Mario's Italian Restaurant

Every time I go there I have a great experience. Today I got a house special steak. The sauce was fantastic. My wife got the salmon and stated it was wonderful too

My wife was staying in a physical rehabilitation facility in Portsmouth VA and wanted chicken fettuccine alfredo for dinner. We are not from the area so googled places nearby and came up with Amici's/Maria's Italian restaurant. I ordered for pickup the fettuccine dish, 1/2 chopped salad, and full-sized antipasti said. I happened to mention it was my wife's birthday and this was her favorite meal.

I ordered it two hours early because of a delay in my arrival and when I arrived on time, our order was waiting for me. The hostess was super nice and helpful, (and attractive).

When I opened the order (which was piping hot) back with my wife, the restaurant had written HAPPY BIRTHDAY on the boxes and included a special treat for my wife. She was SUPREMELY BLESSED!

If you are looking for a great place that treats customers like royalty deserving the best Italian food, don't go ANYWHERE ELSE!!

Can't wait to go back.

Excellent food, waitress we had for Red Hatters gathering in December is Best Ever! Chef was on point! And our evening was enjoyable for all. Music was great and management took very good care of our group. Can't give enough accolades to this establishment. Would Highly recommend this place to Everyone!!!

Relaxing, laid back, friendly place. Great food, great service. The crowd is middle aged and eclectic. The staff is awesome and works hard to take care of you. Live music and comedy has found a home here. Their pizza is the best we've found in Hampton Roads hands down!

We had a class dinner tonight. All was as expected. There were about 25 of us. Food was superb. Service was excellent. Portions are so generous most of us brought food home. Prices are good for a good Italian restaurant. We never go anywhere else for our gatherings anymore.

The food was fresh and fabulous. I had the Polo Chesapeake and my husband had the Chicken Marsala. Both dishes were excellent. The service was great and we loved the ambiance of the restaurant. We will definitely go back.

Great food, excellent service, clean cut and conservative patrons. Excellent for a quiet conversation, but a good time can spring up at anytime. Live ballroom dancing, classic atmosphere. The discreet gentleman would approve.

I've known Mario's restaurant since I was a boy. They have the greatest Pizza you could ever have the food there is absolutely fantastic the atmosphere is great. The people are very friendly and it's just a very nice place to retreat to when you want to relax and have a drink. I highly recommend it to anyone who wants good food good drinks and Good times

This hometown restaurant is absolutely a place to visit if you are in Portsmouth! The upgraded renovations give more character to this local Italian style restaurant. Also their chef Gus I highly recommend, he has pride in his cooking, as well as priority of excellence with his dishes! I always stop in when I can! Many fine Italian recipes as well as homemade mouthwatering pies!

We went there a few Saturday nights ago to hear the Baddadz...great band. Ordered the Margherita Pizza, that's fresh mozzarella. fresh tomatoes, fresh basil...the colors of the Italian flag, green, red & white. The pizza had an amazing thin crust and everything on top of it was to perfection. I can't speak for anything else on the menu but this pizza was the bomb.

My fianc`e and I decided to venture to a new restaurant for our 4 year anniversary after having a not so good experience at our usual dining spot, (Eastside). We both walked out full, satisfied, and smiling 😋!!! Nice friendly atmosphere, friendly well mannered staff and my Veal Parmigiana was FANTASTIC. My fianc`e fell in love with the Seafood Alfredo 😉. Yes we will definitely be returning to Mario's!!!

My daughter and I went for dinner and Comedy Night. Food was delicious, wait staff was awesome and the show was very good. All three comedians were really funny! Good time!

Another hidden gem in Portsmouth. True Italian cuisine and pizza. Love everything, everytime! Quaint, cozy, and such a good dining experience. You won't leave hungry, but you will leave happy!

Basil Salmon Spinich and Ravioli was incredible. Wait staff were helpful and exceptionally courteous even with our party being over closing. Recommendation for anyone dinning out.

Love love love this place!!! Great food great people and great live bands on select nights!! Their Sunday brunch and bloody Mary bar is the best!!

Mario's provides a warm dinning experience with a bit of ambiance. The establishment also provides a section for live entertainment and dance floor. The lounge area has seating in booths or table tops as well as bar seats. I was in the food and beverage industry in Hawaii for 12 yrs. where its all about "Service" . Mario's Staff is certainly equipped with ALOHA SPIRIT thats for sure. They are eager to serve, and always have beautiful smiles !!. So make Mario's your next stop for a Great dinning experience !

Unfortunately as great as the food was. As wonderful as the staff and owners were. They have closed. I feel terrible for not patronizing as much as I should. I also wish all the workers and owners good luck in their new Ventures

I saw Don Comer as well as Family Tree play here LIVE. Pizza is off the charts tasty and you never know which Portsmouth royalty will be attending from night to night. If you want to forget about the hassle and party like a local, you've found your home.

I have to say it was first time I have ever been to Mario's , and I was really surprised , by how big the restaurant was .and how friendly the staff catered to us.. The food was not expensive, and the pizza that we ordered was outstanding and hand made., tasting and looking fresh this is simply hands down one one of my favorite new places.

Good service, excellent food - love the marinara, pizza, fried shrimp and ranch dressing. Moderate wait time, not too expensive. Good wine!
