Stumbled across this place while passing through Portsmouth, and was pleasantly surprised.

Staff was very friendly and the food was excellent. We were hankering for seafood and this fit the bill perfectly! To too it off, prices were much lower than expected for the quality of the food and service, so it's an excellent deal.

Definitely worth coming back to again!

This is a quaint restaurant in Olde Town (Downtown) Portsmouth. The service was wonderful and the food, which was very fairly priced, was great. Give them a shot if you’re looking for a fairly priced seafood in the Downtown Portsmouth area.

Finally, a place with reasonably priced, delicious food that includes seafood. The crab cakes and puffs were loaded with crab. Service was also outstanding . Will definitely make a trip through the tunnel to come back.

One word of caution to my fellow tree nut allergists, be sure to ask on any desserts and not just assume like I did (walnuts in the brownie sundae nearly took me down).

If you’re looking for a great place to get some lunch (or dinner) and want affordable options, this place is it! They do an assortment of dishes (not just seafood) that are all very tasty and won’t hurt your wallet. I’ve been coming by for Lunch and Dinner for a while now and always enjoy my experience there! I’d highly recommend 😁

Just awesome food at beyond reasonable prices! I mean truly outstanding food!!!!!! Hush puppies to die for! I was shocked!!! Portsmouth????? Ya know? I would go again! Collards you wouldn't believe. Sooooo good! Perfectly cooked!

My daughter and I dined there on a Saturday night with no reservation. It was crowded and busy, but we managed to have a table within minutes. The service was excellent, the food prompt, and the food was delicious.

Nice, quaint, family-owned seafood spot on High Street. Menu prices are affordable and you get quality food, cooked to perfection! My hubby and I tried it for lunch last week and we loved the choices! The complimentary hush puppies, at the start, were bomb!

I’m so glad we found this place. I wouldn’t call it fine dining, but it was delicious. You can’t beat their early bird prices and everything we had tasted great. Absolutely loved their sweet slaw. We’ve lived in VA for 7 years and haven’t found anyone else that makes it. Can’t wait to go back.

Service was not the best but the food made up for what the service lacked. I have been there a few times and always satisfied with their southern cuisine.

Went for happy hour. Got the Cajun dip soup. Very good. Got a salad good. Got the broiled flounder. Very good. Came with these hush puppies. Out of this world great. Up there with some of the best hush puppies I've ever had.

Very nice little seafood place tucked in the heart of downtown Portsmouth!!! Can't believe I have never been here before! Food was great and staff was very nice. For four of us it was unbelievable affordable for the amount of delicious food we had. We ordered two appetizers and four main course dinners plus we shared a desert, everyone was more than happy with there meals plus the hush puppies were top notch! Atmosphere was on the dark side but had some nice decorations that were nautical/Portsmouth themed! Banana pudding cheesecake is worth the trip alone!!!

Great food! Service was good. Chairs were uncomfortable, but the atmosphere was nice.

Extraordinary dining experience. In my opinion the best seafood restaurant in the area. I took my five and seven year old Grandchildren to lunch after a visit to the Virginia Children's Museum, a very short, less than 5 minute walk away. They had the broiled shrimp with a watermelon side. I had the Cajun Mustard Fried Catfish on a bed of rice with fried green tomatoes and an entire LARGE ear of corn on the cob. The hush puppies and fried green tomatoes were plentiful for the three of us. And a wonderful extra, the children's meals were approximately $5. This was the kids first experience at a fine dining restaurant and it was a spectacular hit. Thank you Lobscouser Staff.

The food was great. The price was great. The staff was amazing. Loved the Halloween decorations :)

What a wonderful place!! Right here in my own back yard, and I didn't even know it. Our server (I didn't get her name) was a sweetheart. Celebrating Christmas with friends we stayed past closing (we didn't know that either) and she never said a word. I had the platter and cleaned my plate!! Yum!!

Lobcouser is our favorite restaurant in all of Hampton Roads! Family owned and operated! Entrées cooked by Dad are cooked to perfection, drinks are great! Wonderful service! Warm, extremely clean and consistent. Our favorite waitress, Rachael, the daughter of the owner, always remembers my drink choice and our dinner choices! Mom keeps everything running smoothly! We want to sell our stove and eat here every night.🤗
