All of the one star review are from people who are either ignorant of what actually happened or ignorant to what persecution actually is. Rods is a great place. Good food. Good coffee. Good people. It is disgusting that they are receiving such a tremendous backlash from people who went in with the intention of being kicked out. I am a Republican and I have never felt unwelcome in this establishment. But if someone goes in with the purpose of being kicked out, of course they will be kicked out because all they need to do is become more and more disruptive until it happens. This is not persecution nor is it fascism. Even if Rods did not set itself up to be a safe space (which it does), the behavior of the College Republicans was inappropriate at best. This is what they were kicked out for, not for having different beliefs or wearing MAGA hats. Do not let this one incident discourage you from going to Rods for a cup of coffee even if you don't tow the standard "liberal" line.

I love Rods it’s a great place to meet friends to study and do homework and get COFFEE (the main form of sustenance for all college students 😂). But most all it’s a very welcome environment as someone who is a conservative I have never once felt ostracized here. I have made some great friends and memories here. Not only that but there’s always something awesome to do whether it’s a concert, some awesome karaoke, or an art day. I have never love a place more especially all the great history of the building itself adds the final touch to the worlds most glorious coffee house.

I'm in Rods all the time and it's a great place to study and hang out with friends! I've also had the opportunity to have enlightening conversations with people of all different backgrounds and all walks of life. This includes people of differing political beliefs, sexualities, race, gender, etc. Take what you hear on the news with a grain of salt, because the reality that not all students who enjoy our coffee shop are Democrats or liberals! As a member of this club, I myself try to make everyone feel welcome.

Rod's is a great place! It is neither divisive nor hateful, it is a space in which all people can gather knowing that their humanity is respected. The only "restrictive" rule we have is no racism, sexism, or homophobia, which isn't really restrictive when you think about it. Rod's is not a political club, it doesn't seek to remove people based on their personal beliefs. All it is is a place where people know they will be treated with kindness and respect.

Rod's has received a few negative reviews recently from people who have never stepped inside the building and have no semblance of understanding of the culture within. It is a place that has always delivered on its promise of inclusiveness. When I watched 10-15 protesters march into the coffee shop in a pointed attempt at causing controversy, that promise was upheld and the protesters, making people uncomfortable and causing a disturbance, were asked to leave.

Delicious coffee and tea, cheap prices. Very friendly staff to all, except those that want to take away rights and dignity from marginalized groups.

Diverse opinions are welcome, so long as they are made in a respectful manner. Respect the staff respect the space and you won’t have any problems

Rod's has always been one of my favorite places on campus. It provides a fantastic place to get work down or to hang out with friends. Their tea selection is impeccable 10/10 would recommend the russian caravan tea it tastes like a campfire and is a wild ride from start to finish

I've never had a negative experience in Rodrigue's. Everyone is either there to be with friends or to get work done, and the whole environment is chill. The coffee is great, and the tea selection is amazing and extensive. I've made so many friends because of Rodrigue's and couldn't imagine doing the same in a Starbucks.

great place!! seems like conservatives are being typical snowflakes. brew your own coffee at home, because civilized people are better off without you all taking up space

Rodrigue's Coffee House is a wonderful place. The coffee is great and you will find the best people you've ever met here. Rod's is a good place to do homework, meet with friends or professors, and see amazing live music. One of Fordham University's greatest assets, this coffee house provides a space where human dignity is respected.

good coffee, better service. no hats allowed inside, but that's not a problem for me because I'm a gentleman and wasn't raised in a barn. beanies seem ok though because they protect against the cold

Awesome student run coffee house and DIY venue on fordhams campus!! They serve delicious fair trade coffee for super cheap prices. They provide a comforting safe space for studying, hanging out, and hosting a variety of lovely events! And the folks who manage the club are the best!!

I can always count on Rod's for a brilliant cup of coffee or tea or mocha or whatever I feel like having that day. I've never felt judged or restricted in what I can do or say here because I'm not someone who goes around looking for trouble, nor am I a hateful and spiteful person.

Came in the other day, the barista recognized me and started making my drink before I even got past “Hi, how was your day?” Always been served with a smile, and always felt comfortable in the atmosphere created by the students that hang out here.

So much care is put into this store! The negative reviews do not even remotely do it's justice of the members of the club and the business!
Will continue to support their cause! We have no reason to tolerate bigotry, not even symbols that represent them.

I’ve been going to Rodrigues coffee house for almost 2 years now as a sophomore at Fordham University. As a person that is part of the LGBT+ community I can say that Rodrigues coffee house is the most welcoming and accepting community I have ever been a part of, making friends with people of all different backgrounds with my time at rods. No one working behind the counter has made me feel uncomfortable because of my identity, which is a rarity with the current political nature of the United States and the Trump presidency. With a campus climate such as one like Fordham (a predominantly white, straight, cis, upper middle class institution), rods is one of the only place on campus where I fully feel like my humanity is taken into account before my outward appearance and identity. Coffee is a dollar but love is free at Rodrigues coffee house. And homophobia, racism, classism, neo-nazism are not love.

Rodrigue's Coffee House is truly a home away from home. The coffee is excellent, and there's always great music playing. The staff does a great job organizing fun live music events and coming up with great activities! In light of recent events, I find it helpful to note that Rodrigue's is not a political club, nor does it have any political ties. It's a place to study, meet professors for office hours, catch a weekend concert, and play around on the piano or at the pool table downstairs. Thanks for being you, Rodrigue's! :)

As someone who transferred from Fordham University, I can say that Rodrigue’s is one of the few aspects of Fordham I truly miss. The coffee shop and the club the runs it is one of the most accepting and welcoming places on campus, and I know that the events that transpired recently were clearly premeditated by those who claimed to be “just getting coffee” and meant to cause a dispute with the workers in order to garner media attention.

The service here is so amazing and I love going! Not to mention the brilliant coffee, it is overall a relaxing environment and safe space for everyone who enters. I can't wait to go back!
