An urban pedestrian and biking trail along the Norfolk waterfront boasting scenic views, parks, restaurants, breweries, monuments and excellent photo opportunities.

The portion of the trail we enjoyed was along the waterfront at Town Point Park, Waterside Ferry Dock, Nauticus, USS Wisconsin and the Pagoda.

It was a very peaceful place to walk at night with very little foot traffic or bike riders. It was clean and free of visible rubbish with many trash containers located along the route. We enjoyed watching the ferry dock.

We liked the trail so much we explored the Pagoda area after breakfast the next morning. It was quiet, peaceful and scenic.

Such a nice little retreat from the hustle and bustle of the city.

I have been walking this trail since it was created and I’m so happy that it is still being invested in by the community. There is always a new feature or event. The Weyanoke Bird & Wildflower Sanctuary is lovely and the Slover Library Story Trail with pages of picture books printed on canvas and affixed to the chain link fence each Summer are amazing.

Great waterfront walking trail when the weather is nice. Benches if you want to rest or just admire the view.

Nicest office building I’ve been in a long time. Nice architectural stop on the trail. Architect office in front left had great exhibit on hand press posters

The ERT offers amazing views of the Elizabeth River and connects NSU to Downtown to Chelsea to ODU to Larchmont. Lots to see and do along the way, including parks, restaurants, breweries, and more!

I love the ERT. I am just glad that more people don't use it because then it would be too crowded for my taste. I recently created a map of the ERT with the list of Norfolk significant trees and am looking forward to seeing exactly where each tree is in relation to the trail. More later on that. If you haven't checked out the trail, you should give it a try. You will be walking or riding outside in the still fresh air and giving your derriere a break from the couch and your couch a break from you. Have fun and be safe.

We spent an early morning walking the dog out here. It was lovely. I sorta feel like trail is a bit of a misnomer since there isn't much signage for it and directions drop you in the middle of town. So, not exactly what I expected but a great way to see downtown.

Really cool urban walking/biking trail. I've walked to end to end, as well as small segments from time to time. It's about 12 miles long, and has quite a bit of variation. It starts on the riverfront near Harbor Park, stays along the river up to Nauticus, then forks. You take it through Ghent, or the Fort Norfolk area (I recommend option 2), then re-converges in Chelsea.

Love this trail. So glad to be introduced to it by running and biking through Norfolk. It's great seeing all the new trail improvements and all the shops that have opened along the way.

Great views, so much to see in the area.

Lots of nice shops, restaurants, etc. nearby and Town Pointe Park is great just to see the water and take a walk through at little/no notice.

The Wisconsin and Nauticus are reason enough to visit the area, but stop in at Benny D'Amato's for a slice of pizza, walk around downtown and the park for a bit, and then stop by Hummingbird for some macarons or a slice of something just as amazing.

Great path to run or bike. Only downside is sometimes riding through urban areas the trail markers are not easily visible and you can get lost.
