I am really glad I gave this place another try after looking over their menu again! I've been coming here almost every week for a few months now.

This is my go-to place any time I want a great meal! The food is always cooked to perfection, and cared for by the owner. This restaurant is always clean and the staff are always very friendly. The owner, Mo (Moe?), greets everyone that comes in and leaves, and is often seen socially interacting with the guests in a positive manner. This restaurant is a gem in the community, on a busy thoroughfare. They offer dine-in and take-out, which is great for people like me who want to get in, grab the food, and run home to enjoy it with a movie. The food is never spicy or over-seasoned and always tastes amazing. Each time I go I am still blown away by the great taste. The fish is top-quality, and never smells bad or falling apart. The sauce paired with the fish is an amazing add-on that always enhances the flavor 5 times over. The fish is amazing with or without the added sauce. In addition to all this, they like to add a little extra treat in every box of fish (I won't spoil it for you! Order it and find out!!) The mac&cheese is nice and creamy. The corn is great! When you order that fried fish, you won't be sorry that you did!

When they say "Whole Catfish", they literally mean that it's a whole catfish...... Bones and fins deep fried with the meat!

Everything was delicious!! We had the 12 Shrimp Meal, 2 Fish & 2 Shrimp, and 3x3x3 with coleslaw, red beans & rice, green beans, Mac & cheese. Wow!!! We will be back sooner than later!!

Went to Sam's after a wonderful hike with my dog after reading reviews. The owner (?) was friendly and helped me choose as all choices were good. Ordered the 3x3x3. The food was fresh to order, delicious, and the perfect amount with some leftovers. Sauces were a nice compliment. What was very impressive was that I could tell the shrimp, oysters and catfish were fried in clean oil. That is to say the food was very light and not greasy at all! I even looked on the paper in which the food was served and could not see any spills or pools oil. So delicious! Next time my dog and I are this way to go hiking will stop by for sure for another round or try something new! Oh, and it was great as we took the food back to the hiking spot and ate outside... Everything was still crisp and hot!

Finally got a chance to go here. I've wanted to try this for a while. We ordered the fried whiting with mac and cheese and green beans with fried okra side and fried oysters (6)and red beans and rice. It was 3 big pieces of fish seasoned really and it comes with 3 really tasty hush puppies. The mac and cheese was good and so were the green beans. The fried okra was perfectly cooked. The sauce served with the food was delicious. I didnt even miss not having tartar sauce. The service was excellent and the staff was warm and friendly. I think the owner was there cooking and he kept checking over the counter if we were good. It has a nice home feel to the place. I will definitely be back again!

The food was sooooooo good. 😋 The owner is from Louisiana so he knows how to season his food, which most people don't up here. I loved the red beans and could eat a whole pot of those. I had catfish and chicken wings. I got some order that had a little of everything and it was a ton of food. I will definitely treck back to Manassas to get some good fried seafood.

Wow! Sams exceeded my expectations! I ordered the 12 pc grilled shrimp with mac n cheese and red beans and rice. The beans and rice were so well seasoned and my favorite part of the meal. My bf had the 3pc fried catfish with fries and mac n cheese...and it was also delicious! Both plates came with hush puppies and the cocktail sauce tastes homemade (yum). Coming from Houston and craving good seafood, this place hit the spot! We will definitely be back again.

That's how I would describe Sam's.
This Southern style eatery is impressive, way, way better seafood than Captain D's and Long John Silver's. The fried shrimp basket was perfect, shrimp were big, crisp & crunchy breading outside and perfectly cooked inside. The gumbo is wonderful, the fried green tomatoes are excellent, the fried okra is great, everything was freshly cooked and piping hot. Their house made tatar and cocktail sauces are very good as well.
Owner/operator Mo is a perfect gentleman, he greeted us warmly, offered a free taste of the gumbo (which was so good we ordered one for lunch and one to go) and he clearly takes great pride in his food. His staff is very friendly as well. Our meal was so good we ended up ordering more food to take home for later. They have an extensive menu that includes fried gizzards which were delicious and are very hard to find.
I'm so glad we took a chance and tried Sam's. If you are looking for casual yet delicious Louisiana style southern food this will be your new favorite place, go try it now, you can thank me later.

