Ocean 60 Restaurant

Open since 2001 and across the street from One Ocean, next to a hopping frozen custard place, it is spread out along two storefronts, one side a casual, bar-occupied “martini lounge” (incredibly brightly lit before 8 p.m.), the other cozier and elevated in style. Same menu both areas, same intensely accommodating service. The food, from owner/chef Daniel Groshel, features superb shrimp from nearby Mayport (in my opinion the best shrimp on the East Coast), and the Atlantic Beach native and Culinary Institute of America-educated chef has a deft hand with seafood, specialties like grilled meatloaf, and one of the best shellfish bisques we have ever tasted. The beautiful Beach Bake layered a firm piece of baked cod over smashed and sautéed potatoes and a sweet corn coulis, topped with broiled bay scallop, lobster and blue crab gratin (much like the ocean sauce at my beloved Adolfo’s in New Orleans … but better), and dressed with appropriately tart lemon beurre blanc. It was so perfect a dish that I didn’t need to taste my partner’s seafood cioppino, even with its temptingly aromatic smoked tomato broth, clams, mussels, shrimp, scallops, flounder and fennel mélange.

Attended Friday’s happy hour and it was great! Can’t believe we didn’t try this place earlier. Calamari was delicious and so were our drinks.

My wife and I came here on date night and we couldn’t be happier. We ordered a bunch of appetizers, cocktails, and a bottle of wine and we are beyond satisfied. The wait staff is fantastic, the ambiance is romantic but not too serious, and the food is phenomenal. I highly recommend this restaurant for dinner and a nice relaxing evening on the beach! We’ll be back, for sure!!!

If you love whole red snapper seasoned & cooked to delicate perfection with crisp potatoes, don't miss this restaurant! It gives fish & chips a whole new meaning. The slaw served with it was good, not stellar, but the fish far made up for it. Reed-our server is excellent & knows every aspect of the restaurant as he has a long history with the restaurant. Don't miss this gem!

Our 14 year old daughter chose this restaurant so we had no expectations. We were pleasantly surprised as we dined .The dishes were full the food was of quality and everything was hot.We enjoyed our meals we actually had food to take home..We would look forward to dining there again. Surprised at some previous guests reactions but fine dining has its own lane.Dishes take longer when they are made fresh from scratch and are never in competition with the local buffet for quantity ..Not sure about anyone else's experience at this restaurant but ours was good.

Very good menu. Attentive good bartenders and staff. Menu is awesome with seasonal changes. Get the seasonal holiday duck breast! Martinis are all detectable and bartenders can tweak them to your preferences easily. Love it here. Great atmosphere.

I had the best fine dining experience with multiple courses last night. The seafood is the best in town, and it was seasoned and prepared very well. Chef Chad and his kitchen crew went above and beyond! He came out and explained each course when it was presented. The wait staff was also extremely attentive. The martinis are impeccable at this restaurant! You must go, especially if you enjoy excellent culinary experiences!

Sad story for the Original Owners of this Fantastic Restaurant! Ocean 60 is now a memory and will always be remembered by many as place for Great Drinks, Incredible Food! I will never forget seeing the happiness on every customer's face!

I happened across this restaurant by pure serendipity while walking around Atlantic Beach. I was greeted with a warm ambiance and friendly staff! The food I ordered was excellent! The scallops were cooked to buttery perfection, and well complemented with a savory chorizo risotto. The beef wellington was moist and tender, with a flaky phyllo pastry. The pecan pie had the perfect combination of warm pecan filling and cool vanilla ice cream. All the dishes came out in a reasonable amount of time and were sensibly priced! I highly recommend Ocean 60!

I can honestly say it was the best Meatloaf I've ever had. Our waiter Jason was excellent!

Wife took me there for my birthday. Wish we'd have gone sooner! Food was awesome. A simple menu but with interesting things on it. They also will customize anything you'd like.

Monday-Saturday they have a happy hour with $5 specialty martinis! Great deal!

Staff was extremely-friendly. Nice to see a small, local place like this. We need more of these kinds of places around here!

Martini menu was excellent. Highly recommend the Pineapple Upside Down Cake Martini. Dinner menu selection was great. Overall the staff and restaurant were great. It was a little loud on the bar side where we were seated, it would have been better in the main dining room. I would recommend this over the onsite restaurant at One Ocean Resort any day of the week.

Best martini bar in town. I’ve lived here for a year, I can’t believe I didn't explore this place sooner. The spinach salad and the salmon are to die for. We got complimentary champagne for my husbands birthday. We will definitely be back!

This wonderful mainstay of our neighborhood is always a joy every time. Chef Chad is outstanding along with the lovely friendly staff.
We haven’t been going out too much but we decided to celebrate my mother’s 78th birthday there last weekend and we could not have asked for a better evening. Everything we had to eat was absolutely delicious!

My wife and I had not visited Ocean 60 for a few years but we had a wonderful time I got a dirty vodka martini and she got a traditional Cosmopolitan they were both excellent and the staff was excellent. We also got the roasted brussel sprouts and they were excellent. It is definitely worth going.

This was our first time at Ocean 60. The martinis were fantastic, probably the best dirty gin martini I’ve had. The scallops were amazing and the entrees were both very good. We will definitely be back!

Ok.. For the record, we love Ocean 60! The food is exceptional ... you have to try the amazing Meat Loaf! But what really brings us back is the exceptional bar service. Lindsey is crazy good! When we walk in she makes us feel like we are her only customer. The attention to detail, frequent check up and the service is 1st class! We highly recommend Ocean 60 if you are in the area... and be sure to stop in and say hi to Lindsey!!!

There are good Dining experiences. This is not one of those. This was a great experience. The atmosphere was high end yet incredibly relaxed with a outstanding assortment of fresh everything. From the salads vegetables and seafood Fresh was the standard. We had the fresh gray Grouper and whole pan seared Yellowtail Snapper. The various sauces are homemade and took the fish from good to outstanding. We had Scott as our server and he was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in explaining the specials which are consistently changing depending on availability of the local fish caught. If you want to impress friends with fresh seafood prepared perfectly this is your go to place. Undoubtedly we will be back again and again!

Delicious food, best Brussel sprouts I've ever had. It was our friend's birthday and they made it very special for her. The staff is so friendly and attentive. A great experience.

Absolutely incredible experience last night. Jacob from DC greeted us at the door and made great conversation just from the time that we enter the restaurant till we sat at our table. Later in the evening he came back over to continue a conversation about cheerleading which had my husband and I smiling after our family has gone through so much. At the end of the evening the manager came over who was extremely generous and made our entire experience one to remember. This Restaurant made us feel like we were family and we are forever grateful for them.
