My dog suffered from non healing corneal ulcer for 2 months. We tried different kinds of antibiotics but it just didn’t go away. She, my dog, was constantly symptomatic (squinting, edema, tears), so we made an appt with this eye clinic. We met Dr. Zirofsky for initial exam, and she well explained what was going on with her eye and what would be the best treatment for it. She took her time with us and reassured us with her knowledge and kindness.
We decided to try eyeQ amniotic eye drop first for 2 weeks to see if it would do the magic; It didn’t. So the next best option was getting a grid keratotomy surgery. We could get that scheduled fairly quickly, and the surgery was only like 2 hours with sedation.
First 2-3 days after surgery, her eye became bluish with discharges, but it started looking much better from day 4. They put a bandage lense, which lasted about 10 days.
We met Dr. Zirofsky 2 weeks after the surgery, and my dog’s eye was completely healed!! She once again thoroughly examined my dog’s eyes and shared her opinions.
Cost-wise, I honestly think it was reasonable. Yes, initial examination seemed to be a bit expensive, but when I compared stain test and medicine (same kinds) with other clinics, it was close to regular vet’s price and cheaper than urgent clinics. And the surgery cost itself was as expected and they provided detailed list.
So overall, I am glad I chose this clinic, and my dog and I feel lucky that we met Dr. Zirofsky. Thank you!

Very nice and welcoming reception. My dog is untrusted to vet, but Dr. Zirofsky is very professional, and she and other staff gently and carefully treated my dog. A lot of thanks this clinic for assisting us this week.

Our dog had cataract surgery here, great service with patience for both the humans and dog involved. They have been responsive and help us stay on top of our girl’s needs. They are busy (the story of many specialty vets in Seattle area), but we are still pleased with the quality of care we received. Post-surgery we were calling in with questions and concerns and all were handled promptly!

They were wonderful to my pup. She got tons of attention and really really spoiled during her exam.

We brought our dog in after he lost in vision over just a few weeks. We were able to get an appt quickly and had a great experience. Dr. Zirofsky was excellent at explaining what was going on with our dog medically and is also extremely compassionate and understanding. Our dog can be very nervous at the vet and everyone working with him was kind and gentle. We appreciate the care we got here so much.

There are two mistakes I made as a first-time dog parent:
1. Not getting pet insurance soon enough, and
2. Not taking my dog to NAES early enough!

In September, I took my dog to the beach, sand got into his left eye, and my dog rubbed it. He started to become tearful and was squinting all the time. After four visits (roughly $800, including medications) at a general vet clinic, the vet said our dog got an indolent eye ulcer on his left eye and needed surgery.

At the time, I contacted NAES but eventually chose to get the surgery done at the general vet clinic due to the cost. However, the surgery was only half-successful (another $600+ at the general vet clinic), and an ulcer started to appear on my dog's right eye.

I got stressed out and finally took my dog to NAES. The scheduling service and staff members are amazing! They quickly scheduled us for the next available appointment and took my dog in as a new patient.

Dr. Jones is very professional, knowledgeable, and experienced. By prescribing my dog a special eye serum and letting him wear a contact lense for a week, my dog's right eye ulcer healed completely!!! This is a treatment method I never knew or ever discussed at the general vet clinic. The left eye (which had the surgery) was more resistant to heal, but Dr. Jone performed a diamond burr, and now my dog's eye is doing better than ever! Dr. Jones was so friendly and communicative throughout the entire process. Also, shoutout to Lauryn, a great technician, who is also very knowledgeable, responsive, and professional!

Yes, NAES is more expensive than some other clinics, but their experience and level of care make it all worth it. I regret not taking my dog in sooner so he would have only needed to go through one surgery instead of two. And who knows, maybe Dr. Jones could have cured his left eye without surgery.

The only improvement I suggest is that the check-out process can be a little faster. But I also understand because of how detailed the discharge instructions are and the time it takes to prepare them. NAES is amazing. It will be the only place we go for my dog's eye problems.

I had the BEST experience with Northwest Animal Eye Specialists.

After several visits to the vet, tests, medications, and months of no improvement for a continuous eye infection, my vet referred me to a list of specialists with a diagnosis of suspected entropion (lower eye lid curling inwards towards eye). Because there are no animal eye specialists near Bellingham and the borders are currently closed to non-essential travel, all of these specialists were down South. I chose NWAES because they were the closest, but now I will choose them hands-down if my pets ever need special eye care again.

