LSU Student Health Center

I always have an excellent experience at the Student Health Center. The doctors and professionals there are respectful and helpful. I'm someone who gets anxious over even the smallest health issues, but they always listen to my concerns with care, and come up with an appropriate care plan for me.
What I like the most about the people is that they welcome you whenever you go. It's never a dread when you think you are going to visit the SHC. For the last four years, I have developed a great relationship with the physicians and psychiatrists there, and the Health Center is one the places I will miss a lot once I leave after graduation. 5 STARS.

I've used the SHC for all 4 years, and have always had positive experiences. I've gotten everything from lab work, to vaccinations and flu shots done there. The services were either free or really low cost since I'm a full-time student. The doctors I've seen always encouraged me to email them through the patient portal if I have any concerns or follow-up questions and they usually responded within an hour or so.

I also use the women's clinic and am usually able to get an appointment within a week of calling. The doctors and practitioners at the women's clinic always make me feel comfortable and address all of my concerns. Would definitely recommend utilizing the SHC.

I've been going to the SHC all 4 years as an undergrad and highly recommend it for primary care and mental health help. I was honestly surprised at the amazing care I received at LSU, specifically from Dr. Folgar and Janell Soileau. I am truly sad to be graduating and leaving Dr. Folgar & Soileau and hope I can find providers like them outside of LSU.
Anytime I needed anything at all, Dr. Folgar was there for me, so supportive and sweet. I was with Ms. Soileau for mental health concerns for one short semester but cannot say enough good things about her. She always listened intently to everything I said and I trusted her guidance. She was empathetic to my struggles and walked me through everything. Again, I am so sad to be graduating but am so grateful for the care I received at LSU. Thank you so much!!!

Basically my primary care when I’m in Baton Rouge. I love the health center, wish I could keep coming after graduation! I think it’s under-utilized by the students. Great facility with a lot of technology so you don’t have to go elsewhere.

The SHC was so amazingly helpful to me and I cannot say how much I appreciate them. They were very cognizant of my limitations and treated me accordingly.

I called in, and literally got an appointment for later that day. Though to be fair, this was during the summer semester. It was quick, simple, and effective, with professional and caring personnel.

Don't listen to the negative reviews. I received excellent attention and care getting my TB test.

I've never used the health center for anything other than mental health, so I can't speak on the medical aspects.

I've been seeing my therapist for a year and a half and it's great to get mental health care included in my tuition. I've had positive experiences with my therapist, but negative experiences with the psychiatrist I was assigned.
Other people I know have had great experiences with the psychiatrists, so maybe I just pulled a bad straw.

This place is rather inconvenient. But they get the job done.
