Let me start off by saying how CLEAN Wheeler Branch Park is.
LETS LEAVE THIS PLACE THAT WAY !

The water is super clear, seaweeds here and there but is doesn’t harm anybody.
The best part is the flooding board, kids had a blast jumping all day.
Fishes swimming all around it’s BEAUTIFUL
- They provide lifejackets from toddlers to adults FREE

This is heaven for kayakers, trolling motors, scuba divers and Stand up Paddlers! The water is 12 ft clear and up to 60 ft deep. There is quite a bit of vertical vegetation on the banks so it is tough fishing from the bank. There are very nice covered sites and a nice beach area. Limited hours during the day, no access at night. $10 for out of county.

Can’t believe I have lived here my entire life and never been here! Gorgeous water that is crystal clear. Swimming areas. Pavilions. Bathrooms are nice. Excellent fishing with plenty of cover for fish to hide.

We had the most perfect birthday for son Krue!! This location is truly the greatest. We rented the pavilion for the party and it was just awesome! Tony the park manager is the true MVP he went above and beyond to accommodate us while we were there. Anything and everything we needed was taken care of before we even asked. I will forever have our sons birthdays here as long as they let us ❤ Thank you Mr. Tony for everything, you truly blessed me and my family. Love Raul & Amanda Martinez

Wheeler Branch Park is a nice sized park and lake. Entry is off of a small farm road (paved) and there is an entry fee for the park (I believe it was $7 per person?). We were there for my Daughters' SCUBA lessons which is a perfect use for this lake as there is no motorboat traffic (only kayaks and/or open hulled boats - small electric trolling type motors are allowed). The park is clean and well maintained. There are on-site restrooms with changing facilities and these too are kept clean. There are several covered picnic areas with built-in BBQ grills available which I think are first come first serve. The diving here is quite good, all things considered... with marked underwater features (platforms, an old bus, poker table, etc.). The water is easy to wade into even when loaded down with dive equipment on.

Every time we have gone, we have had a blast. It's always clean with plenty of parking and shelters to choose from. We have also reserved the gazebo several times no problem. For the 4th of July they offer great entertainment and fireworks. The water is always clean also. They have great fishing areas too. There's something for everyone to do.

Wonderful place to work on your scuba diving skills. Visibility OK. Lots to see.

Awesome place to swim and take the family. It's nice to fish and not have to worry about Jet Skis and wake boats. The entire place is maintained very well.

This is my second time visiting wheeler branch. Its always been beautiful and calm with water so clear its like you kayaking on a giant aquarium.

This is the cleanest lake and property that you can go to in north Texas. Fun snorkeling, fishing and kayaking place, no motor boats allowed. Pictures say it all!

Beautiful place. Very clean and family friendly. Will definitely be visiting again.

Great place for a staycation. Not a ton of sand, but the water is clear and there is a rock shelf along the edge so its great for your kids to play. Buried "treasures" for scuba divers. Not much shade but pop up tents along the water worked perfect. Grills for each picnic area with shade for each area. Swimiming area has a floating dock.

Very nice lake in Glen Rose, Texas, amazing Fourth of July firework show. Great for boating, fishing and overall recreational area.

Extremely well kept body of water. Great to place to go and relax. The BEST water clarity I've ever seen personally at a lake in Texas. Highly recommend snorkeling here.

Well taken care of park. The fourth of July fireworks were spectacular! The water is clear, good for kayaking and swimming.

Great place to fish and swim with beautiful clear water. Children can play and swim without fear of crazys on jet skis.

It was beautiful. Not crowded at all. I love that part. I do hate the fact that there is long plants growing out of the water where you can swim. And also pretty pricy. I can understand 20 for a whole day but my daughter and I ($10each) spent 1 hour there.we had a great time tho. Water was amazing.
