I've been coming to here since I was a kid. Johnny's has always been my favorite summer place to eat in City Island. A lot of memories! Love you Johnny's! Fried Lobster, shrimp & clams are my fav!

Beautiful view and delicious food with reasonable price. There are so many selection to choose from. It’s very comfortable to sit outdoors when the weather is good to enjoy the nice view. Staffs are friendly. Would totally come visit again!

We recently dined at Johnny’s on City Island in the Bronx. While it may lack the frills of upscale restaurants, if you're a seafood lover looking for a reliably tasty meal with a view, this is the go-to spot!

The highlight for me was the fried lobster tails – they were absolutely delicious and always hit the spot. The batter was crispy, and the lobster inside was tender and flavorful. It's a must-try!

What sets this place apart is its optimal view of the Long Island Sound. The waterfront setting adds an extra layer of enjoyment to your dining experience. It's perfect for a relaxed meal with friends or family.

City Island is our spot for a Seafood Getaway as we travel from Maryland at least once a month. We frequented Johnnies Reef often back in the late 80's and 90's and decided to check them out as they were still in business. Still customer friendly and food cooked with great texture. We ordered our favorites fried lobster tails and shrimp. Both were tender, but seemed as though the seasoning was decreased, making the taste somewhat bland. The Pina Colada's were still amazing and we will return again when we travel back to City Island. Even though the seasoning was a little bland, they still deserve (5) stars.

This is my type of place to always come to.. While we're vacationing from Florida. The prices are always gouging up. The overall we love the taste and we will be back again Someday. Thank you.

I don’t eat usually fried food, but the Chicken liver with the lemon here jeez, least once in every summertime for the past 6-7 years.. Don’t skip the shrimps! Everything always fresh not oily,menu on the wall big section fish,calamari, clams, frog legs, but burgers shakes also! They have bar!
Johnny’s Reef located end of the City Island (last house on the left) sometimes people act like in the movie little crazy because parking a little tricky there . Just be patient and prepare,summer always busy there.
You can sit in- or outside, if jet skis around I love to watch the “show” just like yesterday.
Great place if you wanna pick up something and chill a bit after a beach day !

One of the most classic and epic places to go for fried seafood. Timeless and great to bring a group or people for a new experience. Bring cash no cards. Love this place

I absolutely love everything about this establishment. I had fried lobster tails,stuffed clams. Amazingly delicious! Food is fresh it comes with home made french fries cold slaw. Yummy.

My boyfriend brought me here on a food adventure on City Island. The place has been open for many decades. They have a huge variety of fried seafood. They also have raw clams and raw oysters. We got the soft shell crabs and the raw clams. We loved the food as it was hot and scrumptious. We also got the white clam chowder which was a potato base rather than the red clam chowder which is a tomato base. It was a pretty good portion for $6.

You have to try the house made tartar sauce.

All prices include taxes. They only accept cash. My boyfriend also mentioned that the fries are a huge improvement compared to a few years ago. There are birds that you can feed too if you have leftover fries.

I am a senior now, so I came this past Thursday (June 20, 2023) morning with a group from the NORC program.
Johnny's Reef is CASH ONLY! Good thing they had an ATM machine.
I feasted on frog legs. It was very nice to be able to sit and eat and not worry about birds swooping down, or baptizing you or your food with poop. There are wires overhead that one can barely see, but they prevent the birds from entering the space. Best idea they have had. The frog legs were excellent. I just wish they offered other vegetables as side orders. The frog legs only come with fries. Besides corn, they do not offer other options. However, I was happy to have the frog legs as I have not seen them offered any other place.

My childhood memories were made here! I love everything about this place. Good food and drink for reasonable prices.

If you want to time travel head to Johnny’s Reef - a classic fish fry spot with a unique way of ordering. They have their cooking methods down to a science - fantastic spot!

Been coming here for 20 years! My Dad used to take me here after a day of fishing at the bridge. Nothing but GREAT memories and INCREDIBLE food. The portions are proof that Johnny’s Reef really knows how to take care of their customers! Johnny’s Reef will always hold a special place in my heart, and of course in my stomach!

Always a "meet up" with old friends. Same servers every year greet you with a smile.

Delicious food,great prices,nice view. Was there with a friend, I ordered fish and friend had chicken wings with fries. You get a good quantity for 70 bucks.

Loved the setup! Tables distanced. Clean up crew on standby. Food was delish as always! So glad we got to go. On a rainy Thursday...thinking noone would be there...BUT NOPE, it was full. That's cause they ROCK!! A much needed outing for food and it didn't disappoint. THANK YOU!!

Frequented Johnny's as a kid, and teenager..even a bit in my adulthood years. I've been away 23 years, and made a visit back home, so stopped in. Many many great memories!! Great food a always.

Love Johnny’s tartar sauce and fresh crispy fish and shrimp. 👏🏼 fast service. Never go wrong with this place. Same taste every time I come here. I bring my own salad sometimes 🤷🏻‍♀ nobody said anything yet. Siting outside gives me picnic vibes by the water. 💙
