Car broke down during the recent cold spell. I was able to get towed to Southcross Auto near my home. Knowing I wouldn’t hear back until Mon. I figured I would be waiting a while to get diagnostics and repairs. I was blown away with how quickly I was back up and running. Luckily no major work needed to be done and I was able to get the vehicle back before returning to work. Service was prompt and staff courteous. Nice to know I have a reliable auto shop nearby for future service needs.

Southcross auto did a great job replacing my breaks. I was able to get in quickly and the communication they provided was thorough. I have used them before and will use them again!

After being loyal to another local shop for many years I grew tired of their high pressure approach to pushing additional work. Every time I took one of my cars in I was presented with a fancy computer display of all the repairs that were "urgently" needed. I'm not one for ignoring preventative maintenance. When presented with the list of "urgently" needed work I became increasingly obligated to research the additional work; which I found to be not-so-urgent.

After reading reviews of Southcross Auto and interviewing Steve (the owner) I made the switch to Southcross for all of my family cars. They don't ignore issues I should be aware of; but they fix the problems and do the maintenance I request with quality work for a reasonable price. No pressure for more. So far I'm quite happy with Southcross Auto.

Great job replacing my rear axle seals on my bmw. Glad it's not leaking all over the ground anymore! Great crew, very friendly.

South Cross has serviced our 2004 Grand Cherokee for years, 160,000 miles and going strong. I won’t take my vehicle anywhere else for service.

April 2024 This is my third review because I'm a regular customer who now drives from Shakopee to Savage for my auto maintenance and repair needs at Southcross Auto Service. They consistently wow me with their competence, professionalism, can-do attitude, and honesty.

February 2023 This is my second review because I now count myself as a regular customer at Southcross Auto Service. I strongly recommend that you do business with Southcross for these reasons:

(1) COMPETENCE. Everyone from Olivia (service coordinator, front desk) to Bill (mechanic extraordinaire) to Steve (owner) knows what they are doing. It's refreshing to work with a business that does not cut corners by hiring less experienced people. For many companies, this is a business model for saving money; in fact, I've worked at such companies. Trust me, they are HORRIBLE companies to work at because you know customer service and quality workmanship are not a priority.

(2) INTEGRITY. Unlike the service department at the VW dealership (or any other dealership), you will not be sold something your car does not need. Just one example: Three years ago, the local VW service department recommended I purchase new windshield wipers. I declined because I don't drive that much in rain/snow. When I brought my car into Southcross Auto I asked for an estimate on all the items the VW factory recommends be done every 40k miles; after all, it had been three years since I had that kind of work done. When Steve (owner) got to the windshield wipers, instead of recommending new wipers, he asked: "How are they working right now?" Three years after VW recommended I get new wipers, I told him: "They're working fine." To which he responded: "Then there's no need to replace them." How's THAT for integrity?! He did the same with a couple of other items listed on the 40k maintenance schedule; in fact, it was a couple of high-priced items that don't need to be replaced unless they're showing wear or cracks...items that could have made Steve more money!

(3) LOCAL BUSINESS. Avoid the chains because your money does not remain in the community, it goes to corporate headquarters based in another state. Additionally, when you do business with a chain, you're dealing with policies and procedures that the manager has ZERO control over. That's not the case when you do business with a locally owned and operated business like Southcross Auto Service. You're dealing with Steve, the owner - and if not Steve, you're dealing with people who report directly to Steve. That's not the case at Discount Tire, Jiffy Lube, or any auto dealership. Additionally, locally owned and operated businesses just have a different feel than the chains. I don't know how to describe it. It's just different...in a positive way.

I could go on, but this is already too long. Just make an appointment and make yourself a regular customer at Southcross Auto Service, you will not be disappointed!

Probably the best auto service experience I’ve had. Was given a quote and able to get in right away. Not only did they provide great service but the total at the end came in UNDER the quote. Can’t recall the last time that’s happened for a fix on a vehicle. I’m glad I found a reliable honest place to bring my vehicles when there is an issue. Thanks again!

I’ve been looking for a local mechanic since moving back to MN a few years ago and this is the one I’ve been looking for. They are friendly, have great communication and follow-up and so far they have been very straight forward with what absolutely needs to be fixed and what might need to be fixed soon or in the future. I’ll be returning for any other work that I need to have done on my car when the time comes.

Excellent service, got me scheduled in same day, and charged less for battery and installation than others wanted just for the battery, no installation.
