Mer?) was busting her behind slanging drinks and taking orders. Big shout out to her for sure.

It was so hard to choose what to order! But we got the clam strips, Mediterranean salad with added blackened tuna, fish tacos with beans and rice, and hush puppies. Fantastic choices! We look forward to going back and trying even more of their menu.

The food is marvelous-- everything perfectly cooked and seasoned. It's a little pricey, yet crowded and casual, but if you're looking for genuinely delicious plates and friendly, attentive waitstaff (thank you, Ashton), The Deadrise will not disappoint! Avoid sitting outside late afternoon and evening if you get too hot and/or burn easily.

I ordered the crab sandwich and vegetables. It was mouth-watering good. I will definitely be back. I visited for a lunch meeting. The good came out quickly and the service was amazing. Not to mention the beautiful view at this place. 5 Stars all around ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Not a fancy seafood place, but a very tasty one. I got she crab soup to start off, and it was amazing. Then I got crab cakes and those were also delicious. The shareable seafood nachos were 100% shareable! They didn’t skimp on the seafood either. My husband got tuna and he gave it a thumbs up.

Just had a visit to the Deadrise with some girlfriends. The food was delicious as always, and the service was great. You can't beat the views. The only downside is the steep steps leading up to the restaurant. We had the crab dip appetizer and enjoyed some cocktails. The bloody mary was delicious. The food was absolutely perfect.

This place was so good I came back the next day with more people. The food was delicious. The service was fast, and the servers were friendly. The atmosphere, this may be a strange thing to say, but what struck me was the cleanliness. The place is older. I find in older places that owners get complacent on cleanliness. I was impressed. Planning another trip when my family comes to town.

I really enjoyed my experience eating dinner at the Deadrise. The wait was less than 10 minutes to get a table on the patio which was worth it for the view while eating. Got the calamari appetizer and fried flounder fish basket. I enjoyed both and especially liked the flounder. They have a decent beer selection and I was able to find one I enjoyed. Our server was friendly and attentive. Overall good experience and I would recommend eating here if you are looking for a good seafood restaurant.

Absolutely wonderful experience here. The food was soooo good. We started our dining experience with the Buffalo shrimp appetizer. The shrimp were the colossal size and the Buffalo sauce was so good and I don't care for Buffalo sauce. This buffalo sauce had a subtle heat on the back end. I had the trio platter with lump crabmeat, scallops and shrimp, roasted potatoes and veggies. Oh my word! I was dancing everytime I took a bite. Haha. My husband got the shrimp po'boy and he couldn't stop talking about the remoulade sauce and how we are coming back to try more of their menu. It's more of a laid back bar type setting and there is outdoor seating that overlooks the water. The waitresses were so friendly and sweet. We can't wait to go back!

Appetizers, food and drinks were phenomenal. Only disappointment was we couldn't be seated outside because of how popular the place is and the size of our group.

There was a lot of great seasonal menus. I orded Succotash shrimp and grits, which was so good! This place made me relaxing 😌
