Hill City Church

I have had a lot of terrible experiences with churches. And I can honestly say that this church makes me tear up every time I go because I don’t have to have my defensive walls up. As somebody who has had a lot of religious trauma and as black woman in predominantly white church settings I can say this is a SAFE space for anybody regardless of color or walk.
It’s so nice to see Christianity done right.

If you are curious about church or have ventured away because of past traumas with the Church or Christianity in general I highly recommend you give Hill City a chance. I grew up in southern Baptist churches and to keep it short, had several things happen throughout my life to make me have VERY strong opinions about the Church and Christianity. I still currently sit in the agnostic camp, but have been attending Hill City for 4-5 months now regularly. They have SHATTERED my view and opinions of everything. The community knows my feelings and still treats me like family. Even engaging in conversation with me about it without judgement. John Wagner, the head pastor, does NOT hold back during his semons. He keeps it so real it's brought a nonbeliever like myself to tears a few times. I Love every sermon I've heard even if I don't 100% agree every time. I learn about the bible through facts and research that John has done which is very different from I've experienced thus far. He breaks things down to how things were 2000 years ago vs today and why things are phrased the way they are while destroying misconceptions and falsehoods about the bible.

I could go forever about all the wonderful things and people I've experienced so far, but I won't. If you have kids, even if they have special needs the children's ministry is top notch and the praise band is one of the best I've ever seen.

I enjoy Hill City Church! It’s a Bible based church with sound theology and practical psychology. The people are friendly and not overly so. Worship is excellent and will leave you wanting more. The services are pretty short. If you have kids, they will enjoy the kids’ program!

Hillcity has been our church and family since 2020! We love them so much! Love and the spirit of God lives at this church! 🥰 come see for yourself!

We absolutely love everything about Hill City Church! The people are so kind and welcoming. The music is unbelievably remarkable. They have voices that should be recorded! Lamont’s voice is amazing! I look forward to hearing him every Sunday! John and Lacy have done an amazing job at making sure this Church is centered around the Faith of Jesus and to make a difference in the community. They help others and give back in the community through leadership, physical involvement, financially and spiritually. The services are always informative and I leave feeling that I have gained knowledge and I can make a difference in the world. I would definitely recommend this Church to anyone who is looking for a Church. Even if you have never been to Church or if you left Church and want to explore coming back to a Church. There is never pressure, Only open hearts and minds that will help guide you and love you.

A home for all who seek out the Lord or love and friendship. The fellowship and service aim to build you spiritually and personally. That entails adult and children. This church has left a lasting impact on me and I have only been attending for 6 months. Please take a chance one Sunday and come.

I was brought by a friend to church here at Hill City. Yeah, right- me at church.... it has CHANGED my life for the better in more ways than I can count. I look forward to Sunday morning just to go see friends and learn. It’s not a “bible thumping” force fees you Lord and more. ITS A SAFE PLACE NO MATTER WHERE YOU ON YOUR JOURNEY! And I am a critic in so many ways that I have been given so much just by giving to others first. It give you that aaaahhhhhh feeling in your gut. Come see the place alone or with another person. You won’t be pointed out is the new person with the name tag. If anything I’ve said here has felt or made you feel the same at some point when you think about church, please give it a chance!

It's growing on me. I attended Calvary chapel for a long time but we live far away from one now. We tried out Hill City Church and at first I didn't know if it was the right fit but every week it gets better and better.

A welcoming, friendly, safe environment that instantly feels like home. A great church for "not church people." Pastor John Wagler is friendly, relatable, and connects to the message in a really understandable way.

Multiple service building. Expertly run. Well maintained by GOD fearing people. Advisable for anyone who wants to have a great time with friends and family 😊
