My go to Italian restaurant for many years when I lived in Great Neck, NY. I took my son/daughter to this restaurant after their elementary/middle/high school graduation. Even though it's highly unlikely I will be returning to this restaurant anytime soon - because I left the state - I highly recommend anyone live around New Hyde Park/Great Neck/Little Neck/Douglaston to try this beautiful restaurant. Order any pasta, risotto, salad.. you can't go wrong with any items in the menu.

First time here, and our meal was delicious! Fried calamari was cooked to perfection. The pesto dip was excellent! The mussels were great. Salmon was a nice portion and perfectly cooked. There is a party room in the back that is simple and elegant. Very charming and vintage. The staff was very friendly and attentive. Looking forward to coming back again.

This is one of my go-to Italian restaurants in the area! I have been there several times, and they have always been very accommodating. The food is delicious, and the portions are huge! I always leave there full and with a bunch of leftovers.

My favorite dishes there include:

Appetizers: calamari, arancini, burata, colossal meatball

Main Entree: short rib pasta, seafood pasta, salmon. I’ve also tried several other specials, and loved them all like the halibut and the lobster tail and shrimp pasta.

Desserts: crème brûlée, chocolate cake with ice cream, cheesecake

The servers are amazing, the restaurant interior is very appealing, and the price is reasonable. Highly recommended!

We had a private party / wedding dinner at this restaurant (we've also eaten here a few times as well too). It was wonderful. The space was beautiful, the food was delicious, and the staff was very professional and attentive. And most importantly our guests really enjoyed the evening. I would recommended this restaurant to anyone looking for a lovely evening dining out or a private party like we did.

Love this place, it’s been a family heirloom growing up in Queens. Okay I walk in a hostess by the name of Nica who immediately greets me. I ask if I can head to the bar, Nica directs me and I’m ready to go. It’s 2pm on a Thursday bars empty so it’s just me and few tables in the dining room. A gentleman comes with a a glass of water and menu and then just places it down then walks away. I tried to make conversation with him and that obviously didn’t work. He comes back after 5 mins I guess ready to take my order, I ask is this the lunch menu to spark conversation.. nothing at all. I tried to get him to suggestively sell me something.. his stale energy was such a turn off so I just order the meatball parm hero. So I sit here with my water and just wait to see if someone will offer me a drink. Now a bartender comes and asks me have I ordered yet. I say yes I have he gives me silverware offers me bread. As I sit patiently for a beverage offer I couldn’t help myself so I said hey what’s your name he says Phil.. Hey Phil do you recommend anything to drink with my meatball parm? He tells me the Pumpkin ale is great, I say I’ll have one. Pretty tasting beer I must say extremely refreshing. Clear indication that the taps are cleaned and handled well! Within 8 mins food is in front of me and I’m ready to dig it. This dish does not miss!!!! The Zucchini chips were a bit bland this time but I was hungry and the sandwich filled me up. My experience here today met my expectations, the service can always improve but overall everything here works. This is a local mom and pop.. memories are made here, moments are cherished here, come in for a quick bite for lunch or a casual dinner. The ambiance is everything!! Watching the chef next to the oven brick pizza flare was cool and seeing the locals come in/go feels like a classic movie from Queens past. Phil and Nica keep up the same energy for your current and future patrons you know what hospitality means! Thanks!

I really enjoyed the food and service here. Servers were very attentive and helpful. Food was brought out timely and with no issues.
The food itself and cocktails were very good. Even the complimentary bread was excellent. You have to be wary not to fill up on it.
Portions aren't humongous but reasonable.
Everything from the clam sauce to the steak offerings are done well.
Perfect spot for a date or a family night.
Atmosphere is a little dim and no parking lot, but those are small gripes.

