Wow. Great experience. Knowledgeable rangers, engaged and enthusiastic. The hiking was fun, the river and rocky shoreline picturesque, and the dinosaur footprints- amazing! We camped there (primitive) and our campsite was fantastic. Set in the woods, large, had a high hook for storing trash/food off the ground, and a nice set up for a grill/fire ring. Super family friendly…we have already made plans to head back again.

Just visited this amazing park for the second time on September 30, 2023. It’s simply incredible—hundreds of dinosaur footprints made by at least 5 different species over 100 million years ago when the limestone river bed was a muddy seashore or saltwater marsh. In addition to the river, where you can walk and hike when the water level’s down, there are also miles of excellent hiking and walking trails throughout the park that offer easy to moderately difficult hiking and scenic views from the limestone cliffs overlooking the river. Adults and children love this place because it’s beautiful, fascinating, and there’s lots to do. Dog-friendly too.

Campground was wooded and the spots felt private. Plenty of hiking trails and the river is clear water. Was able to see some dinosaur footprints but had to walk across the river to see them. Would stay again.

Made reservations when the talk of the town was that the dry weather uncovered many tracks not viewed in years. Well, my luck brought lots of rain just before my stay which covered all the tracks and closed all the trails! We still had fun camping though. This is a beautiful park and is probably the best maintained that I have been to in many years. Staff was super friendly and offered needed advice. restrooms and showers were heated and welcomed on this freezing weekend. I plan to come back when it gets dry again to see the tracks.

Dinosaur Valley is one of our favorites! We've been coming here for years and years. It's a great place for families as there's plenty to do. The hiking and biking is fantastic. The staff is nice. The bathrooms are clean and the campsites are a perfect combination of infrastructure and nature. Dinosaur Valley is easy to get to from the Dallas metroplex.

Best state park in DFW area that good in all season . We are going to this park from last 15 years , this place has variety of stuff to do like hiking , river , multiple dinosaurs tracks . You can do hike along river easy for all age , hike on hill is moderate level and provides complete view of park , river flows over pebbles and sounds so soothing or feel free to bath in river . Tracks of dinosaur are very visible . Lot of park table & chair in picnic area to enjoy with plenty of tree shadow , kids play area has swings , slides . Restrooms are conveniently located all over . They do star grazing night that is cool stuff . Staff is very friendly and helpful . Make sure to bring plenty of food and drinks as you going to stay longer than you planned and going to have lots of fun and unique dinosaur track experience .

Wonderful trail, got lots of pictures. Very beautiful park. Also the Dino prints are something you have to see. And if you have little ones I recommend either bringing extra clothes or swimsuits, there is a river people love to swim in. Better safe than sorry.

We came here on a Sunday at 3 pm, (make sure you buy your tickets ahead of time as there is limited entrance) the weather was perfect 9/3/23 it rained hard for about an hour and then stopped, we were able to see the dinosaur tracks so clearly at various spots around the park, it was truly a great experience as they told us is rare the river gets that dried, please check my pictures they came out pretty good, we liked the fact that the tracks were full of water so we saw the shapes really well, park is clean plenty of parking and many shades places to rest, bring your water, sunblock and good walking shoes, there is a lot of walking here in dirt/uneven terrain, I saw one or two people almost falling down, some were wearing Crocs and that's a big no if you are planning to walk and see all the tracks, many rocks ans slippery spots for Crocs to do a good job, I wore my trail walking shoes and believe me they make a big difference for this type of walk. We brought our dog and he enjoyed the walk and water hole at one of the stops.

The hikes are great! Tx hasn't seen much water so everything was pretty dry, still great fun!
Very nice picnic areas spread throught the park...but the burn ban keeps from grilling anything in the grills at the moment. It's open late so going closer to dusk would be nice.

It is a must-see and must-do adventure waiting for you and your family and friends. Had an absolute blast Saturday evening and Sunday morning checking out the dinosaur tracks. The adults were just as giddy as the children seeing the drought revealed tracks. Wished my grown sons were with us because the tracks were underwater years ago when we first tried to see them. Be sure to make a reservation because many people want to see the dinosaur tracks before the rain returns.

Amazing experience to walk in the footsteps of the prehistoric giants. Some of the tracks are so detailed you can almost imagine them walking through the mud, struggling, sliding, clawing their way out. We went during the eclipse and it gave it a special atmosphere, the dimming sky, being surrounded by the Earth's history.

This is a beautiful park with an extensive amount of things to do, We spent 4 days here and still didn't get around to seeing/doing everything.
Of course the dinosaur tracks make for the main attraction, and the dinosaurs were especially amazing for my dinosaur-loving toddler.
The Blue Hole was great for swimming, and there was a beach area to set up on.
Swimming at Rock Beach was fun too, and the sandy beach area was perfect for relaxing. The river bed was pretty mucky, though, making it less appealing for swimming.
There are miles of trails for exploring, with varying difficulty levels. A lot of these trails are shaded, too, which is great during the hotter part of the day.
Campsites were roomy and well kept. We stayed at campsite 20, which backed up to trails leading to Rock Beach and river access.
Bathrooms and showers were quite nice.

Check out their Facebook page to see if the dinosaur tracks are visible that day and what the water levels are. We went during the drought and got wonderful pics at the Ballroom Site. Other times, when the water levels are friendly, it is great to soak and splash at the main site or picnic near the playground.

I've been wanting to go here for years. I wasn't disappointed. The staff at the entrance station was very friendly and helpful. I hiked around for hours looking at dinosaur tracks in the Paluxy River. I got to talk with some folks from Dallas who were cleaning out some prints that sediment from the river had gotten into them. The trails in other parts of the park were nice to walk down. Well maintained with picnic spots and ample parking. Kid and dog friendly.

Beautiful fall day visiting Dinosaur Valley. 🦕 The Paluxy River was dry, so we got to walk in the 113 million year old Dinosaur Tracks! Enjoyed ice cream sitting on the rocking chairs at the Dinostore.
