Courtyard by Marriott Norfolk Downtown

Close to where we needed to be. Bed was soft. Shower was great regarding temp and pressure. Front desk staff were super nice. Put me in a room tucked away from the traffic. Let me keep the car in valet for an extra 30 min, but we ended up still picking up the car before our scheduled check out. They didn't blink an eye about allowing me to do so, which was great customer service. Valet staff were nice and helpful. They let me load my car up before we walked to breakfast. I'm happy to be a Bonvoy member. The Marriott chain is where to be.

Had a great time. My company had a banquet there for an awards benefit not long ago. Everyone was nice. The food was great and there was dancing and games. We all had a wonderful time.

Can't recommend this place ENOUGH! From the second I walked in, every single staff member I encountered was an absolute sweetheart, super nice, professional, and extremely helpful in giving me the lay of the land (first time traveling to Norfolk alone and needed my bearings). Then, when I realized I had forgotten to book a second night, I went down to the front desk, fully expecting it to be a headache to figure something out. Instead, the lovely person working the desk got me a second night with a couple clicks, saved me some money, and then recommended some amazing foodie places within walking distance! She asked if I'd need any extra room service, ran through any concerns I might have for check out, all with the best smile on her face. I've stayed at dozens of places over the years and haven't had HALF as good service as I've had here.

As far as the room goes, for me it's great and nothing fancy. Some others might be underwhelmed decor/amenities wise, but everything works and for someone like me who just needs somewhere safe to crash after exploring all day, this meets all my needs just fine! Showers are hot, beds are comfy, got a great top floor view of Downtown, I think this place knocked it out of the park!

The nicest staff ever! Stayed there while my Dad was having surgery, everyone from the parking attendant to the front desk always asked how he was doing and if there was anything they could do. You usually don't get that from people anymore. Truly a great group of people they have there!

Definitely recommend this hotel! Friendly staff that was very helpful in making recommendations regarding best dining and shopping in the area. Clean and quiet room with nice bedding. Clean bathroom. All in all a GREAT experience & value for the money

I stayed here for a week on business. The thing that stood out most about my stay is the incredible service from the staff at this hotel. From the minute I walked in until the minute I left, I was always greeted with a smile and a warm welcome. The customer service here is outstanding from the front desk to the restaurant/bar to the valet parking. Everyone was friendly and seemed genuinely happy to help. I only ate at the restaurant once and had wings and they were delicious. The room was clean, the fitness facility was nice, the terrace was really nice to relax on, and the pool looked nice although I didn't use it. The location was very close to downtown things to do and see and I walked to several restaurants and attractions with ease. The only thing that would have made this stay perfect would have been having a microwave in the room. Because I have food allergies, I have a hard time eating out so I have to cook for myself most of the time. I called ahead to make sure there would be a microwave in my room and the person I spoke with said he couldn't guarantee it. Unfortunately, there was not a microwave in my room. While there is a microwave in the small shop in the lobby, there were several times where I needed to prep several microwave items at once and it just wasn't conducive to doing that. Or after I was already in for the night and needed to heat something up, it was just inconvenient to get myself dressed again and head down to the lobby to heat up food. But this would not deter me from staying again if I am every in the area.

I had a one night stay for business at the courts next door to the hotel, having traveled from Pennsylvania at the end of a major storm. Arriving there were a couple of issues, on my part, regarding parking policy which were quickly resolved. Further, management and staff went over the top to make sure I had zero issues with checking out, getting my business taken care of, then departing when the court session was completed. They didn't have to do this. Without reservation, I can say this. This hotel is the place you should stay when you are in the Norfolk area. Nothing about your stay will be less than stellar.

The staff as a whole is a treasure! Each member whom we encountered was very helpful and had a great customer service ethic. We were in town for a parent's cardiac surgery, and this hotel is conveniently close to the Sentara Heart Hospital. And the clean,well-appointed rooms are so quiet! Although the trolley tracks run right in front of the hotel, from our 6th floor rooms, we couldn't hear the trains, or the street traffic for that matter, unless we listened intentionally.
The only tiny 2 things that could really use "a touch" are 1.) There is no night light in the bathroom, just the full-blast overhead light which is rough on the eyes on the middle of the night, and 2.) The lighting over the mirror is very dim. It's really tough to be sure that foundation makeup isn't streaky and that there are no powdery "crumbs" left in the face after applying eye and eyebrow products.
Adding a dimmer switch to the bathroom light and a swing-out, lighted makeup mirror to the wall at average eye-level would be a couple of ideas that would help rectify these small challenges.
Other than that, we LOVED the staff and this hotel and already plan to stay here again for Phase 2 of the heart surgery. Good job, Courtyard Team!!! ✨

Much nicer than your average Courtyard. The front desk staff in particular stood out! Rooms felt very clean and updated as well.

A word for the wise: Meter parking around the corner is free overnight. Much cheaper than the on-site valet.

Beautiful rooms, beautifully designed and updated building. Extremely gorgeous views of the city downtown Norfolk. As well as the ships. Love the amenities as well as the staff.

Comfortable room in a very nice section of Norfolk. The Bistro provided good food served hot and the staff were friendly and professional.

This hotel was great for the price. I loved the hot tub and pool; the weather was pretty bad the whole time so they were the saving grace of the trip. The staff are all super sweet too. Chris Robinson, the valet manager, is incredible. He was really friendly and helpful throughout my whole stay which made it that much better.

Our room was spacious and comfortable. There were lots of wonderful eating places for any meal of the day nearby. The biggest plus was the incredibly helpful and efficient staff. They were very friendly, warm, accommodating, and flexible. All of the people we interacted with were superb. They all had an amazing customer service attitude. We were celebrating a special wedding anniversary, and the staff went out of their way to make it comfortable, memorable and very special. All of the staff members and management went the extra mile to treat us superbly. The folks had a contagious enthusiasm that made our stay extra enjoyable.

Service was exceptional. Room was clean and location was convenient, a few blocks from Granby Street. Plan to stay here on future visits.

Rooms are clean, quiet and well appointed. Wifi is good. Staff is helpful and friendly. Good location.

I am not normally a big Marriott fan, but this was the friendliest Marriott I have ever been. Everyone there was super nice and helpful!!

Staff was very friendly and accommodating. When I arrived, I was very frazzled from a long travel day. Upon checking in I was greeted by a very pleasant young lady at the front desk. She made recommendations for places to eat and visit. Decided to eat in the hotel cafe that evening and encountered a very pleasant server. My room was very clean and quiet. Will definitely stay again. For the price of hotels in the Norfolk downtown area, this place was just as nice as the more expensive hotels. Highly recommend.