Wow I’m so so surprised. I ordered the dirty rice n beans Mac n cheese and 5 jumbo wings and yes they are very large. nothing looks appealing but it taste much better than it looks, wings are made to order and very crispy the rice n beans are the most surprising item that I’ve tried perfect flavor while the Mac & cheese is satisfactory it leaves something to be desired. All and all 9/10 for a fair price

Just finished my meal. I was in town for business and stopped here. The food is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! Delicious, well seasoned, and hot the entire time. I will drive 1 hour just to come back!!! I had the 3×3×3 combo & green tomatoes it's a must have!!!

Great, local southern eatery. Most everything is fried, so be ready for that -- we were. Great portion sizes. Hope this place lasts!

Very casual, with a small restaurant feel.

I ordered the 2 fish and 2 shrimp, it was delicious! I will definitely be coming back here. The service we received was excellent. I believe the owner was there on the grill. He made sure to ask us and other customers if everything was to our satisfaction. Its clear he really cares about his restaurant and the quality of his product. 10/10 would recommend.

This place is great. They were kind enough to let me sample their potato salad before making my decision as to whether I wanted it. (I loved it). I had the gumbo as well and it was really good. My husband also got catfish and fried shrimp.The cocktail sauce is the best I have ever tasted.Everything was above expectations including the service.

Fried shrimp was cooked perfectly and I agree with another reviewer who said “best cocktail sauce” they’ve ever had. Beans and rice had the perfect a mouth of heat. Can’t wait to come back and try other menu items. BTW the 5 Chicken Strip meal is huge. If you think you can handle… go for it!

I would have to say the others reviews led my friend on to this place. I was skeptical but It was all dissolved when I tasted the fish and shrimp.
I had the 2 piece catfish and 6 shrimp combo. This came with 3 hush puppies and 2 sides. For my sides I had green beans and because you all had suggested on reviews to try the beans. I got red beans and rice. My sides where very delicious. I did not see anything wrong with the decor of the restaurant in fact it was quite clean. I even saw the young lady come from registers and sanitized the booths.
The drink options are fountain or bottle soda and water. Thier is tea but at the time I went it was weak and not very good tasting.
The staff greet you well and are very friendly.
I giving this 5 stars for great atmosphere and awesome food and great service.

All I can say is....if you want the best southern tasting catfish in VA, come to Sam's. The portion size is spot on...the flavor of the fish is AMAZING and I've never been disappointed.
Don't even get me started on how tasty all the side items are because I don't have enough adjectives to describe the taste of them all. Bottom line - GREAT food, GREAT portion size and GREAT value!!

I am from the New Roads/Baton Rouge area in Louisiana where you REALLY have to know how to cook and the food is better than New Orleans. Unfortunately, Virginia doesn't measure up when it comes to that type of cooking and there are no restaurants that I have come across that cone close and I have been here in Virginia for 17 years now. However, I must say that I was pleasantly surprised with this restaurant. I ordered one of my favorites-the catfish poboy- and some catfish and a salad. Without me even specifying how to package it, they packaged it the way that I wanted. The salad contained the exact things that I like-tomatoes, cucumbers, pickles and lettuce. The catfish poboy and fries catfish hit the spot and dare I say, reminded me of home in Louisiana. Everything was good and I will definitely be a repeat customer. Kudos this restaurant. Great job!

I was a bit skeptical of this place when I walked in because the decorations on the wall were kind of pitiful and their bathroom floor was sticky but once I tasted the food all my worries melted away. Ordered the 3 fish 3 shrimp combo. Portion sizes were plentiful and I couldn't finish it all. Prices were very reasonable. Flavor was excellent and my father-in-law who is visiting from Colorado said he wants to come back for a 2nd dinner before he flies back.

First time visitor here. Wow! Excellent food and great service. Chicken livers were off the chart. Red beans and rice were top notch, along with the green beans. Fish was excellent and well cooked. Homemade tartar sauce was fantastic! I highly recommend this restaurant to everyone!

Food is amazing😋 The buffalo wings soooooo yummy 😋😋. Service is awesome 👌🏻 for sure we go back and try more food 😊😊
