This review is for the protective order filing assistance section of the building on the 10th floor only.

Terrible experience overall that made things worse for me and my son. Consisting mostly of mimimizing and/or dismissing out right the information I provided, as bad or maybe worse, they even misinterpreted crucial elements of my statements leading them to mistakenly envolve the wrong resources while simultaneously failing to envolve the appropriate resources. Both of which had serious ramifications for my family as we tried to mitigate the escalating danger from an unstable, violent and destructive ex live in childcare provider who refused to leave our home dispite offering the financial, physical or any other assistance to do so.

After waiting for over an hour with no indication of what time frame to anticipate, the person I finally got to talk to pretty much dismissed all my information and i was informed that a protective order would not be sought after because the physical abuse, her constant threats of violence and her diabolical agenda to remove my child from me, was not current or extreme enough. (Apparently when someone just a few days before throws your own cell phone at you in a fit of rage so hard that it shatters the corner of it when it hits your wrist, it's not important enough. Neither is someone attempting to rip your genitals off your body, plus scratching your neck and back up so badly you bleed for hours because it was more than 90 days prior. Equally benign are things like an offender clawing and ripping at you so viciously the t shirt your wearing is shredded into three pieces. Also of little concern, it seemed, is when someone in your house physically blocks you from leaving when you want to escape from the dysfunctional stupidity encountered from such a criminal. Perfectly fine also, according to this resource, is when someone uses their acrylic thumbnail like a prison shank to jab you over a dozen times.

Even worse though, my complaints of the abuse and illegal detention I personally encounted were wrongfully reported to CPS as evolving my child!

Unfortunately, that mistake in particular resulted in the abusive individual in question becoming, predictably, even more disrespectful and hateful to both myself and my child as she assumed that I was filing a false report! Somewhat understandably!

I don't mean to say that any behaviour by anyone is the direct responsibility of the good people trying to help us but such a negative result, in fairness, really should be considered to be a probable one given the fact that these abusive types are already looking to justify thier actions as a fundamental part of thier modes operandi. Particularly when one considers the incorrectable nature of this type of otherwise accidental motivational empowerment since once the mistake was made it couldn't be corrected without making the person we needed protection from being aware of it. It made things worse for us and the escalating violence that had previously been directed at me then began to involve my child. She also then began to steal and/or destroy his personal belongings in addition to mine. His brand new LG notepad, smashed, pictures of him with me when he was a baby and toddler ripped into pieces. So many personal and deeply meaningful belongings destroyed that could have been avoided by not having anyone "add fuel to the fire"

Its one thing not to help. (I knew that was a possibility going in). But i never thought it would hurt me or my kid to ask for help and that reality hinders the process if reporting and avoiding.

Best thing i can say is avoid this place and follow the advice of the people at my local courthouse here in Garland and just hire an attorney right from the beginning.

Trying to do this yourself is like asking to be victimized further by both the criminal your seeking protection from and the system in place to help you free of charge.
