Hi there!
I’ll be living here in Morehead city for about seven years now and several times I’ve been gone to the ER with my mom and lately with me. I have never had a bad experience. Yes the times that we have been there, We will be waiting for a while but then again is the ER, but almost 2 years ago I have to stay in the hospital for almost a month and the whole crew was so amazing with me. I cannot complain. The service was amazing. Everything was so great, each one of them from the doctors the nurses, Even the cleaning crew that clean your rooms, everything!!! I am very grateful. I will highly recommend them

A family member went for same day surgery. All I can say is WOW!!! The entire experience was amazing. When you walk in the hospital was clean, beautiful, and easy to get around in. From the first good morning, how may we help you to the goodbye at discharge everything was excellent. Same day Surgery department was top notch . I personally can't thank you all enough for the care, compassion, and excellence of this experience.

Everyone leaves reviews when they have bad experiences, so I think it’s important that I share mine. My loved one was brought into the ER with symptoms of a stroke. He was immediately seen, made comfortable, and cared for. The entire hospital staff was professional, knowledgeable, and empathetic. We were contacted as soon as he was stabilized, and the doctors quickly made arrangements to have him airlifted to receive the specialized care he needed to survive. Everything was explained to us and all our questions were answered. The doctors, nurses, and techs could not have provided better care for my father. If it was not for their excellent care he would not be here.

I could not say enough good things about the day surgery unit. From the moment I walked in, the staff were kind and helpful. I was very nervous as I was getting my first ever surgery, but the nurses were beyond kind and helped ease my nerves! I was very vocal, and emotional, about how scared I was and they took SUCH good care of me. Very thankful!

Best hospital to have a baby. Nurses Hayley and Bailey where absolutely 100% amazing. They took the time and went the extra mile to help, teach, and care for everything. Extremely knowledgeable, friendly, kind, and funny. I would give 100*s if I could. Also the rest of the team whose names escape me where amazing and a delight to be around.

From the Information Desk to Radiation Oncology and Day Surgery the staff here are top notch! Everyone was professional, friendly, caring and knowledgeable. When I asked for directions at the front desk, someone took me to my destination. When I had mixed up a destination and was in the wrong place, someone took me to the right place. Everyone was so helpful. I was expecting more discomfort and nausea from my surgery, but these were managed very well. It is wonderful to have such a caring hospital nearby.

Going to the Emergency Room at 3:00 am is never how you imagined your night unfolding, however that was mine and the care experienced here was remarkable. My inital concern was taken care of and monitored and they found and underlying condition that I was unaware of also.
They took me straight back from triage to get a chest x-ray and I didnt even sit down in the lobby to wait at all, from there I was immediately put into an exam room. Within minutes of that they were drawing blood for testing. (Extra points for getting the needle in on the first try and I have only the faintest teeny tiny bruise in the area the next day)
The nurse brought my kids chairs and they offered them snacks/drinks.
They explained everything that they were doing and why.
The staff is extremely efficient and even had to deal with another patient who was cleary having some issues and didnt want to be there. We heard the whole scene unfolding from our room and It is terrible that they have to deal with people verbally assaulting them.
We were out the door by 7am and 4 hours in the ER really is fantastic.
Thank you everyone here for all you do.

My experience was a good one. The registration staff was great. I got lost going to the pulmonary area and every staff member I encountered along the way was nice and helpful. And Robin who did my PFT test was amazing.

This hospital was wonderful. We were on vacation and my 94 year old Dad had stomach pains and had to go to the ER. He ended up being admitted for a bowel obstruction. The nurses, doctors, techs and housekeeping were always attentive to my dad’s as well as our family’s needs. Things didn’t go well with my dad’s medical condition and we had to make a tough choice and put him on comfort care. The weekend case manager Rose worked endlessly and diligently to arrange a very difficult discharge plan so that we could get my dad back on hospice up in Pennsylvania. Every employee seemed compassionate and willing to go out of their way to support all of us. Not to mention the hospital looks clean and well kept

I cannot say enough good things about everyone at Carteret ED that took care of me during an unavoidable visit to their ED dept today. I've had some HORRIBLE experiences at EDs in the past and therefore avoid them like the plague.
However.
Everyone that took care if me at Carteret was kind, professional and knowledgeable. EVERYONE from check in staff to the MD. Particularly the nurse that took care of me. She was so wonderful, she is a gift to the nursing profession! The PA (Katie) was so very kind and treated me with kindness and concern, you unfortunately cannot say that about all medical professionals now.
Also, probably the cleanest Hospital I've ever been in.
They are a smaller hospital but I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.
They are truly an asset to the community they serve

