El Maguey Mexican Restaurant

I loved this place. It is a no frills, hole in the wall style Mexican restaurant. Service was friendly. Service was speedy. Food portions were generous, particularly for the quesadilla. Prices were very reasonable for how much food you received.

Chips were not the best, but the salsa was good (and they had an option of a mild and medium-hot option).

My tacos were incredible. Very authentic and made perfectly. The appetizers were great as well.

My fiancé and I just moved down the street and I am so happy we found this place. Highly recommend!

Such a great family Mexican restaurant. The staff was so friendly and helpful, and they accommodated our young kids with no issues. The food was delicious with authentic dishes like enchiladas mole and street tacos, as well as Tex mex burritos and more. Great atmosphere for a casual night. We will definitely be back!

Very hard to find an authentic Mexican food in Florida. The Quesa Biria tacos are superb. Brenda always takes care of us and she is Great
The rest of their food is just as good.
Try the posole and the menudo you will not be disappointed

Hubby and I have lived here for 22 years and never stopped into this restaurant! There's plenty of fancy, hip cantinas around which we've been to, but finally we went for lunch on Sunday, 10/15/21. Clean, comfortable and cozy without the hype. Wow! Delicious! I got the Chile Verde, with pork and Hubby got the Steak Burrito Mojado. The staff was welcoming and gracious. We'll definitely be back! SOON!

Fajita was amazing! Served with a smile, the helping was generous as expected.
Washed back with a Negra Modelo, the soft shell seemed homemade since they do have a market next door.
No frills but who needs it when it's good.

I wish I could give it 6 stars. I love Mexican food, and have lived most of my life in places where it is very good and widely avalible. St. Pete (and theblarger area) has some great eating options, bit I have struggled to find authentic, affordable and high quality Mexican food. Well, no more. This has jumped to the top of my list, it is utterly delicious. When I saw that the menu featured goat heavily I knew I was finally home. So, so good. Check it out!

When I crave authentic Mexican tacos I come to this place. Staff is friendly, and their al pastor tacos are boss. I legit crave this place now.

Hits everything right, fresh food that tastes homemade. The ground beef was out of this world, and the tamale and chilli relleno was fantastic. Clean and very friendly service. The menu has literally everything and the prices are fair for how much food you get!

Went to the restaurant with our out-of-town guests from the Netherlands as they wanted some Mexican food she was along with the other six of us extremely pleased with our meals we are having such a good time that I forgot to take pictures off at least six different dishes out of the seven of us we all enjoyed our meals extensively the service was outstanding the beverages were cold the atmosphere was perfect for a Friday evening👍👍 😎

I reviewed a few mexican spots....this is hands down the best locally #1. U know its legit when they have their own grocery store next door! Order the queso barrio tacos..(included in pictures)

A great little spot. Authentic Mexican food. The gorditas were great. The corn tortillas are amazing. The French fries were actually very good.

This is authentic Mexican at is best!! We've tried burritos, tostadas, ceviche, sopes and their flan desserts and everything is superb and cooked fresh to order!!

Excellent food, the prices are reasonable and excellent service to be only 2 people serving tables , the menu is extensive …I have nothing wrong to say and if I had a bad experience I would write it without being disrespectful and just would not go back to the restaurant. Please be patient if you are coming here because sometimes the restaurant is completely full. God bless you guys and thank you for having great food!🙏🏻

Hidden gem. Coconut flan was as good as it gets. So smooth and creamy. Hot sauce was Smokey and good. Service excellent

Although the outside of the building is a bit deterring, the hospitality and food was incredible. Our server was a wonderful lady who gave off very welcoming motherly vibes. She checked on us frequently to make sure we were doing well, and ensured we had enough chips and water. The food was delicious and the quantities were generously large for how low the price are (~$10 per meal). I would recommend this place for a great, cheap, meal in the St. Pete area.

Usually get fish tacos when I go there. Authentic and delicious! The staff are very friendly and accommodating.
