Albany Community Health Clinic

My son is a full time college student now, and uninsured. We’ve been going to Grand Ave Urgent Care and very happy with the care he’s been getting there, but scrapping the funds together to get him seen this last illness was harder than it should be. Was talking to a friend with medical experience after seeing the downtown clinic would be closed till after the new year, she suggested I contact Albany Community Health. She explained to me that they charge based on income, which was welcomed information considering we can’t even afford to pay attention; let alone for a doctor’s visit. Finally, I could breathe better than I’d been able to for days fearing that since my son had pneumonia earlier this year, probably had it again. He’d been battling another respiratory infection for about a week, with a temp of 103.8.
Being a parent with a limited income, finding him medical care on a sliding scale was invaluable. I was able to schedule him an appointment for the following day. His provider was extremely thorough, patient, kind, and caring. They’re easy to find, there’s plenty of parking, the office is clean, and all the staff were kind and helpful.

I have been going to ACHC for several years and I highly recommend this clinic! My primary was Jessica Warren, APRN- NP, and she is the first health care provider who gave me confidence to talk about myself and my health. She validated my experiences and was willing to do what ever it took to improve my health.
Their sliding fee scale allowed me too received much needed medical assistance. Anytime I had an issue with billing the front desk fixed things ASAP. I have truly enjoyed being seen here and I will miss their clinic very much.

Absolutely the best doctor I have ever been to! Seriously a life savor. They offer a sliding scale depending on your income. This alone makes them easily the best due to me paying about 1/15 the price of urgent care. Gone are the days of paying 300+ bucks to get a sore throat checked out. The best part though is the practitioners there. They are absolutely the best health care professionals I have ever interacted with. They make you feel like you matter at all and are extremely helpful. Seriously, go here!

My mom went to see Jessica a couple weeks before. She is one of the best physicians I had ever met. She is knowledgeable, patient, and efficient. More importantly, her smile made us feel comfortable and warm!!! Other staff were also very helpful and kind! We will have another appointment with Nancy. Looking forward to that! I would definitely recommend this place to my friends.

Sep 8th, 2020, updates. My father went to see Nancy last Friday. Another great experience!!! My dead had stroke in his head a couple years ago. He always feels uncomfortable in his right arms, hands, and legs, and he feels more pain since July. We were wondering if it was caused by new strokes and worried about it! But Nancy told us it is just the nurse damage and prescribed new medication for my Dad. Nancy is also one of the best! She is very knowledgeable, patient, and helpful. My dad felt much relaxed after talking with her even with the language barriers. I love her confidence!

We've been to the clinic three times now. Each time they were professional and friendly. They were able to get us in the same day I called. My son had an injury and the medical staff knew he needed x-rays. She set those up for us at the hospital. She called us back immediately after the x-ray results came in and let us know we needed to see a specialist. We felt very well taken care of! Thank you!

I would recommend this clinic to anyone looking for quality primary care, counseling, or psychiatric care! They offer great options for folks who qualify for financial assistance, and really care about helping you take charge of your health. I've noticed they try to get patients in on short notice, and have such friendly providers and nurses! Great clinic!

I've had multiple great experiences at this clinic. Each and every member of the staff has gone above and beyond for my needs, whether it was the front desk staff or the practitioners that work with me. You can't go wrong visiting them!

Dr. West and everyone else at this clinic from the receptionist to nurses are exceptional compared to other Drs/Offices.

Fast ! I'm happy to see people like me won't be stuck in the in-between. It was nice, clean and we only paid 5$.

Kind , friendly , and are willing to help you even with no health insurance. Exactly grateful to the staff.

This was difficult for me to write, as I know they are doing what they can with the restraints given to them. This is a systemic review, not a review of any particular individual, per se. However, as any agency they are driven by policy, not by caring for the needs of people as a general rule and this is incredibly disappointing. Their policies are based on need for income and not the well being of others. Examples: not being able to have a standing appointment with your therapist; not being able to book more than one appointment per week; the therapist seemingly not having the power to do anything themselves with their clients -but the agency having more power than the therapist-> all red flags that this agency is money driven, not client-centered. Their policies are actually driving clients away, and not bringing clients in because they do not understand, nor care for their needs. Another example worth looking into would be their policy on tardiness. Although I understand the need to have the full 50 minute session (and they get their money either way), if the client is at their door, turning them away even to see a therapist for 40 minutes (if you’re 10 minutes late-because going over that is against policy) when they need someone, is unprofessional. Who are they actually punishing with this policy? Their pocketbook? No. The clients. And why would they want to punish them anyway? It’s time to rethink policies, if the people of Laramie and their mental and emotional health are really the main focus.
Edit: Changed to 3 stars for 2 people: Sarah (who was my therapist and is no longer there, and was actually doing her best for me, I believe within the constraints of a system. A wonderful therapist in the beginning of her career who will go on to do great things. And Aida, the Receptionist, who was always very kind and patient with me. Grateful for them.)

Do NOT send your loved ones here. Especially for mental health issues. My sister has been unlawfully detained and forced into the ivinson psychiatric ward because she was deemed “incapable of caring for herself” which is blatantly untrue and well-documented from our other physicians and mental health advisors. We are now having to pursue legal action to sue this clinic and the hospital. Save yourself the trouble and go literally ANYWHERE else. These people are not knowledgeable, and will detain you for the smallest issue without your consent if they believe you struggle with ANY mental health problems. My sister may not have the money for a good lawyer, (and they know that), but I do. And I plan to make them pay for every second she spends away from home.
