My favorite place to go work out! The Y offers so many programs for adults and kiddos of most ages! There's no sauna at this location FYI, but there is a nice pool. Clean and maintained!

I used to go to Coal Creek a lot but due to how crowded it is at times we started going to the Kent location. We had a couple bad(theft & management) experience prior and didn’t go to this location for awhile. But it’s different now. Whenever we enter the gym we are being greeted with smiles and it’s so helpful when employees help out by making our entrance easier. Wanted to give Janet a shout out for being so friendly and helpful. Shye is always so pleasant whenever we go in the morning as well. I have seen them put up volleyball nets and divides the other court into basketball as well. I do wish that their older kidszone area would open as well in the morning to allow toddler to enter. I do find it confusing that different locations have different guidelines.

My family and friends enjoy the Kent YMCA's open gym policy, which allows us to play basketball games and practice our skills. The YMCA understands that many of its members, especially those with children, enjoy using the open gym for basketball, and this location caters to this preference. I stopped going to the Matt Griffin YMCA because it often hosted different activities, which left only half of the gym available for basketball use sometimes, which was frustrating for many members. I appreciate the excellent customer service and professionalism of the Kent YMCA staff, and I am always impressed by the cleanliness of the facility.

I really enjoy coming here and have had nothing but positive interactions with the staff. They are very friendly and go out of their way to accommodate patrons. The staff really make the Kent YMCA feel like a community organization. It seems like suggestions are taken seriously and there is a noticeable effort to improve the facility and programs to better accommodate patrons. I do wish there was a way to control the overwhelming noise of the children, but I suppose that's mostly an issue of poor parenting. There are plenty of adults who can't maintain a normal speaking voice as well. There are also issues with the bathrooms being left in a disgusting condition. This is again due to families who do not show respect for a shared facility. I feel like there is very little that can be done by the YMCA staff to reasonably address these issues. Perhaps some steps to soundproof some areas or have some quiet hours in the lounge in the mornings.
On to actual review content; the scope of the facilities is very impressive. There is a lounge that offers free coffee in the mornings, there are seats available at tables as well as a desk ledge that runs along the wall on both sides, offering access to electrical outlets. There is also a couch.
There is a child care center, which I wish did not exist.
There are spacious locker rooms with the expected amenities for men and women, there are larger bathrooms which can be used. Trans people can use these for privacy, families can, disabled people can, anyone actually can. These bathrooms used to be dirty first thing in the morning and showed mold and other signs of inadequate cleaning. That is no longer the case. I filed a complaint and I'm sure others did. The problems were fixed very quickly. Unfortunately after the morning rush of families, the bathrooms are left in a poor state. They should be cleaned while the pool is closed.
These bathrooms lead directly to the pool, which is pretty nice, but not large enough to accommodate all the people who actually want to use the pool. This results in a rushed swim because there's always someone waiting. There are also often classes that blast loud music. And it isn't very good music! Also, kids.
There's a basketball court which I haven't used.
There are 2 classrooms upstairs that I also have not used.
There is a large walking/running indoor track.
The gym is very well-equipped. There is a large section with various types of free weights and benches, etc. I don't use those, so no input. They are always neatly organized, though. There is a wall with large mirrors in that area, which is very useful. There are 16 weight machines, arranged in 4 rows. The first 8 are for the lower body (mostly,) and the second 8 are upper body. All of these have diagrams for usage as well as which body parts will be targeted, so they are very newbie-friendly. Along the walls are exercise bikes, treadmills, stair machines, and other cardio machines. They all have nice views of the outside through large windows. There is a section in the center with recumbent bikes, rowing machines, and other machines I'm not familiar with. There are a couple Peloton bikes, as well as a classroom that has more. These machines are in pristine condition. They are obviously cleaned daily and when a machine is out of service, it is promptly marked as such and it is fixed very quickly. There is a small mat for stretching/yoga, and this is one of the few things I dislike. It is too small and there is nothing to assist in stretches. I mean blocks or straps or similar. Another issue I have with the gym in general is that there is nothing to stretch your legs on. I mean, in the whole YMCA. There maybe in a classroom, but those are locked when not in use. A small section of freely accessible barre would be fantastic. Again, children are a problem, and a serious one in the gym. Someone could easily get distracted by a child running around and hurt themselves or the kid. The policy on unattended children should definitely be enforced here.

Overall, I highly recommend this YMCA.

Highly recommend Ricky's Kung-Fu classes - he's a great instructor and his class is a lot of fun. Perfect for anyone interested in martial arts or simply looking to move their body.

I go here to work out at the gym daily, and it's literally fine. No problems, very clean. As far as I know, this has always been a good a community.

Very clean facilities. The gym is spacious and the pool locker rooms are some of the nicest I’ve ever seen. Free lockable lockers. The pool is small but has everything you need. The staff are sometimes learning but they always work hard to help you out. Such a great community hub.

They must have recently changed leadership for the better because this location has really cracked down on checking people as they come in not just for memberships but they make sure they are "safe" people as well which provides an extra sense of security especially with all the small children that use the facility. The swim program has also gotten a major facelift. We have always enjoyed the facility and staff but it really lacked a sense of professionalism especially when it came to the swim program. It is very obvious they have reinvested in their organization and have prioritized safety, and training for staff. The changes are great and we are looking forward to continuing to come here in the future!

Great facility for folks with families! I think they've worked out a lot of the initial "Opening" kinks they had first off, like any brand new facility would. My 3 year old LOVES coming here... she asks every weekend if we can go to the YMCA and the teachers in the Kids Zone are just fantastic.

Mom and Dad workout upstairs (I usually do one of their fun classes - advice , show-up 5 minutes early because they do fill up), pick up our daughter and then we all usually head to the pool for some fun! We have never had an issue getting wristbands and the pool is heated. Locker rooms are a little chilly though.

Beautiful brand new YMCA in Kent! The building, and parking lot are spacious and well designed. Staff is friendly, just a little overwhelmed due to the high foot traffic during grand opening week, which is understandable.
Hopefully, we, as a community will keep this place clean, and in good shape in the years to come. Today, since I parked I found garbage... empty juice bottles in the parking lot, more trash in the lobby, and inside the showers dirty diapers. Then, several young children were using offensive language, & behavior...and their parents on their phones carefree.
It is up to us to keep this place in good condition, clean, and decent...let's show pride in ownership, Lets pick up after ourselves, and teach our children to do the same...to respect private property, and to be respectful so we can coexist peacefully and enjoy the activities in this beautiful facility. (My 5 stars review was based on the facility, its ameneties, membership price, and staff.)

Great facility! They’re a little overwhelmed by the hoards of people signing up for memberships. But in a few weeks it should slow down, and be a great place for my family. We enjoy the pool today!

Quiet YMCA compared to most. Its smaller too, great place for lap swims in the morning and childcare is helpful for weights later in the day.
