Public Beach Access - Summer Place

Folly Beach is beautiful, but be prepared for the traffic in the summer. With only one, 2-lane road to get on and off the island, traffic can back up for 2 or more miles during the summer, especially the weekends. Parking is another issue to deal with. There is free, road-side parking, but keep the tires off the road, park in the direction of traffic, and heed the no parking signs. Also, paid parking is available. To beat the traffic and find parking, come out very early, before 8am.

I love this access to the old coast guard station. It leads to the patch of the beach that has fallen dead trees that create awesome pics and view to the Morris island light house. On a clear day, you can see the Ravenel Bridge, IOP, Sumpter, and a lot more. It's a magical place!

This is the last parking lot at the north/east end of Folly Beach and is closest to the Lighthouse Inlet Heritage Preserve. There is a small parking area with a kiosk to pay for the space. I don't know how aggressive they are or how much the fine is for not paying, but I would guess it's a major revenue source.

Other than a boardwalk to get over the dune without disturbing it, there are no other features here. No toilet, shower or benches. Unless you take good care, you will be tracking sand back into your vehicle.

The street/trail to the beach is a 3/4 mile street graffiti exhibit. The street has graffiti dating back to the 90s. There was nothing obscene that was saw.
The beack at the end is rustic, not commercialized, and Morris Light House is hard to miss.

Great stroll for the family. Most of the path is paved and is a local graffiti attraction. At the end of the paved path you can follow the sandy trail over the hill and get a great view of the light house. Very cool place to check. Mind the signs for "No Swimming" as the rip tide through this area is incredibly dangerous.

Brought the puppers down here to play ball. It was well worth the drive to the end of the island to get away from the large crowd!

Very calm and peaceful atmosphere. One word sums it up. TRANQUILITY...

Great beach walking towards the lighthouse. A few groins to cross if you go all the way to the inlet.

A late night visit (after clearing it with the local police) made it the best place in Folly Beach to visit! Park on the side of the road and walk down as far as you can. Tiny sand crabs rush everywhere, taking advantage of the lack of people, so watch your step.

Morris light house has an easy access for you to walk and see it. I do recommend a stop there.

Beautiful park! Highly recommended if your lucky you can see dolphins. The bone yard is a great photo opportunity with the light house in the background

Great spot and wasn't too crowded in late August. The beach was clean as well.
