I just love small intimate restaurants like Charlie G’s. What a treasure in St. Louis. Located in The Hill neighborhood this place has some great history to go along with the excellent food. Try the fried ravioli as it’s a St. Louis favorite. I had the lobster spaghetti and it was delicious. I definitely could have split the plate with someone too. Unfortunately I was flying home early the next day so I didn’t get to enjoy my leftovers. It’s pretty expensive but definitely worth the food and experience. Plan ahead and get a reservation as it can fill up days ahead of time.

Veal Parm and Gnocchi Au Gratin were amazing. Partner had an off menu special- Lobster Spaghetti- said it was some of the best pasta he’s ever had. Excellent service. Perfect for a date or family celebrations. Will definitely be back.

Stand out was definitely the service. From the coat check, to our waiter, Fahmy, as well as the kind man who served us water and took care of our dirty plates- this place has it on lock! You don’t need my review to tell you this was a great date night. We got the special so our meal was on the more expensive side, a bottle of wine, and desert. We like to ball out on dinner- you definitely don’t need to spend that much. Entrées run from about $22-32. Very reasonable. Please give this place try! Again, we loved our server Fahmy who was extremely personable. We will definitely be back!

We came in with a reservation on Wednesday night and were seated immediately. It’s a low light atmosphere and with old eyes the menu is hard to see without glasses, so I was thankful our server, Quinn, knew the menu very well. He suggested the special: handcrafted spaghetti with lobster, golden beet salad, and his choice of wine. All were fantastic. Its truly comforting going to a restaurant where the staff treat you like a friend and can confidently recommend dishes based on their own experience. I’m on a mission to try all the restaurants in the area. So far this Charlie Gitto’s is on my top 2. I’ll definitely return. 5 of 5 on all accounts.

After living in STL for 35 years we returned to visit our son. Only one day for my wife and I to have dinner out by ourselves. Charlie Gitto was our choice with Ted Drew's for dessert.
You just can't get fresh pasta and a cozy setting like we experienced here. The lobster pasta special was delicious. Angela took great care of us. We arrived early without a reservation and we were lucky to get a table.

One of the best Italian restaurants in Saint Louis. It’s where those with deep pockets like to dine. This is not a cheap restaurant, but one that offers high quality Italian entrees at a premium price.

I previously lived in Sicily for three years with the US military and can attest the food here has the same real Italian quality. Pasta noodles were definitely made in house, and the Arancini’s were the real deal. However, the Arancini’s back in Sicily are probably 30% bigger and retail from street side vendors for like 2 euro. Oh how I miss Sicilian prices.

If you’re looking for real Italian food, this is the place, but be prepared to fork out some cash. But make no mistake, you’re getting all star service from the employees. Aside from our waiter, a number of other staff regularly stopped at our table to top off our glasses or take away appetizer plates. They also box your leftovers which is nice and comes with the premium price. Overall, the restaurant has a great atmosphere and I would definitely come back.

My wife and I went here 13 years ago for a very special evening and we finally came back after all these years and Charlie Gitto’s was ever bit as good as we remembered it! Thanks for making another special evening for us!

Another one of our must stops. To me, they do the best St. Louis-style pizza, but so many other options as well. It's an Italian and Spanish Tapas style mix.

My boyfriend and I have been to this restaurant five times so far. Every visit has been an amazing experience. It's intimate, romantic, and family-oriented, with tasteful decor. We love every aspect of it. From the manager, who has a personal love for Cadillac cars, to our waiter Steve, who is knowledgeable and cheerful (I believe he's served us twice so far), everyone has done a wonderful job! Even the other waiter, whose name I can't quite recall - I think it starts with an E - engaged us in a small conversation about life and the true meaning of enjoying life every day, not just for Christmas. Every day is a blessing. I could never say or believe any negative feedback with this restaurant based off my own experiences as a returned customer. Unfortunately I had to cut our visit, due to an emergency and take food to go. But, the food was phenomenal even at home.

This place EXCEEDED all of my expectations!! My boyfriend and I went there to celebrate our anniversary and upon being seated, the waiter asked what the occasion was. When we told him we were celebrating an anniversary, he was cheerful and even gave us a dessert at the end of our dinner. The service was FANTASTIC, and the food was truly unforgettable. All of the staff was so friendly and on top of their duties - they were quick to fill up waters, bring bread, bring parmesan for certain dishes, the waiter always made sure our wine glasses were full, etc. This is the place to celebrate!!! We will definitely be back. I cannot recommend this place enough!

We had a wonderful meal this Easter on our way back to Indianapolis. Was a last minute idea and even without reservations, we were able to find a table on this busy night.

Service top notch and we sat in the back dining area. We started with the Arancini, and do love when it is a menu option and prepared correct. The dual sauces offered both were wonderful, though wish there were more than just two.

A extremely tasty Lobster Bisque followed and must say another item often a gamble, but this was precisely as it should be.

Our entrees consisted of the Halibut special and I of course went for the Bone in Veal Parmigiano. Hailing from NY, one of my favorite comfort foods.

At first the price point I thought was a bit up there but veal can go that way. When I was presented with the dish, I knew immediately a good choice and as you can see, the portion oversized. Loved the baked version of the dish as well. Ordered a half portion of spaghetti with a nice Pomodoro sauce as a side.

Finishing touch was the birthday cake they brought as we were celebrating a belated night out while in town.

Highly recommend, if you have never visited to stop on in to Charlie Gitto’s on the Hill. A taste of Italy in St. Louis was a great dining experience for us both.

It’s difficult for me to think of a meal I have enjoyed more than the meal I had at Charlie Gitto’s last night. Everything was absolutely superb, starting with the toasted ravioli appetizer. Toasted ravioli, to those unfamiliar, is generally pretty run-of-the-mill anywhere you go, quite like mozzarella sticks. But the ravioli here were softer than normal and extremely flavorful, much better than average. As to the entree, I followed the waitress’s recommendation and ordered the tortellini alla panna, which turned out to be among the best Italian dishes I’ve ever eaten. My buddy and I finished the meal off with the delicious cheesecake. Will definitely be back!

Visited Charlie for my nephews birthday. We enjoyed ourselves. Food was great. Order the French onion soup, the New York strip, Seafood pasta Suzanne and for dessert we gelato and the tiramisu.

By far the best old school Italian restaurant vibe on the Hill. Especially if you are seated up in the front room. Last time we were her we got a spot at the bar and that was a cool experience too.

We loved the signature shrimp appetizer, but it's lost a step. They must have changed the sauce recipe a little. Still good, just not as good as we remembered from 6 years prior (we sort of had beef with Gittos after trying to do a wedding dinner here and finally gave in).

Highly recommend for a date night or other special occasion. Reservations help, but we always end up getting seated in under an hour without. Beer selection is solid.

I traveled from a different state to visit this restaurant and celebrate an anniversary. To my delight, I was pleasantly surprised as all my expectations were not only met but exceeded.

I had always heard of this place back when I lived around St Louis over ten years ago, but never got to go until now. I was missing out!! We got the calamari, which was excellent, as an appetizer. They had a special dish, the lobster spaghetti, that sounded so good my husband and I both got it. Wow, it was delicious!! Nice atmosphere too but I would have rather sat in the front room rather than the back one. Overall I 100 percent recommend this place and I will be back next time I’m in town. Best meal I’ve had in a while!

EAT HERE! This is the place to go if you are going to visit The Hill. Everything I tasted blew me away. Incredible service, excellent atmosphere, show stopping food.
You will not be able to even consider going to an “Italian” restaurant like Olive Garden after experiencing an authentic, incredible, delicious at CG’s. 10 stars.
