Amazing food! Great service! And the Blue special was beyond worth it. I picked up fried chicken steak, sweet potato mash, and Brussels sprouts! Try it and tell me I'm wrong! Eric gave nothing less than stellar service! ❤

A great small spot for some good brunch. Had the Eggs Benedict. Great English muffins, wonderful hollandaise sauce, and the eggs were cooked perfectly.

Highly recommend for anyone coming into town to visit

I went here with a few of my family members and we had a fantastic time. The staff is incredible friendly and welcoming. The food was amazing. Everyone in my party was very pleased with the food and service. I got the blackened Cajun chicken wrap and man was it good. All the ingredients seemed very fresh and tasty. I also got their house made sparkling lemonade. And wow that was good.

Top favorite place in Richmond! My wife and I eat here often and tell everyone we know about it. Lots of great specials. Love the atmosphere and feel of the place. There is some outdoor seating as well. Not the best for really big parties but they are super accommodating with helping you and your party. Blue plate special - fried chicken with mashed potatoes and Brussels sprouts!

My wife and I dine here on a pretty regular basis. Food is always very good and I love the atmosphere it offers of a local Church hill neighborhood cozy bar/pub. Pictured are the Brussels sprouts off their appetizer menu. Very good and a very healthy potion offered. As regulars we highly recommend this place!
Went again last week - my wife had the filet and I had the chicken blue plate which is one of their signature offerings - awfully good!

Had such a considerate server. Told them I was stopping on my long drive and he made sure to get the food & bill quickly. They were turning out delicious food super quickly regardless (pick-ups and all) but really appreciated the gesture from start to finish. Food was delicious! Ambiance was very nice. Highly recommend and would come back! FYI street parking only.

A very laid-back vibe matches the dimly lit, dark wood interior. Service was on point and the food was good. My fried green tomato BLT was nicely enhanced with the spicy aioli the server recommended and my dining partner's burger was also well-executed and satisfying. Overall, nicely prepared classic American food.

Very nice neighborhood bar & restaurant! Blue Plate 🍽 specials before 6 pm. Good service, good food, but it is small, so prepare for a wait in prime time.
Had the special, panko fried Pork Chop w/ mashed Sweet Potato and Green Beans, YUM! 😋 Also got a side of Spoon 🥄 Bread 😍 Can't get much more Southern than that!!!!
Fantastic bar with some great bourbons and beer selections!

Super cute place on Church Hill. Pretty small inside, but cool vibe. Terrific service. Fun menu with sammys, vegie options and tasty affordable entrees. Get the adult limeade!

I love The Hill Cafe in historic Church Hill.

I have eaten there many times while working on Historic Houses in Richmond. The food is always delicious, the service is always excellent and attentive, and the atmosphere is always cozy and friendly.

I really like walking to this restaurant. There is never more than a few minutes wait on the busiest of days, so just sit at the bar and enjoy one of their great beers on tap.

My favorite is the Blue Plate Specials which includes a wonderful meatloaf. I also enjoy the fried oysters - yum!

Don't miss this place next time you are visiting Church Hill. Can't say enough food things.

Great food and excellent service! My only complaint was a really loud dog at the next table, but we did choose to sit outside, so not the restaurant's fault.

Came here twice in the past week while looking at properties in Church Hill. Food came out extremely fast for such a quality restaurant and was delicious. My wife got the fried green tomato BLT with pimento cheese with sweet potatoes fries and loved it. I had the redneck Benedict and it was also fantastic. We also got a burger to go which was excellent. Prices are very reasonable for quality of food. I will be coming back here for sure and would highly recommend.

We had a great experience at The Hill Cafe, it’s a bland opening line I know but there isn’t a better way to start. My date ordered the Meatloaf and Lemonade and I went with the daily special, Chicken Stir Fry with Eggplant, Jalapeño pepper Vegetable Medley. Both hit the spot and were well prepared with care. The taste of the dishes both rocked our mouths beyond words. The ambiance was intimate and welcoming and our server was fantastic. 5 stars for RVA.

Our group had meatloaf, burger, turkey club and a salad with grilled chicken. All were excellent! Not a big place since it is a neighborhood cafe. Staff very friendly and customer oriented. Assorted selection on the menu.

Hometown Richmond fare at reasonable prices. The staff is friendly and efficient. I had the meatloaf with mashed potatoes and braised collards with the house red wine. Followed by lemon cream cake. My friend had the southern fried pork chop with mashed potatoes and green beans followed by the chocolate cake. There are many other choices on the menu and I’ll have to try them sometime!

I got the country fried steak, collards, and spoonbread. I was really excited to see spoonbread on a menu and it definitely met my expectations. The meal basically tasted like my mom made it, and the price was crazy good-- like $16 for so much food I couldn't finish it. Also had a martini with garlic olives which were so delicious! Would definitely recommend coming here.

Incredible restaurant in Richmond, a nice hole-in-the-wall restaurant and bar, an awesome interior feel and a great selection of foods and drinks!

All the dishes (got three entrees with my parents) were superb, well flavored and seasoned! Got the fried chicken (pictured), pork chops (not pictured) and eggplant (not pictured)

Highly recommend for anyone

This is one of the best places I’ve eaten around. The service was decent and the food rocked. Fulfilled my expectations with the shrimp pasta paired with their house wine. The lighting and atmosphere is what I look for in good restaurants and this checked both!

First time back since I lived in Churchill. Just a small neighborhood restaurant/bar … unpretentious and warm. Looking forward to my favorite homemade meatloaf. Good selection of beer and cocktails. Outdoor seating in the fall is the best!