I had to cancel multiple appointments for my cat due my own health problems and NWAES was understanding and patient every time.
Our visits down there for the three appointments were quick and painless. The vet techs/assistants reception and surgeon are all very warm & friendly, helpful, and informative. They are also very upfront about costs and give you an itemized quote beforehand which I found very helpful.

The entropion surgery worked very well. I was a little nervous when the surgeon told me she likes to over-correct as sometimes if you do normal correction, it has a greater chance of coming back. I decided on the over correction hoping he wouldn't be left with a gaping/droopy eye lid.

It healed up perfectly and his pretty little cross-eye is back to full health again! I always felt he was in good hands and cared for every time I brought him in. They even decorated his cone of shame with stickers and his name. I highly recommend NWAES!

His vet had noticed some cloudiness in my dog's eyes and I found this clinic while researching Ophthalmologists. I submitted the new patient form online, received an almost immediate response, had his records sent over and had an appointment confirmed that day for just over a week out. We went this morning. Very friendly and organized team. We saw a visiting doctor (Dr Jamie Schorling) who is caring and comforted my dog during the unfamiliar exam. Recommended.

NW Animal Eye Specialists, especially Dr. Zirofsky is incredible and very compassionate towards our beloved Mattie (19 years old). They have been treating her eye for 2 years from the initial hemorrhage, surgical treatment and stabilization. Highly recommend them for all of your furry friend eye needs. Ask your vet for a referral to get a faster appointment if it is an urgent need because they are busy and book 2-3 months out.

Amazing people and super professional staff from the front desk all the way to the doctor. I was amazed by the way how smooth they handle my dog to do the eyes tests and examination without making him feel scare or anxious. I really appreciate how comprehensive Dr. Zirofsky was explaining me his glaucoma issue and treatment. The eyes drops has made a big difference in Coco's mood for good. Thank you so much for everything and also for being a great team out there helping pets by fixing their eyes.

Dr Jones and her team had treated many of my dogs since the opening of her clinic here. I am so thankful to have access to her expertise. She and her team had treated my dogs for growth on eye lid, in-grown eye lashes, growth under eyelid, and many more conditions. The staff is so compassionate and helpful.

Everyone here is amazing! The techs are so sweet to my Cooper, they understand how scared he was and helped him relax. Dr. Jones is simply wonderful! She is incredibly knowledgable, and I am so impressed with her willingness to take on an emergency at the last minute, and continue to fit us in to her already busy schedule. Thanks to her skill and the kindness of the staff, my sweet boy still has his eye and is on the way to full recovery, and he very nearly lost it. I can't give them enough stars!

Our little girl a Whisky first arrived 3 months ago in a state where we thought she might need to lose an eye through glaucoma. Yesterday she was given the all clear - her vision has never been better.

I could not be happier with the outcome or the way they walked us through her care.

Thank you.

These are the best eye specialists in the city. I talked to another customer that has to drive 1 1/2 hours just to bring their dog here for treatment. Friendly staff and good doctors.

We have been visiting NWAES for a few years now and are so impressed. Dr. Zirofsky is hands down our dog's favorite member of his care team - her bedside manner with animals is fantastic. She is also extremely knowledgeable and takes time to thoroughly explain options for care. We have had successful double cherry eye surgery and treatment for a very deep corneal ulcer and could not have been happier with the results.

They had a full facility, as far as appointments and we still got in/out quickly. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. They had a great potty area for the animals.

We have been fortunate w/our older cats. A few bonehead moves=injuries. Dental surgery.
We were referred in Jan to a "specialist" and my guard was immediately up. Fear of cost & her health. I crumbled under MKY OWN pressure quickly and we ended up in Kirkland office. She (Weiner) is small orange and a nervous nelly- so she channels her inner bobcat and it works!😋. They come to get me and it's not difficult. I Have NEVER seen her act as relaxed, as appropriate or be nearly as cooperative as she was in Kirkland. (She still hisses at times to my Mom!)
Dr. Zirofsky & staff were happy and I felt as happy for Weiner! It is spendy but necessary and if I lived in a building with a rooftop, I would brave the climb and bellow out: "GO SEE THE CREW AT NW ANIMAL EYE SPECIALISTS!!!! TOP NOTCH! THEY'VE GOT IT GOING ON!!"
Carolyn Parris.
Be Well.
