Raftery Park

Never walked the tobacco trail before, but I am 100% going back. It was beautiful.

Yet another beautiful stop on the beautiful American Tobacco Trail. I'd encourage anyone to grab your bike or put on your walking shoes and enjoy the beauty this Trail has to offer. Especially with rest stops and trailhead parking like those provided at Rafferty Park.

Perfect place for long walk

American tobacco trail is wonderful for walk, run or ride. Serious or family outing. Tons of shade, a few interesting views, public restrooms and parking. Been coming for years. It's getting a little more crowded with all the building going on in surrounding areas, but still enjoyable.

The American Tobacco Trail is one of my favorite bike trails, especially in the summer because the of the abundant shade. Walkers, bicycles, runners, strollers and an occasional horse can be seen on the trail. People using the trail are of all ages. Lots of families on the trail. It is well used on the weekends. Lots of nature can be seen. There are a couple of stops for restroom breaks, but there is limited drinking water available.

Enjoyed my hike there a d spotted a bald eagle.

Oh how I love the American Tobacco Trail! All of the trailheads are good, including this one at Raftery Park. Here you can find ample parking and restrooms. From the trailhead you can go miles on either direction. This section is all crushed gravel and lovely pine straw, so you can rest your feet!

Quiet and peaceful walking trail, perfect for strollers.

Nice forested area alongside the Tobacco Trail. I think it's great this land is undeveloped. Hopefully it will stay that way. Cary has plenty of developed parks with more on the way...although, a 24 hour ice cream stand with 200+ flavors would be nice ;-)

American Tobacco Trail - White Oak entrance

Update: THIS PARK after months of construction is the hidden gem of Wake County. Its amenities include, but are not limited to its dry land white water rafting training center, massive amphitheater, turf softball fields, outdoor squash courts, indoor tennis courts, a 24 hour ice cream shop, a lighted frisbee golf corse, an outdoor roller rink, a winter ski mountain training corse, a rock quarry featuring several high dives,16 basketball courts, and over 200 acres of nonstop incredible fun.