What an amazing ole school Italian restaurant!!! The food is so DELICIOUS!!! I went for lunch had the crab cakes special it was divine. Had to return two days later for dinner. The bread with pesto olive oil is an experience of on its own. The fried calamari was one of the best I’ve ever tasted. Love the both style seating always a winner

A group of 13 of us joined in for one of the best dining experiences I have had in a long time. We started off with some baked clams, the colossal meatball and some fried calamari. All ver delicious…the meatball was definitely my favorite. The table ordered a variety of different meals but the two popular ones were the veal chop and lamb chops. Both incredible meals, the lamb was super tender and was a perfect meal portion after a good portion of appetizers. To finish off the meal was a desert plate that included an assortment of cheesecakes, tiramisu and millefoglie. The tiramisu was to die for. Overall, a fantastic dining experience…looking forward to dining there again in the near future.

Went here for my father-in-law’s birthday. The food was amazing, the service was top notch, the food was great. I would highly recommend it to someone who wants to dine in the Long Island/Queens border. Try the giant meatball, I forget the formal name but it was delicious. I uploaded the picture of it.

Excellent authentic Italian food! The service was amazing. We took our family to for Christmas dinner and they loved it. I could not find anything negative about this place. The price was reasonable for good food. Would definitely take my family here again.

The food was incredible. I brought in multiple clients who claimed it was the best Italian food they have ever had. I’d recommend the clams casino as an appetizer, the veal chop as an entree and the Bomboloni for dessert. The manager Patrick took care of me and my guests as usual with incredible service. Would highly recommend for anyone looking for authentic Italian food with high expectations.

I ordered a grilled chicken panini for about $10.95. There were four half pieces. There was a good amount of grilled chicken, and it came with balsamic vinegar. It was a filling lunch takeout.

Amazing dining experience for my dad’s birthday with the family. We had the best service, which is hard to come by these days. The busboy team was amazing as well. The food was awesome! We usually have to ask to not put so much salt in the dishes bc for some reason restaurants think salty food is what everyone likes (that’s a hard no btw). BUT we forgot to ask this time and the food came out perfect!!!! Not salty at all in every dish we ordered. We have never dined at the same place twice bc good food plus good service is hard to find but Luigi’s has got some new long time diners now! See you again soon!

My New favorite Italian restaurant! Amazing food, great service, warm family atmosphere, excellent pizza, drinks and desserts. Walking distance from the LIJ hospital. This is a neighborhood gem. Our new home away from home during a long hospital stay.

Yesterday, my parents and I went here to celebrate Christmas Eve. The food was great, the service was awesome, and our waitress was so sweet! My dad and I devoured that fried calamari(crispy perfection). I devoured that pasta dish(penne toscano with chicken); it was very delicious!! Y'all should come check out this place; they have really good Italian food!! Also, I saw a friend of mine at this restaurant from middle school!!

Luigi's experience was beyond any Italian restaurant I've ever been to. Every wait staff was attentive and served our large party with a smile. They were caring and accommodating with all our requests. The owner gave us food recommendations and we loved everything we ordered.

For appetizers, I ordered the Colossal Meatball with whipped ricotta and it was cooked perfectly, wasn't dry and the sauce paired well with meat.

I was recommended the steak tagliata and the port wine reduction was fantastic. Steak cooked perfectly to medium rare.

For dessert, I was recommended the cappuccino gelato, no regrets, the flavor of cappuccino was all over the gelato. My friend had the frozen strawberry shortcake and I should have ordered that.. all I gotta say.

I suggest making reservations as the restaurant was packed and I would 100% visit again. I want to try the fresh pastas next time and definitely order the strawberry shortcake dessert. 👍👍

The Pappardelle Short Rib Ragu is simply delightful! The braised beef short rib melts in your mouth, perfectly complemented by the rich flavors of the whipped ricotta, which adds a creamy texture that ties the dish together beautifully. I'm already looking forward to my next visit to enjoy this delicious dish again!

google photos doesn't do this place. the ambiance in the main room is fun and swanky, old New York vibes. food and drinks were phenomenal. truly authentic Italian.

9/6/22 finally back after many years (2000-07) so happy that pretty much everything is the same. The menu is slightly smaller but that's ok. The food is still amazing and the service, yeah just as good! It was cool to have the same waiter we did back then, and i saw a few other familiar faces working there. Certainly a great mark that the owners care about their employees.
I had the pappardelle with short rib ragu and it was excellent. Fried calamari was perfect as well.
