My friend Barry encouraged me to include
canoe country in my hunt for a light kayak that could fit in my tiny scion xb. I listened because Barry has been around boats all his life and knows what he is talking about. They had so many kayaks! Brandon helped
me, including doing some problem solving around getting the boat into the car by myself and strapping it in - a big challenge since I can barely tie my shoes. He took care of other customers during all this, while keeping up with what I wanted to look at and try. He was able to talk about pros and cons of different models. He showed me a much cheaper boat without my asking. I came away after a short visit with great information, a boat model that will work for me ( I plan to go back when the winds aren’t so high! ) and even information about how to sell my heavy 12 foot Tarpon there on consignment, or some cool places to donate it if I want to go that route. Although my expertise with kayaks is very limited he was able to share all the information I wanted without seeming to talk down to me. Gracious, professional, helpful and efficient. They know their stuff and seem to be fixtures in the local boating world. I saw amazing boats at all ends of the kayak spectrum there! Barry tells me
they have 700 boats! There was
no pressure, just great help! All this at the peak of “season”! This was a great experience!!

I am an old lady with spinal stenosis. I was having difficulties getting out of my 40 year old sit in kayak. These guys were kind and helpful. I got a new sit on top kayak that is much easier to exit. Thank you Canoe Country Outfitters!

Just bought my third kayak from Scotty and the great people at Canoe Country Outfitters. For the last 20 years they have always, consistently shown me the best in caring about their customers having the best experience on the water as well as in their store. From knowledge about their products, to local paddling hot spots, even installing things like a hatch on my last yak, they know their stuff! They aren't going to sell you just any boat to make a sale like most dealers. They want to sell you YOUR boat. Unique to you and set up just the way you want it. They will always get nothing but my highest recommendation!

Scott has been so helpful to us, from our initial purchase of two kayaks during the pandemic when it was extremely hard to get any, to help with a two kayak trailer later on as we were having trouble lifting them in a pickup to totally replacing one of our kayaks that cracked at no charge, plus Scott handled all the paperwork.

Have you ever wanted to buy a kayak and was torn between a couple different brands? Have you ever wanted someone who would take the time to answer questions you cannot find online or just want to see real time in person? I did and that brought me here.

What I thought would be a quick in and out experience while I went to a couple other stores to talk to others about the couple brands not offered here, quickly turned into a long conversation about "what ifs" and "what abouts?"

Thankfully Tom is an amazing"salesman." He never tried to push the sale and answered all of my questions. He took the time to ensure I had the information I needed and offered to let me take a demo before I buy.

So I left with more ideas and things to look at on YouTube, hoping I was making the right call. I returned to take the demo and see what I thought. What I didn't expect was to walk out with my new kayak, it's accessories and a smile as big as the time I bought my first kayak.

Tom and the young man (sorry I forgot your name bud) handled my questions and excitement like pros and I was excited to buy accessories from them versus online to show my appreciation for everything they went though to set me up in my new ride.

Once the transaction was complete, the service did not end. They helped me load everything up and are going to look into a couple other things for me down the road. Great job, great experience and great feeling walking out.

I showed up from Colorado and Scott. The owner set me up with a fantastic kayak super comfortable and lined me up on places to go. It was like my own private tour guy. What a great place.

Bought a new Ocean Kayak Malibu Two from here. These specific kayaks have been flying off the shelves everywhere local. Called Canoe Country Outfitters and was told the exact day they were receiving a shipment and they took my name/number down and advised they would call me once received. That day came, the kayaks were in and I was able to submit my purchase over the phone and they held it until I could pick it up. My husband went the next day to pick it up and the staff was very helpful and friendly. Showed my husband how to load the kayak into the truck bed and tie it down. Overall great experience with this place. Very happy with my purchase and I will continue to come here for my kayaking needs!

I can't say enough about the information these guys shared with us. Our background in kayaking is pretty much all research-related at this juncture, but having someone to answer our questions, get us everything we needed and knowing that we can always reach out in the future, is a huge weight lifted off of our shoulders.

This place is why you buy from small shops! I got a roof rack for my son a couple years ago and it recently started cracking around the coating on the roof bars. With no hesitation they communicated with the company and worked out a replacement with no cost! If I had gotten this at a big box store it would have been up to me to track down the serial numbers etc and it probably would have been very difficult and taken forever. They got it done right and in no time!

This place is fantastic. Scotty was super helpful. Called in the mooring and they held the boat until I could pick it up. My wife is new to the sport and I don't know anything about it, Scotty got us all set up with a paddle, and straps for the car. I was out of there in 15 minutes. We'll be getting all our kayaking stuff at Canoe Country.

Stopped in to ask about a kayak to get some opinions the guys in there were very helpful and I left with a good used kayak if you ever need help with kayaks canoes supplies equipment this is the place to go

So, I don’t review businesses frequently or lightly. My experience at Canoe Country Outfitters was outstanding. Honestly some of the best customer service I’ve experience. The staff were personable, knowledgeable, honest, and helpful. I had a bunch of questions which were all answered thoroughly and without judgment. No matter what I needed they were able to provide me a solution. When it came time to load my purchase up they even helped me fix my roof rack (it loosened after a cross country trip and I had no idea)!

Deserves 6 or 7 stars out of 5.

Just recently purchased an Old Town kayak from Canoe Country Outfitters and the service was great. Very knowledgeable and experienced. Family owned father and son both helped me with everything I needed. Highly recommend getting a kayak (life changing!)

These guys are the best!! Great selection of canoes, paddles and gear. Several different models of ultralight canoes. They’re super helpful, no pressure to buy and very knowledgeable. Probably one of the most fun purchases I’ve made in a long time. Highly recommend.

Canoe Country Outfitters provided some of the best customer service we’ve experienced, period. We were visiting the area from out of state, planning to purchase kayaks and return to NC. Scotty provided personalized service, ensured we were well prepared to travel distance and enjoy our maiden voyage like a local-with insider tips regarding best put ins in the area. His friendly, knowledgable approach to our gazillions of questions make it hard to imagine going elsewhere for outdoor sporting needs. We left Canoe Country Outfitters feeling like we had made a new friend, one who even called later that day to ensure the voyage had gone well and we were still pleased with our purchases.
