This place was phenomenal!! Never heard of it when I lived in BR, but my son passes on his way to work and wanted to try while we were in town. The food and the service were both top notch! My husband and I shared the chicken fried steak breakfast and an order of French toast, and my son had a patty melt. We were planning on ordering something different, but the lady at the next table raved about the chicken fried steak and the gravy. HANDS DOWN the BEST I have ever had of either! Honestly the patty melt was super good, the hashbrowns and the French toast were really good, and the giant homemade biscuit too, but that thin, super tender, perfectly breaded and seasoned steak and that delicious gravy stole the show and I can’t wait to go back for my own plate of just that and maybe some of the grits with shrimp and corn soup which we didn’t try this trip. I have to review our server too. I HOPE Tom is his name. I didn’t catch it, and I called back and described him to the hostess and that’s the name she gave me. This guy brought back memories of when I used to wait tables in the French Quarter 20 years ago, he is a true pro- yes, there are professional servers, and omgosh i love them. If you don’t know what I mean, I hate it for you. Having a server who takes pride in attending, anticipating, suggesting, and truly making your experience seamless and enjoyable (like taking it upon himself to have our shared meal plated separately all the way down to the hashbrowns) is its own type of art gallery experience. Thanks to the whole establishment for a great meal!

Best LSU place for great comfort food. You may have to wait but the experience and food is worth any wait. I am thankful for the past 35-40 years to be able to experience Louie's from when it was open 24 hours to today. Many times I had to stop by after a concert at the varsity or the Bayou to eat and get sober. Love Louie's.

The food was amazing, as always. Can't really go wrong with the big cheesy Lou and the hashbrowns. My son got the banana pancakes, and they were great!
The staff was great, but the wait on a Saturday morning is rough!

Best start to my Louisiana trip. Had the tastiest Jambalaya with shrimp and corn cream. Loved the flavor blast in hash browns. Yummy hot chocolate.

Oh man. Do yourself a favor and get the eggs Cletus. I think they cut the fresh biscuit in half and put it inside down on the griddle before topping it with the sausage eggs and gravy. It's absolutely delicious. The vibe is great, the staff is amazing. Well worth the wait for a table.

One of the best breakfast spots in Baton Rouge! Highly recommend the banana pecan pancakes and the steak and eggs. The hash browns are cubed potatoes, but I love those, too! Our food comes out hot and quickly. They do not accept reservations, so be prepared to wait a few minutes if they're busy. It's well worth the wait. All of the staff are super nice. Parking is decent; if you get a spot in the front, you can wait in your car with the window cracked to hear your name when it's called.

We went to Louie's in the old location regularly when we lived in Baton Rouge. On a recent stopover we decided to check out the new location which has much the same atmosphere of the old place, Ordered a couple of coffees, a mixwd fruit cup, breakfast combo #2, and 1 biscuit and gravy. Everything was great as was our server (Davina). Happy to see it's the same Louie's as before.

Absolutely Love Louie’s… one of my favorite go-to breakfast joints. Although they moved (next door), the place feels like it has been there forever. Old school diner with bar and table seating.
Service is very good and the food is great. They do need to up their game on the sausage. The potatoes are the best reason to go… go now!

The iconic Louie's Cafe doesn't disappoint! Stopped by for a late lunch and had one of my favorites, The BEST (bacon, egg, sprouts, tomato) with cheddar cheese, and an order of their famous hash browns. Wasn't very crowded when I went and the service was very good. I've been going to Louie's since it's early days on Chimes St.

This was one of the best breakfasts we've had in a long time! If you are in the area, stop and eat here.

Lol, the cook is nuts but, he is funny. Had me chuckling throughout my meal. The hashbrowns (Home fries) had a good Louisiana spice to it. The biscuits & gravy were pretty good. I'd come again for the entertainment alone. You all have a "GREAT" day.

I’ve been visiting Louie’s for over 40 years! From the original location on Chimes St to the location further down State St and the most current location! This is a must if you’re visiting Barron Rouge or even if you’re a resident! Don’t take Louie’s for granted! The food is great, the coffee is hot and strong, and the biscuits are awesome! Hash browns and grits is pretty darn good too! Maddy is a wonderful server and does a great job!

Classic hometown diner that has everything you’re looking for. Prices are great for the massive plates they serve. Service was super friendly and food came out fast. The chicken fried steak and homemade biscuits were both 10/10.

Louie's is the great LSU staple that alumni remember well. Different location than when I was an undergrad, but same great food. Loaded hashbrowns, good crispy bacon, and a good chance you'll run into someone you know!

I had the butter pecan pancakes and a side of oatmeal with fruit. Chris was our server. He warmly greeted us and was very attentive. I went yesterday and may go back today as I am visiting from Colorado.

The cutest diner in Baton Rouge and a must-stop if you love friendly staff, a delicious meal on the cheap, and it's open around the clock! Everyone was incredibly kind and accommodating, plus I even made some new friends!

Louie's Cafe is truly a little refuge from the chaos of the city (despite its' close proximity to the Louisiana State University) and open to ALL people, no matter their beliefs, gender, or color ❤ Highly, HIGHLY recommend! You'll love it 💙

We’re visiting Louisiana to see family for the week and decided to stop in for breakfast our second day. The food, service, and vibe were all fantastic - so much so we’ve decided we have to go back at least once before we head home!
