Crazy Cajun in Port Aransas: A Spice-Infused Feast

If you're looking for a taste of Louisiana magic on the Texas coast, then The Crazy Cajun in Port Aransas is a must-try. This laid-back joint lives up to its name with a menu that's all about bold flavors and fresh seafood.

The staff at The Crazy Cajun were fantastic. Friendly and attentive, they made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Even though the place was buzzing, we were seated quickly and our food arrived in no time.

The star of the show, of course, is the Crazy Cajun boil. This overflowing platter is a combination of plump shrimp, succulent crab legs, smoky sausage, sweet corn on the cob, and tender new potatoes. Everything is perfectly cooked, seasoned with their secret Cajun spice blend that packs a flavorful punch. But the real win is the crawfish! Being in season, they were included in the boil, adding a delightful sweetness to the mix.

Pro tip: Don't skip out on the side dishes! The velvety dirty rice, rich gumbo, and hearty red beans and rice are the perfect complements to the seafood boil. Each bite was an explosion of flavor, and left us wanting more.

Overall, The Crazy Cajun is a Port Aransas gem. Great food, friendly service, and a lively atmosphere make it a perfect spot for a casual and delicious meal. Just be prepared to lick your fingers clean!

We were seated right away. The restaurant got busy real fast after opening. Food came fast and hot. I had the Hungry Cajun. If you really enjoy seafood and have a big appetite you may want two portions. I added a couple pounds of boiled shrimp and was satisfied. The boiled shrimp was delicious and cheaper than the Hungry Cajun. Kids options are really limited if they aren't into seafood. For us this is a dinner option when we do our annual beach trip.

I came here alone because I wanted Crab legs. The server was very kind but I didn’t get his name. His hair was medium length and looked curly but was pulled back. The crab seemed like it was missing a lot of meat, must be the season? I’m not sure. The corn and potatoes are great. I went a little later at night so it wasn’t very busy.

Exactly what it appears to be, no more no less. A crawfish boil style dining experience at a great price. Hungry Cajun is the way to go. What you get for $20 would cost you $60+ at other restaurants, easy. I have absolutely no complaints. Our waitress was very good with the kids too, gave them free deserts!

All six of us enjoyed our visit. The price of the Hungry Cajun is great, especially with the amount of food received. Crab legs, craw fish, shrimp, potatoes, corn, and sausage boiled in seasonings and served with drawn butter. When they dumped the food on the table I wondered if each serving would be enough, but turns out we left food on the table. Food came out quickly, service was attentive. It was a great family visit.

Oh my stars!!!! You need to try this place now, It will not disappoint & prices are reasonable. We had the seafood boil and geez the shrimp was gigantic, the crab legs were meaty, corn was sweet and the warm fresh made bread with butter made the experience elevated. I loved my Gumbo it was semi thick & rich in flavor.

A must-visit if you’re in the area — we absolutely loved our snow crab, hungry Cajun, and full rack of ribs for two. Come hungry & tip your server — these guys are really cool and great at their job.

Very impressed, my husband and I had the Hungry Cajun and added a pound of shrimp, which was a good amount of food. The seafood was delicious, the corn was tasty and the potatoes too. The best we've had in a while. Our son really enjoyed the cheese pizza and The French Silk dessert. The server was friendly and very helpful too.

Ordered the Hungry Cajun for two and it was very good. Shrimp, crab legs, sausage, new potatoes, corn on cob and it was plenty of food, dumped on the table. Two in our party ordered the crayfish etufee and they said it was equally as good. I ordered the 1/2 lb of Boudin. It was really good and not too spicy. They brought two loaves of fresh bread to the table with whipped butter. Great restaurants. They were busy so glass refill was a little slow, but still great food.

This was a fantastic dinner and dinning experience! Fast and friendly service. Delicious bread for the table. The Hungry Cajun (Shrimp, crab, sausage, corn and potatoes) was delicious with a very flavorful seasoning blend. The jambalaya was spectacular and we finished with delightful key lime pie. Great service, fantastic food and good prices! I will definitely stop here again the next time in Port A!

We had not originally intended to go this place but we sure are glad we did. I got the seafood gumbo. Lots of fish and just the right amount of spice to give a little bite . The crawfish boil my wife ordered was delivered and dumped right on the paper covered table. Lots of crawfish and shrimp along with sausage and crab legs, all of it accompanied by potatoes, corn and melted butter. Oh yeah, great stuff. Our waiter was Fidel Castro and he kept an eye on us the whole time and assured us he was not related to the Cuban by the same name lol. He checked on us often and seemed to be friends with everybody in the restaurant. And last but not least the prices were really reasonable considering how good the food was and the size of the portions.

We went around 4 pm and were seated right away. Service was great. Food was delicious. One of the best restaurants in Port Aransas. Picture is of three "Hungry Cajun" entrees and a side of ribs. Plenty of food for the price. Only 2 options for kids, though: little red potatoes and corn with either sausage or hot boiled shrimp. Nothing spicy and our kid ate just fine, but there's no typical kid menu with chicken tenders, corn dogs, or cheeseburgers for pickier eaters.
We were very pleased! Definitely worth a visit when you're in Port A!!

We had a great time with our first Cajun boil at The Crazy Cajun! Plenty of food for myself and my husband - we got the hungry Cajun and added an extra pound of crawfish. Everything was seasoned very well and they brought out a shaker of extra seasoning in case we wanted it. The food was served with drawn butter and they also have cocktail sauce. Our server was incredibly attentive as well. We will definitely be back!

First time here, VERY awesome! Took my daughter and her friends here for dinner. Just so happened to be crawfish season... ohhh yaaaa. We tore them up! Very good on the spices. Even as busy as they were they kept it flowing. Great experience, thank you!

When you must wipe the backs of your elbows after eating, you know it’s great food! An absolute must in Port A. Fantastic service. Go early for dinner. 5pm sharp! The aftermath of Shrimp Creole, Baby Back Ribs with corn and potatoes, 1/2 lb of shrimp and 1/2 lb crab legs. 2 loaves of bread and butter. key lime pie and cherry cheesecake for dessert. Best sweet ice tea I’ve had in a long time.

We really enjoyed it. Our waitress was wonderful and fun. The food was amazing. Can you mail me some bread please 😁 I didn't need anything else! I almost gave 4 stars though due to only carrying Pepsi products. Can't wait to go again.

Service was great—very friendly. We both had crawfish etouffée and it was very tasty. Not too spicy. Fresh bread as soon as you sit down with lots of butter! We could see the Cajun specials on other tables—it looked delicious—but we were still full from a large lunch. Great 80s music!

Was really happy with our visit here. Food is very reasonably priced and largely portioned. Staff was very, very nice and accommodating. Only down sides were it was extremely cold in the restaurant and would love to have had more seasoning on the boil.