I delivered my son here this past September. I was over 2 weeks early so it was a *tad* unexpected. I ended up needing to be induced and started spiraling from there, so our day became very stressful, quickly. I had the best experience with the nursing staff during a time we needed kindness and reassurance the most. The L&D nurses were efficient with the duties regarding my care, knowledgable of my questions asked, and were pleasant to interact with. Our room also had a beautiful view of the water! I needed to stay 3 days (also unexpected) and I was made very comfortable. The nurses we had for the day and then night shift were WONDERFUL. They helped us so much with our newborn and left a lasting impression. Even though my son's birth was very difficult, I still brag how amazing of a birth experience I had overall. We are now living back in Northern VA and I constantly tell my husband how much I wish we could go back there for any future pregnancies. My hospital staff standards have been set high for any future births!

My husband was diagnosed with Legionnaires disease in August (only case in the area) & the Drs. & nurses were fantastic. He spent nearly 3 weeks at the hospital -over 2 weeks in CCU. My family was very impressed with focus on finding what was making him so sick & making decisions to save his life & help him in recovery! Kudos to everyone we worked with on the 3rd floor

I honestly couldn't be more pleased with the nurses and administrative staff that assisted my son today. Despite the ER being absolutely swamped with patients to the point they were running out of wheelchairs the staff was professional and caring. I don't know if any of the employees read these reviews, but I appreciate all that you put into your work and know you've helped my family.

Hospital was clean, staff was friendly and courteous. Nurses were a lot of help and very understanding to needs of the patients. They didn't try to rush us out after outpatient surgery. They provided extra items to make our brief stay more comfortable. Keep up the good work!

From the nursing assistant and front of house staff to the nurses and PA who removed a deep fishhook from my foot so easily and with care - the staff at this hospital was top notch. One of the passing staff saw me waiting and got me a “better ice pack”. The triage and discharge paperwork process was easy and speedy. From start to finish, these people are heroes. Thank you to all of you!

Honestly I love this place. My child was delivered here and we had to spend nearly a week there. They were great to us and they make sure the dad is comfortable too. That means a lot because men are usually treated like they're just in the way. I've been to the er here a few times too because the VA healthcare system is terrible. I've had nothing but stellar treatment here.

Update: 5 years later, I still use this as my primary ER. I am closer to onslow but that place is terrible. Carteret is amazing and has always given me stellar treatment. Sure the wait times can be long sometimes, but they treat you so well. I'm a combat vet with mental illness, and they are always so helpful when I go there. My panic attacks last days to weeks, and I can't eat cuz I'll feel sick, and these guys always get me back to feeling better. Thank you all.

I had outpatient surgery today and I am so impressed by the whole staff at Carteret General. The lady at registration was so kind. The young lady at the check-in desk was informative, reassuring and helpful. My pre-op/ post op nurses were amazing! The Anesthesia team came in and talked to me and answered all my questions. Dr. D’Andrea is fantastic and makes you feel like you are her only patient! Thank you for the great care all the way around!

I had surgery here and I was so impressed! The hospital is beautiful with lots of natural light.

Honestly not sure if Julie was actually my nurse or an angel. She was so kind, attentive and took away all my pre-procedure anxiety. Julie if you are reading this I just wanted to say you’re amazing and I really appreciate you. Thank you for making my surgery a pleasant experience. I told my whole family about you and your kindness. I won’t forget you. My doctors and other nurses were great as well.

I work in healthcare and sometimes that makes you more critical of the care you receive… but I have nothing but wonderful things to say about the day surgery here.

This past weekend I was treated at Carteret Hospital, spending one night in the hospital, undergoing knee surgery, and getting postop care and training. Dr. Robert Coles was my orthopedic surgeon, and was EXCELLENT. However, I know Dr. Coles can't care on his own -- he needs teams. I also know how important it is to have a TEAM in order to make healing really happen: I am a spine surgeon with a long-term interest and career in promoting quality, safety, and compassion in healthcare.

I give each caregiver and team from the Beaufort EMS through the Carteret ED, Ortho Floor, Operating Room Team, and Postop Recovery team an A+. My wife and I were treated with compassion, my pain was treated quite adequately and my leg was treated with great gentleness. I was properly educated on the safety and quality efforts including infection prevention postop. Thank you, Thank You, Thank You and keep caring!!
