Dr. Lazenby was my psychiatrist for a few years before I left Birmingham four years ago. If I could have continued Telemed, I would have but no one did that then! She was awesome, always friendly, on top of things, sympathetic, a good learner but also a good physician. She listened and responded with excellent treatment. Heartily recommend her.

I can’t believe anyone would ever have anything bad to say about Dr. Lazenby. She is the most caring and compassionate doctor I have ever seen. I used to see another doctor at this practice and I wanted to change doctors so I could be one of Dr. Lazenby’s patients. My husband has been her patient for almost 6 years and I have been seeing her for almost 3. She WILL listen to you and she DOES genuinely care. I honestly don’t know where I would be right now if it wasn’t for her help. My husband and I both are better people and we’ve come so far and she’s a big reason for that. I love the staff at Psychiatry South too. I have been coming every month for so long so I know everyone by name and they know my husband and I by name. I’ve never been treated bad there. They’ve been nothing but good to us.

Dr. Lazenby is the perfect doctor for the person who is not articulate in expressing their thought and psychiatry needs. She listens and figures you out. Most important to me, I don’t feel rushed in and out when I visit her.
Don’t base your review of Dr. Lazenby off your experience as Psychiatry South.

Great psychiatrist

Very good Psychiatrist. Has had to taken up extra patients, because other Dr.'s have left. So, wait times can be 1 1/2 to 2 hours for an established patient, who simply is picking up a prescription and getting 15-20 minutes of time. You are required to do that. No time to catch up on how you are presently doing anymore. I followed her from another practice. It is very sad that the person you have been with for years simply has control of your meds and you can't even update them on how you are doing. It used to not be that way, but now that's it. The waiting room is filled with people who are overbooked and waiting for hours. If things aren't different my next visit, I will choose another Dr. I'm a professional just like she is, and my time is valuable. The billing is still for the allotted time, which is not right.

Dr. Emily Lazenby disregards what another doctor has put on someone's record regarding medication that they have a history of abusing. I have a family member that sees her at one of the medplex locations in Birmingham. The said family member went to her for suboxone. While seeing her for opioid addiction and getting the suboxone, the family member told her they needed a prescription for Adderall. When she sees that it is stated on their record that they do not need Adderall due to abusing it, the family member told her that it was only on there because someone went to the doctors office and told a lie to get the Adderall prescription taken away. Dr. Lazenby believed them and wrote a new prescription for Adderall. Not only does she write the prescription, but when the family member leaves her office and goes to pharmacy to get the adderall filled, they called Dr. Lazenby's office and told her that they couldnt take the extended release capsules so she turns around and sends another prescription for the adderall tablets to the pharmacy. The family member asked what did they need to do with the capsules and she says keep them or throw them away. So now the family member has 2 whole prescriptions of the medicine that they abuse. Currently the said family member is in the hospital after abusing the adderall and staying up for several days, to the point they were hallucinating and abusing 911. What's so bad is next month they will go back to see her and she will write it again. I have filed a complaint with the medical board so hopefully once they investigate, there will be something done about it. I'm not trying to get her in trouble, but doctors like her are PART of the reason people are addicted to prescription medications.

My experience with this office has been very unprofessional and unpleasant. I had a new patient appointment scheduled at 1:00 pm. A receptionist called at 8:37 am, asking if I can be at the office by 9:00/9:30ish? My original appointment was supposed to be scheduled back in April 2017 and here it is August 2017. The reason I was given for my appointment being scheduled so late was because "someone from their office discontinued working there and the ball was dropped". The receptionist was VERY RUDE and showed ZERO compassion that day asking me to reschedule my appointment. I'm now having to start over from the beginning to find a "professional" psychiatrist practice. I WOULD NOT AND WILL NOT RECOMMEND this practice. This practice is not the place to seek help if you're going through a
difficult time in your life. I would not give this practice a half star! From my experience with this practice, I would not give it any stars.
