Swede’s Cafe

The food was amazing and you can't beat the price! I particularly like the French toast. The hot chocolate was delicious as well. Great little location above a little shop. The table was a little sticky, but when syrup is involved, that is to be expected .

Great little cafe upstairs to a gift shop. Food was good and staff was pleasant. We ordered the Harveys Melt and Beth's French Toast Stack, both were very good!
The bathrooms are very clean too!

We ate lunch here while walking around Morganton. The pulled pork sandwich and Reuben were very very good. The serving sizes were more than enough. Prices were also reasonable. The upstairs area is cozy and filled with people of all ages. Drip coffee was better than average for a lunch café and the rye bread used is the best I have had. I recommend for a tasty local lunch!

Swede's Cafe is a great place for breakfast or lunch! We are thankful for their partnership with the Chamber! Their sandwiches are delicious for lunch and the scones are great for breakfast, as well as all their other items! They are always a hit when we use them!

Our family traveled from Spartanburg, SC up to the Grandfather Mountain Highland Games and stopped in here for some breakfast.

The family didn't just like the General Store, they loved it... but it was the Swede Cafe up the stairs that excited them the most.

If you live within driving distance, this town and this store/cafe should be on your visit list.

The food was great, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was fun and inviting.

And when you go... the Cortado was an incredible drink!

The friendliest staff and delicious food! Typically, small business restaurants have maybe two sugar free flavors for coffee but to my surprise they had quite a variety, including pumpkin!! And my coffee was made perfectly! As a diabetic this was a huge win for me. I’ll definitely be going back and highly recommend to others!

Had a delicious breakfast this morning at Swede’s! 2nd time there. Recently enjoyed lunch there, so we tried breakfast. Both of us had the Chelsey’s Egg Scramble Bowl and they were excellent! Coffee was great and everything was hot and timely. Fantastic service from the owner. We’ll definitely be back!

We forgot to take pics of the food! Almost all gone, and you know by now that’s a sign :) We were passing through from a graduation in Boone. Googled coffee shops and this hidden gem came up! Prompt service and perfect brunch like menu.

This cafe lives up to its appearance. It is cute and so is the food. Definitely not overpriced for the quality of food you are ordering!

Swede’s Cafe is THE place to go fir your breakfast or lunch. I love my honey lavender latte. It’s perfect every single time. Starbucks can’t do that it depends on their barista. But here at Swedes inside Morganton General Store upstairs it’s the nest. It made my move faster I knew I could get great coffee, friendly staff and caring. They have made my time by myself until my family moves so much easier. Check this place out!

Love this place. Great coffee, wonderful food. BBQ pork is the BEST. The staff is so friendly. Upstairs in Morganton General Store, you can look down and check out all the activity downstairs. Best of all... Open on Sundays!

We stopped in and had coffees and scones. Both were delicious. Staff was friendly and helpful. We were the only ones in there at the time. Saturday morning around 11am.

Y'all! This is SUCH a delightful, delicious, small town vibe. The General Store is on the bottom and Swede's is upstairs overlooking. The food is fantastic. Go and enjoy! You can thank me later.

My wife and I tried for the first time today after her radiation treatment. We did have one little issue and they went above and beyond what we expected to make it right! We couldn't have asked for more. Our food was great and the prices were very reasonable as well. Also loved the shop downstairs! Very unique. We will gladly return. Great Job!

My family and I came here for breakfast on a Saturday. I ordered Brittany’s French Toast and it did not disappoint. The toast was crunchy on the ends and ooey gooey in the middle. It was so moist I wasn’t even bothered that they didn’t add a side of butter. It didn’t need it! I also ordered their iced latte with extra vanilla and it was perfect.

I think we all walked away with full bellies and happy faces.

We were a bit disappointed that their tasty scones were not warmed before being brought to our table. I thought that was a given for scones but if you’re like us, and prefer them to be on the warm side, make sure you request it!

We found this place just passing through town and it’s amazing! Super great coffee and breakfast plus super friendly staff!
