Dr. James W. Van Riper, DO

Dr. Van Riper delivered my 2 kids & I was high risk with epilepsy he made sure I was okay. He’s not much of a talker ,but he was nice. The nurses there are really polite every time I go they already know who I am. I would highly recommend him!

I started going to Dr. Van Riper upon referral from a friend. I also spoke to a labor and delivery nurse at ORMC (where Dr. Van Riper does his deliveries) and he delivered her babies. This girl worked with him delivering babies and she trusts him to safely deliver her babies. That says a lot, folks. She said he is very calm and confident in all delivery situations. My personal care during my pregnancy has been great. He allows enough time to answer questions and my appointment often begins close to its scheduled time if I arrive at least 15 min. He's thorough and knowledgeable. It's ok if a doctor isn't your best friend or extra buddy buddy. They shouldn't be. They shouldn't sugar coat reality. They should give you quality and competent care. That's what you get with Dr. Van Riper.

Dr VanRiper is smart and cares to do what is best for the patient and baby. He does not have a warm demeanor though he is a good doctor and surgeon; his staff was friendly and supportive when I was there 4 years ago. I chose Dr VanRiper because of his excellent surgical credentials knowing I would need a 3rd c-section; and, he proved an excellent surgeon for my son’s delivery.

I really like Dr VanRiper and the nurses that work beside him. He is upfront with questions about my pregnancies/diagnosis' and if he says I don't have anything to worry about I trust him. I am somewhat a problematic patient and he hasn't given up on me or gotten irritated with my questions. The nurses that do the workups and are in the room w/him are great! I absolutely love them! They are caring and help me thru the ordeals I've gone thru in my 3-4years of going there. His NP is great as well. The office I went to before I hated the staff and the Dr was out of it, I made the switch to Dr VanRiper's office and haven't regretted it.

His bedside manner is a little rough but he delivered my son at 31 weeks old. I had a preva and he was calm and knew everything and informed me about everything that was going on. Because of his intelligence my son is here today! He's not warm and fuzzy but he isnt completely cold either. He is there to insure you and the baby is safe and he did just that!

I love the staff at van ripers office. Dr van riper is a very professional and courteous man. Hes "gentle" if you get me. I highly recommend him. I've been pretty sick through my second trimester and they gone out of their way to take care of me. There's not enough room to put all the positive info on here. Yes they are really busy, but worth the wait. I was seeing dr.davis in midland til he moved. Dr van riper is an amaxing replacement. I can't say enough. Warning sometimes the professionalism may seem rude but its in no way meant, they need all info to treat. If I have another baby ill be back!!!

Dr. Van Riper is very professional, kind & honest with you regarding your health, surgeries, & care... Doesn't sugar coat it which is a good thing. He's delivered my youngest child & did my hysterectomy. Will never see a better OBGYN in this area.

Dr. Van Riper is a wonderful Doctor. He is very thorough and explains everything all the time. He always allows for questions at the end of the examination and if there is anything he can help his patients with, he will definitely do that. I've had better care from him than I have from other healthcare providers. Very skilled surgeon as well.

a lot of people don’t like his bed side manner and how straight forward he is. He’s a dr not a therapist! He’s delivered two of my precious babies & he DEFINITELY knows what he’s doing! He’s the best when it comes to delivering and helping and guiding you through everything. I had my fair share of thoughts but hands down wouldn’t have chose anyone else! THANK YOU VAN RIPER!

Van Riper delivered my twins via c section and just delivered my 3rd baby two days ago and did a wonderful job I'm already up and moving around feeling pretty good I love how blunt he is although I always have very few questions and I think that frustrates him lol but I still like him either way :)

Love the patience he has he will answer all your questions and concerns. His staff always have a smile and welcome you, I 100% recommend him. This is the 3rd pregnancy he will deliver.

I absolutely love Dr Van Riper and his staff. They are always so willing to answer my questions and take the time to make me feel comfortable. It’s such a wonderful place that makes me feel at ease. 10/10 recommendation!!

I have three girls and the last one I had the pleasure of attending my pregnancy with Dr. James and it was and will be my best experience, thanks for everything.

Beautiful office, nice staff, very clean, I didn't see Dr. Van Riper because I felt more comfortable with a woman and his NP Jackie is great!

Good bedside manor spent a good amount of time with me explained things I had questions about and his staff was friendly and prompt.

Love his StAFF..also love the 1 and 1 attention...i will continue with him

If you need a doctor, who knows what his doing, Dr. Van Riper is your man. 👍🏽
