Loved this place. We reached around 8 and started hiking and we finished around 11. It’s very scenic. Also, loved how quiet the place was!

A beautiful area to walk around, so much stuff to do you'll have to come back! I enjoyed the scenery and the quietness of the trail I was on. Great stuff!

Beautiful place to walk any time of the year. Every season is different. Great for camping, facilities are very clean and has amazing picnic areas. There are 40 miles of trails. It is safe and just learn where the parking areas are. I have walked every trail near the parking lots areas.

Rangers were very friendly and helpful. Park was clean and a great place to drive through with the family.
Lots of history, which we did not have time to explore.

Great park! Trails are well maintained and easy to follow, and it's just huge (I managed to hike 12 miles but there were miles more of trails I didn't even see) And it can't be understated that there are... So. Many. Trees. I know it's a forest park, but wow. If you think "forest bathing" sounds like something you want to try, this is the A+ premium place to do it. Beautiful greenery in every nook and cranny of this extensive well maintained forest.

Have visited twice now and love this place. A beautiful experience in nature. Saw a deer right off the children’s loop path the first time I visited. The second time, I took the Laurel trail loop and it was just so pretty and calming. The area by the creek is serene.

Loved this park. Would actually love to camp there when I step it up to that level. Only got to do one hike due to time constraints but so many appealing options. Lovely park, quiet but not secluded. Trails are well kept, visible blazers and great scenery. Family and dog friendly. Ranger @ visitor center was knowledgeable and very helpful. Would love to go back.

Love this park! Close by for us. TONS of trails for everyone too. You can grab an easy stroll on the fire roads or something a tad more challenging on some of the trails.
Visitor center has some nice gifts. Don't forget to have your National Park Passport stamped there too.
They have primitive and full hook up campsites. We've never used them but they look nice.
About a 3 mile dedicated bike lane on the scenic drive. Note that once you pass about parking lot C you have to go all the way around the scenic loop to get out of the park.
There's parking lots throughout so you can change up the entrance trails you use as well.

We’ve visited here a few times; it’s a great place to bike or hike. The land navigation or orienteering option is nice as well. Everything is well maintained and the park staff are extremely friendly and helpful. We will continue to visit and explore.

Very nice hiking trails, and many of them. Restrooms are fine, lots of parking. A worthwhile place to hike in northern Virginia. Campgrounds look nice as well.

We love this park. It has easy and moderate trails, a playground, and plenty of different types of spaces to enjoy the day. I use these trails very regularly and they are always well maintained and you can easily adjust your route to suit what you are looking to achieve. The rangers are all incredibly friendly as well.

Loved this little park right off of the I-95. Camped for a night at the Oak Ridge Campground, and it was very peaceful and nice. Free showers with hot water available. Did only one trail - Farms to Forest, and it had nice smooth dry dirt.

Great hidden gem this park. I'll re-review in Summer if the crowds make it unbearable but I did some hikes in January and it was, COLD, but delightfully deserted. The trails are well worn so easy to follow and I merged a couple of loops to do about a dozen or so miles each visit.

The paths were in need of some post- winter maintenance when I visited (see pics)

This is my favorite place to hike, run, ride a bicycle and enjoy the nature. I cannot say words that are good enough to describe this beautiful place. Annual pass is only $30 and it is completely worth it. Roads are nice and almost no traffic, perfect for riding and running. If you don't like hills then it may be not the best for you.

This is by far my favorite park to visit. It is large and you could spend days exploring this area. Many miles worth of trails and cool things to explore. Our favorite spot is about a 2 mile hike and you find a cool bridge and waterfall. There also never seems to be a lot of people there at once. You're never crowded and unable to enjoy the nature around. The rangers are very friendly and helpful. It's $15 to visit for the day or $30 for a year pass. If you live in the area just get the year pass! It's worth every penny.

This park is HUGE! With so many trails this park will take more than one day, a few days a least to get a sample of this park.

Key take aways:
- Free for military members
- Multiple trails, pretty much all of them are inclined. Not the best to take a stroller with all the uprooted tree roots. We did see someone jogging while on the trail.
- Great place for bicycling on the road rather it's professional or for pleasure with the family. All the trails have parking right outside of them.
- There is a scenic driving route you can take to view the park.
- Many picnic tables near the main office including sheltered tables.
- Visitor Center office has winter hours where they are closed from Wednesday-Thursday and open from Friday-Monday from 8:00 am - 4:00 pm.
- This is where to get your National Park passport book stamped at the visitor center.
- There are waterfalls you can view within the park.
- Bridges are all around the park, some in working condition and some being repaired.
- Bathrooms are located outside the visitor center.
- There is a water bottle water fountain located outside the visitor center.
- Maps are located outside the center so if it's closed you can still get one for the trails.
- Kids play ground is available.
- Not many trash cans available.

Overall this is a place you should visit while in the area.

We did a lovely 4 mile hike around the Farm to Forest Trail! The weather was perfect and there were not too many other hikers despite it being Saturday. There first signs or spring were popping up all over!
