As someone who has never been a fan of mechanics, it feels odd to me that I have anything bad to say about Sm1th Import Auto :) I have been nothing but impressed with all aspects of this shop. They are fair, honest, trustworthy, talented with a wrench, and will do whatever they can to help you out. Roughly 6 months after they installed an alternator, it seemed like the voltage output was low to me. I expected pushback on fixing it as it was on the edge of being in spec - but it was handled very smoothly and easily and at no additional cost to me (fully replaced, not just repaired). They have loaners (they ain't pretty, but they get you around), so you can drop your vehicle off and let them get to it when they have time. I highly recommend this shop and whatever tasks I don't take on myself will be headed right here!

This shop will treat you right! Our Honda had an AC issue and we brought it to the dealer and within minutes the dealer quoted us $2400! Thankfully my dad is in the car business and referred me here! Left with only paying $240 (nothing actually needed to be replaced like the dealer said) and couldn’t be happier. Trustworthy and reliable!

I can't say enough about the guys at Smith Import. After living abroad for a few years, our family returned to Hopkins and had to purchase two vehicles. We snagged a pair of 2011 VWs that had been part of the recall and had since been refurbished and resold. We love so much about our cars, BUT as everyone knows, these can be prone to some odd problems.
My relationship with Smith Import started when we were planning a road trip and wanted a good, reliable once-over (admittedly, fairly short-notice). They were able to fit me in within the week, they got to know my car, checked everything over well, and were clear and honest about what did (and what did NOT) need to be done. I appreciated the transparency and honesty so much!
Since then, I've had both our vehicles in a few times. Most recently, our second VW had an issue with the sound system - the system was still getting power, but the factory unit just... quit. They were able to get our car in, get ahold of the part, and get everything installed so smoothly. When there WAS a glitch in the process (the part that had been delivered had not arrived with the proper code to pair with the car), they were willing to work with me to make it right. They did what they had to do to finish the installation completely, and honor their contract, and they kept us as very happy customers.
They communicate well, I never have to wonder what is or isn't happening with my vehicle while it is in for service. Their prices are extremely competitive. All of these factors combined with their convenient location AND their awesome work doggos that hang out and greet visitors have made us repeat customers that recommend Smith Imports to anyone looking for auto care.

After going through some pretty major life changes, I bought a truck for pretty cheap needing it to at least get me to work and my kids to school, about 2 weeks in it totally broke down and wouldn't start. It broke down in front of another shop in EP which was quoting me more than I paid for the vehicle to fix. I have worked with Sm1th Imports for my entire driving life with different vehicles and have always had my expectations totally blown out of the water. So I decided to have the truck towed to them to look at it. Not only did the cost of repair go way down, they were able to cut out the unnecessary work knowing the situation I was in and got my truck running and us back on the road within a day! I'll still need more work on it down the road, but Greg was able to look at my truck with my circumstances in mind and determine what needed to be done in the immediate and what could wait a little longer (of course, not too long though!) which I think is a quality most shops refuse to do in my experience and shows the level of compassion he runs his business with. I will be bringing my truck back to them every time! And really appreciate the peace of mind that if something were to go wrong before then, I have a shop I can continually count on to help me! Especially as a single mom of 3 who couldn't change a tire no matter how many tutorials I watch, I couldn't be more thankful for! I also learned when I was last in about the services they offer with bats for softball /baseball players, and I think that alone shows how much of a family and community involved shop this is, I couldn't give them more stars!

Can't begin to complement this location enough, super work, extremely competitive. This garage is court appointed to mount safety devices in vehicles belonging to multiple offenders for drug and alcohol offenders for Hennepin County. Have used his services for multiple decades. He stays quite busy because of his reputation! Yes he has some large scary looking dogs which may be the best trained and mellow dogs on the planet!

A little costly, but they do a great job. When I'm having car problems and I have searched everywhere for dynastic, or simply to get my Vehicle fixed..... I can ALWAYS count on them. Even though I may be walking out of there after spending over a thousand. But at least I know my Vehicle is fixed.

Went to Smith Import Auto Care on a referral and was very pleased.Greg and Corey were great.I will definitely use them again!!.Corey was very thorough the list of repairs.Will be back again .
